Doctor Assassin: A Medical Science Thriller

Rate this book
Get ready for an unforgettable medical science thriller! Dr. Max Dent, a respected heart surgeon in Boston, was content to put his old life as an assassin for the Israeli Intelligence services behind him. But when he agrees to execute one more mission, this time on American soil, Max finds himself drawn into a deadly terrorist plot. East and West, Fascism and terrorism, medicine and murder come together in a threat unparalleled since the Holocaust. Max may be the world's best chance to stop it—if he can survive.

Chaos begins slowly. First, a group of college students in Atlanta fall fatally ill from a mysterious illness. Next, six men are found dead in a hotel in the Caribbean with similar symptoms. The plot is intricate, and extremely dangerous. It threatens the very nature of human life, and it must be stopped. Max and his girlfriend, Lilah, must join forces with international intelligence agencies to solve the mystery. An action-packed novel like no other, this ambitious story offers a creative twist to the action and adventure genre.

Unbelievable Fiction at its Finest

My Take

A rapid fire thriller which unfolds a little too unrealistically, connecting the disparate dots too quickly. A suspenseful multifaceted mystery full of coincidences and connections that become screechingly implausible.

The author is a good storyteller who maintains one’s interest but his attempt to knit the story together reads like a fairy tale.
If there is such a thing as ‘too efficient’, this is it… a Level 4 Bio-Safety Facility which normally takes a decade to build…. here is complete in a week end. Warp speed at its swiftest and possibly a little faster than the speed of light.

Genetically altered virus that can target specific victims like Ashkenazi Jews, Blacks with Sickle Cell traits or Gays with HIV. An attempt by ‘Dr Strangeglove’ to purify the world and make Hitler’s ‘final solution’ an aperitif.

The storyline is insidiously clever, easy to follow, crisp and well laid out but, again, the good guys are a little too smart and tie together loose ends beyond incredulously fast.

Many of the narratives are quite juvenile and the political messages writ large.

So many suppositions are ‘too on target’ without supporting evidence, leaving the impression that every one carries a crystal ball and is an expert soothsayer rather than your everyday Mossad sleuth slayer.

‘Unbelievable’ fiction at its finest.

The title says it all. Doctor: the main character is Max Dent, a devoted heart surgeon. Assassin: take my word for it. Medical: plenty of engaging, non-technical details. Science: what could be more current than pandemics and gene editing? Thriller: absolutely, especially when Dent, assassination, medicine, and science begin to stray and intermingle. I can't wait for the screenplay--and the sequel.

Excellent!

What a great and exciting new twist to the world of spy/assassin books. The medical parts were easy to read and understand. The various components of the story shifted back and forth but in a good way by being concise so the story kept flowing. I look forward to the story continuing with the sister. Hopefully, it won't be 5 years!

it’s hard to have anything nice to say about this because it is so islamaphobic and zionist.

here’s what one nice thing: it is very reminiscent of a dan brown book.

the grammar is all over the place. names are spelled differently, different capitalization rules are followed, and there syntax is messy.

Great first novel

A page turner. I Really enjoying Dr. Belsky's first novel. Although he started this five years ago the story is so relevant to today's world.
I understand the second one is in the works and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to the hero Max Dent.
