If you take away the extreme abundance of soul/bond/chosen mates the storyline is intriguing. There are some unexpected twists and some shocking betrayals. With not quite a cliff hanger but more of an elusive ending.

Quinn's selfishness and thoughtless actions towards Tate is KILLING me. This aspect is such a huge turn off for me. Tate deserved FAR BETTER than Quinn and all that comes with her. If we could have just stopped at 3 mates and given Tate the faithful woman he deserves and Dillon's whole thing not to have happened ....well this would have been much more enjoyable for me. I mean Quinn is really coming off sluty and I read a lot of sassy books and I do not recall ever feeling that way about the heroine. 😢

Happy reading,
DD 💕

Holy smokes!!! I love the way this author writes and her series are just so fascinating. Usually by book 4 I’m a little blah and am no longer interested in finishing the series but this one is just amazing!

We FINALLY get to know more about the cat and he was not what I was expecting nor was Tate. Tate was honestly a little frustrating to me but I loved the dynamic he showed of him struggling to accept Quinn as well as seeing Bryce understand human emotions even more. The dynamic of the revised harem is different from a lot of books I’ve ever read and that’s one of the reasons I adore this series in the first place. Somehow the author has kept me hooked through 4 books and I’m on pins and needles waiting for the 5th which can’t come fast enough!

Debbie sure know how the bring the drama, that's for sure!

As usual with Debbie's books, this one is filled with action and romance in a dece t balance. We see the consequences of the cliff hanger from the previous book and Quinn racing to repair what she did. We see Quinn relax into the various bonds and ties she has and we see the taint get its grip further into her.

I really love the faeolah. They are definitely the most interesting element for me. Bryce has developed into such a loveable character.

It's hard to say more without giving spoilers, but if you like Debbie's work and the previous books in the series, then you'll enjoy this.

OMG where to start. Soooo much happens i this book - some questions answered but some massive ones also arise. But let me say first and foremost that each book in this series gets better and better drawing you in and holding you and just when you think teh author has reached perfection then wham she hits you with this beauty!
Bryce, Jax and Emmit discover emotions they didn't think that they had that can only come from being with your true mate, Tate has complex emotions and we see them come out a bit more here but his personality has changed - he is still the protector but his sweetness that was replaced with darkness in the last book mellows and he is all about Quinn first. Dhillon i have loved since we first met him, not sure why but for me he just had to develope into a bigger character in the storey and i love everything about him.
Cat - we get answers that we couldnt have imagined.
World building is always one of the best in this genre and it developes from book to book where as some authors do a lot of world building in book one and ten it bumbles along - i think this is one of teh reasons that each book feels better than the last - Plus you get all the feels and actually feel the depth of each character relationship.
So amazing storey with insane world building, brilliant character dynamics and plenty of Sizzle and steam Its the perfect Storm!

Quinn is faced with a gut-wrenching decision from the first page and it does not let up at all!! Not only does she have to deal with the aftermath of book 2's events she is busy keeping the Taint away, and on top of that she has to find a way to keep her 5 love interests from killing each other. It seems it'll be easier to solve the issue of the taint first so we see Quinn go on a trip to Faerie with Cat, who is keeping back a lot more than we thought!

I loved this installment in the series, I think they are getting better and better as we go along! The descriptions are on point and you really feel like you are in the middle of the action. Debbie Cassidy has a fantastic storyteller quality to her that makes you get lost in her books. Each character has their own personality and has a role to play in this saga. There is quite a lot of character growing and development happening as well.

I can not wait for the next book! There is no telling what will happen next and it makes me so excited- I mean this ending will have you gasping out loud!!! A fantastic addition to your shelves!

Now that I’m a bit more familiar with the worlds and I just reread books 1-3 this one is the better of them all. And while a lot of things happen, a lot of death, I still found the book interesting and engaging. I just wish that Tate would get over himself. I like RHs but I dislike when the harem try to force the FMC to choose or aren’t event trying to make the harem thing work. I know not everyone will be on board and there’ll be conflict but stop making it Quinn’s problem.

I disliked how many hints there were about Willow and how many of them Quinn ignored. She’s smart, I’d have liked to see her piecing it together and confronting Willow before all this happened.

The ending was surprising I didn’t expect that to be the solution to the problem.

What the actual hell??? I thought the previous books were good (which they were!) but this latest addition totally blew me away! It carries on from book three and BAM we jump straight onto the rollercoaster that is this story. Action packed, Quinn has a difficult decision to make , it’s intense, exciting and very dramatic and we even get some truths. The characters continue to develop and their relationships grow and there’s a whole lotta steam and hotness going on and I just love Quinn and her guys. The twists and turns and surprises keep you on your toes, there’s danger, intrigue and so much going on that when you reach the end you just sit there, slightly stunned!

Each decision has consequences, but some are deadlier than other. Quinn, after touching the relic and witnessing the barrier fracturing, is about to learn how much deadly they can be. Her steps will not only bring her into Faerie, meeting the Dagda, but also closer to her mates, agreeing to create the bond to save everyone but also giving up on refusing the allure further.
Another amazing book in this series, stepping up the game and ending with a wicked cliffhanger. It was awesome watching Bryce flirt, Emmit coming into agreement and some sort of symbiosis with his berserker, or Selene merging with Walter for a short while. Cat is full of surprises, but what else can one expect from a fae right.. there are many twists and turns, many surprises, and open questions that are begging to get answered. God bless Debbie to write the next book as fast as possible :)

Not great, then pretty good...

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I liked the last bit of it plot wise. I'm struggling with Quinn's personality and lack of self growth. She's becoming stronger, but mostly because strength has been giving to her though bonds. This is why I struggle with fated mate stuff. We'll see... one more to go...

Finally I am starting to like Quinn. She seems to grow up a bit in this book. Soo much happens in this book. Quinn has a lot to deal with and some people may not be who she thinks they are. The cliffhanger is brutal. Can't wait to see how she gets herself out of the latest mess.

Rollercoaster of action and drama. This installment of the series keeps you on your toes for sure. So many plot developments it’s hard to give a brief synopsis.
The world building continues to be excellent as you expect from this author. The character development is deep and meaningful. There’s plenty of steam and deepening relationships to make your heart happy.
The FMC has all you want in a heroine. And her men are a wide ranging group full of intriguing characteristics. The book ends on a big cliffhanger. Can’t wait to read the next one. Definitely recommend.

No, no, no, no you can't leave me like that!!

This book was absolutely intense. From page 1 to the end it is full or drama, action, and the unexpected. I can't go into much without giving it away but I absolutely love Quinn and all of her guys. You do find out who the Cat truly is in this book which was definitely unexpected. Interesting discoveries on the taint occur in this book and a chain of events happens that has you wanting to pull your hair out.

Can't wait for the next installment to see what Debbie has in store for us.

Quinn now has to deal with the aftermath of her breaking the cauldron keeping the Taint away, and if that wasn't enough, she has to find a way to make her 5 lovers get along before they kill each other. Forced to a trip in Faerie to find the Dagda to fix the cauldron, Quinn also has to deal with backstabbing friends.

With each book in this series, I fall deeper and deeper in Quinn's world and follow her along her journey. I can't wait to read the next book.

I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

I am a big fan of this author, and I’m constantly amazed at the way she comes up with such complex plots. In this fourth book of the series, Quinn gets closer to her men, and she gets an unexpected surprise from one. There was a development in this one I kinda saw coming, but man that ending was just a killer. Poor Quinn will never forgive herself, and I don’t know how the man at the end is going to get around this. Can’t be too clear; I don’t want to give out spoilers. Great book, and I’m looking forward to what’s next in the series. Highly recommend.

I am so so so disappointed in this book. The first chapter ruined the entire book and the rest of the series. The FMC destroys something that will most likely affect if not kill off countless people across the realm/world because one of the love interests was going to be killed. She does this without confirming the love interest was saved, removed from the situation or anything like that. She definitely does not understand anything about negotiating with the big bad aka terrorists.

One of the other love interests confesses that he would do the same thing, which is a crock. The entire life of that love interests revolves around stopping the sort of situation that the FMC causes.

I think this is the first book that Debbie Cassidy has ever written that I didn't like.

Hmmm. Things moved a little bit too quickly for my liking in this book. Not in terms of pacing, but more in relationship building and I think some emotional weight was sacrificed because of it.

For example, a central character in the book loses their mate and doesn't even grieve. It was jarring. I suspect Cassidy is rushing to put out these novels while interest is high but I'm worried the quality is taking a dip as a result.

There's just no point getting a book earlier if it's not worth the wait.

RH - MMMMM/Supernaturals/Enemies to Lovers

SYNOPSIS (of 5 book Series): This story is set in a world where supernaturals and humans coexist. The FC (Quinn) believes she is part human/part Lycan but is unable to shift. As a result she is treated as a bit of an outsider by her pack. She is fated mates with the Alpha’s younger son and her father is Beta. To earn a place for herself in the pack she has become a top enforcer. Quinn’s mother left when she was 3 and her father has always treated her badly and never supported her. Quinn is rejected by her mate and receives an inheritance of a house in Hawthorne Cove. Hawthorne Cove is a place where all supernaturals and humans can live under their own law, protected by an ancient artefact but it does not allow Lycans admittance. Initially Quinn goes to Hawthorne Cove with her best friend Theo to try and steal the artefact as she thinks this will allow her to return to her pack and have a place their which the Alpha has promised but only if she returns with the artefact. The story covers Quinn meeting her other mates, learning that she is not part human but part something else and learning that the artefact is needed to protect not just Hawthorne Cove but the world from an evil called the Taint which wants to destroy the world. There’s plenty of drama and heat with a final battle and HEA in Book 5.

If I could have given this series a 3.5 overall then I would. The writing and editing were good with not too many errors. On the whole this was a decent series but there were some real frustrations that materially detracted from my enjoyment of the story. The world building and back story were solid enough and provided in bits and pieces as the story progressed.

As mentioned by previous reviewers, the author does not so much build Quinn’s character so you can see she is strong and kick ass but just tells you she is both i.e. by telling you how she dresses - yes, leather and a long coat and plenty of weapons - but without any real description of situations where she has shown her strength. I don’t think I ever got a real description of the FC but just had to cobble one together. I prefer to see evidence of a character’s persona and not just be told. The FC irritated me through most of Book 1. She’s supposed to be strong yet she is willing to steal an ancient artefact and leave a town unprotected just so that she can get a position in a pack that have treated her like dirt and where there is no actual certainty she will get what she’s been promised. It took too long for the FC to come to her senses. It took me a while to get over this level of selfishness and weakness and to buy into the apparent selflessness and niceness of the FC which the author then tried to portray.

The story is not unique - FC finds she is more than human and is, in fact an incredibly powerful hybrid; FC is some incredibly kind, generous and selfless individual who is catnip for all her mates; FC is the only one who can save the world. Having said that it is still an enjoyable romp and the story keeps moving. Heat level is above average but not too OTT or plentiful that it overtakes the story.

Unfortunately, by the end of Book 5 I felt there were a number of frustrating holes and unfinished business. The relationship with Dillon was very underdeveloped and having made the whole “immortal” piece a big issue the author just waived it off at the end with a side reference to it being no problem to achieve. It was also hard to correlate the fact that he was a god with the fact that he seemed to be able to do very little to help the FC in any situation.

There were situations that were raised but not resolved - Henrik, for example. Why was this not revisited and why was he not punished or something done about him and what he was doing? With Willow, the climax of this story line was unsatisfying and you never find out what happened afterwards. The situation with the Mageri and their treatment of the Onyx mages was also unresolved. The carnival piece came a bit out of the blue and seemed more of a plot device than organic to the story - it was suddenly introduced as a big reveal and then over with. Finally, what happened to Quinn’s father? Did her mother and grandmother every regret their behaviour? Why was Ward allowed to get away with everything he did? Did Theo resolve his issues about being part of a harem?

I get the author was trying to portray Quinn as perfect and selfless but honestly, ensuring evil is destroyed is also important. It was beyond annoying to have all these evil, nasty individuals just be allowed to get away with what they had done and not be held to account. The climax itself was a “blink and you miss it” finale. After wading through 5 Books the author could not be bothered to provide a decent climax and ending. I mean, the FC is not even the last person you hear from in the book, it’s Nyx. One of my biggest pet peeves is an author who drags you through a long drawn out story and then tries to wrap everything up in a few pages. That’s what this author did and it is beyond annoying and insulting to me as a reader!

So, in summary, a decent enough series if you can overlook the holes and frustrating ending and don’t think too deeply about anything 😬

Penultimate book in series...

A gripping read filled with twists, shocking surprises, and a betrayal.
Quinn's, rather brave and impulsive at times, is learning to find strength in the pack, but it's not smooth sailing. Surviving the deep with a new beau in tow. I love Dillion, rather peculiar sea god and his sassy granddaughter Nalini.
Bryce, our fearless leader, is learning fear, and he isn't happy about it, but he is growing. Jax, as ever, still the jovial attitude, but he has become more serious and quieter. However, Emmet grew in leaps and bounds. From the de@dly silent type to caring and de●dly type. He stole my heart, my soul, and my kn!ckers. Tate returns, but he brings his own troubles along to an already dumpster fire pre apocalyptic fight.
A Shifter's Curse was a busy read that had me riveted to the very end. The twists had twists. The betrayal was coming, but I still felt it. So many threads fraying, so many possibilities, and the inevitable end lurking in the shadows. I can't wait to see where this story goes and rather thankful this series is complete on KU, if I had to wait. ☠️☠️☠️
Tropes:
Why choose. Pack. Mating. Soulbond of convenience. ☠️ of side characters. Wolves. Sea god. Vampire.
Quotes:
This wasn’t a kiss of hunger and passion, this was a kiss filled with acceptance, a kiss that connected to my very soul, the kind of kiss that told me I wasn’t just wanted, I was needed. That I was… everything.

“The lure of power is intense, but it’s nothing compared to my hunger for you.”

“Run, little hybrid. See how far you can get before I catch you.”

This was one of the most convoluted storylines I have ever read. I started the first book because I wanted to read a shifter book. Based on the description that is what I was going to get. Then the storyline just kept getting weirder and weirder. It’s as if the author decided to take 12 different books and throw them all into one series. Aliens? Sirens? Demons? Vampires? Sea gods? Beastly creatures? Faeries? And there are about just as many POV’s to boot. Not only that but there is no mention this was going to be a Reverse Harem book (which I would not have read. I simply thought there was going to be a love triangle. Then the heroine seems to be related to everyone powerful, and she ends up having more mates who are different species than makes sense. I honestly felt like I needed to keep taking notes because I had no idea what was going on, and it started to become hard to follow who and what each character was. I’ll give it to the author for being creative, but this series does not make any sense, and is just utter nonsense to be honest. I have to say that but it’s the truth. The heroine also has sex with so many people I don’t know how you can keep up. The world is ending? My life is over? Let’s throw in a random sex scene and add a new mate with mystical powers of their own. I read through to the end because it was in KU and I wanted to know how ridiculous the story would get by the end. In that sense, it did not disappoint. I also couldn’t get over the repetition of certain words. Unfortunately, this is an author I do not recommend nor will I ever read again.

Strong and unique storyline

I've been enjoying this series since book 1, although admittedly I think I spent the first few books trying to get my head around it because this series just feels so different from other books I've read.

At the end of book 3, Bryce was in danger and Quinn was being manipulated in order to save him and book 4 picks up where that left off, and we see the consequences of those actions taken at the end of book 3.

This book gives us a lot. Tate is back - yay. We find out the identity of Cat. Quinn furthers her bonds and her men have more interaction then previously. And of course we get left on another cliffhanger and I'm desperate to read the next book.

In relation to the RH aspect, it has been a bit difficult in this series to get to know the men well as they are so separated. We didn't really learn much about Emmit until book 3, and we learn more about him in this book. Tate was largely absent in book 3, but back in a much bigger way in this book. Dillon still feels very much unknown although we've had some dealings with him books 3 and 4, it feels like he's being set up to have a bigger role, like a secret weapon. Normally it would frustrate me in RH books for the guys to not be fleshed out properly, however it does feel a little different in this book, more organic and feels more planned so I'm really curious to see how this develops.

Woah, woah, woah!! Hold on a minute.....

My heart simply cannot handle the ending. I'm simply not okay with those words... Whew, a lot happened in this book. I feel like I am being torn in multiple directions with the guys. I really want more of Dillion. Simply because we haven't gotten a lot from him, but definitely more in this book. Tate... I don't even know where I stand with him. So much has changed, but also not changed with him. How do I get more of all the men, but also get the story? Gah! Each time these books come to an end, I really end up with a lot of questions. I know most people don't like cliffhangers, and while I'm not overly fond of them, they keep you wanting more. The use of a cliffhanger, while deeply despised, it's also needed. I read this book in one go and now I'm sad that I have to wait for the next one. I am a little, or a lot, terrified of what happens next.

So tired of lack of warnings

I'm not going to leave my usual review because I'm so upset with this author. This is the 3rd book in this series with assault themes and NO warning. Readers deserve respect. If authors can't provide it then they get abandoned. Our mental health is important. Quinn has been attacked by outsiders and her mates at every turn. Pretty much all of them except Dillon. This time she was r*ped by Tate. No warning. Nothing in the blurb. No forward with a warning. Nothing. I'm done with this series. I'm done with this author. They will join a list of others that I avoid at all costs because of their lack of respect for readers. R*pe is NOT romantic! And this is the 3rd book of s*xual assaults in this series. No. Done.

There is soooo much that happens in this book, it feels like many more pages than what it actually is because there just doesn’t seem to be any way the author could have squeezed this much into a book and yet she did in a fantastic way! Reveal after reveal and that ending is going to leave you going back to reread every other book because it is such a twist I think most readers won’t see it coming. I absolutely love this set and this book is no exception. I think this one might be the hottest book yet with some scenes that had me fanning myself WHEW!! I’m marking this as spoilery since I mentioned the twist but seriously, I need to know all the theories!

Took me through a wringer

Quinn, a shifter of mixed magic, along with Bryce, Jax, and Emmit, her three Faoladh mates, are dealing with another revelation concerning her origins as well as the fact that she loves Tate, her best friend and recently triggered onyx mage. As the story progresses an attack is unfounded, a journey is made with altering consequences, and the full truth withheld could cause irrevocable damage. Debbie Cassidy took me through a wringer in A Shifter’s Curse. I don’t know how I will make it to the end of this series and still keep my kindle intact.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
