Really more of a 3.5🌟…it was cute and spicy but nothing earth-shattering. A fluffy read with a relatable heroine

Pet peeve: when writers make the female characters out to be a naive, insecure doormat with no back bone to the point she allows any kind of treatment from her man. By chapter 2 it was so sickening that I just gave up. I will never attempt to read a book from this author again.
Points:
1. Fiancé brings home his mistress and is packing to move out with no notice just when Birdie walks in. Birdie cries and apologies to the side chic for standing in her way in HER HOME (wtf) and then goes to her room and cry while him and the side chic move.
2. Birdie gives fiancé the rent money and low and behold he DOESN'T pay the rent and now she's two months behind facing eviction and yet she still misses him (HER WORDS).
I had enough at this point.. I could only imagine the other ridiculous dumb thoughts and decisions this woman would have made if I kept reading. NO THANK YOU.

Oh my god, this book was everything!!
A great story, interesting characters.
The hero could not have been MORE perfect, I swear to god! Strong, vulnerable, sexy as fuck, sensitive, enough of an alpha in the bedroom....swoon!!!
The only thing that would have made this book better is if she'd been larger than a 16.

-ohh we get into the drama right away okayyyy love it. We hate cheating scum bags nope bye your better off girl. Her life is imploding but i’m intrigued lol.
-Cohen is adorable he’s so sweet and a little awkward since he hasn’t dated in awhile but I love it. The way he looks at her and admires her we love seeing a plus size women loved on PERIOD
-I love how direct Cohen is , he gives BDE but also I love how he makes Birdie feel
-I love all the small confessions makes me feel close to Birdie
-they are so cute they’re like teenagers together it’s adorable 🥰
-the spice was DELICIOUS
-I do wish she would’ve wanted to change her life before the breakup because I feel like I see that storyline so much but still I ate up this book I love the single dad trope

This series has been really enjoyable. I accidentally didn’t read this in order (SHOCKING, I KNOW), but they have still been really fun to read as stand alones. Birdie was such a lovable character and I loved having another plus size female character leading this story. I really enjoyed her storyline of being a guidance counselor and with meeting Cohen and how their relationship developed. I really loved reading this.

What a fantastic book to start off a series with!! All the characters were interesting, even the evil-doers who you wanted to punch on behalf of the innocent ones!!! There were great funny moments and yummy naughty times too!! 💋💋😈💋💋

1)what happens to Ralphie on weekends?

4)even Dads get their feelings hurt by their spoiled kid(s) and the gal they’re dating… potentially dating 🥺💔
5)how work places, bosses, parents, or a**holes shouldn’t get to control your personal, home, or love life!!

honestly no tea no shade this way WAY better than i was expecting. i laughed, i cried, i related a bit too hard at certain points
i loved the size 16 representation, the LGBTQ+ representation, and the reality of growing older with your friends and realizing neither of you have your shit figured out by the time you’re staring down the barrel of turning 30
this was just fun and cute and sappy and INCREDIBLY bingeable. i read it in under 24 hours

Bless. This book needed a good editor and maybe a better author. I like the idea of the book. Sweet and sexy, curvy guidance counselor meets a hot guy then finds out he’s the father of one of her student. All good. The writing though? Stilted and also weirdly an ad for Marshall’s. P.S. It’s not cool and sexy to take your date to buy a dress from Marshall’s. Like, I legit can’t get over that.

Birdie is goals. She's kind, thoughtful, and fiercely loyal. The way she serves her students is admirable. (Don't we all wish we could have had a guidance counselor like her?) She makes mistakes but learns from them and ultimately becomes the truest version of herself in this story. Her ex didn't deserve her, but Cohen certainly does. I hope you'll absolutely love their love story!

not the biggest fan of this book or the characters. i wasn’t able to connect with them. birdie especially was not my fav—im wondering if the author intended to not give her a personality besides being plus size & an ex rich girl????? her decision making and actions were questionable at times.
in general, this book didn’t do it for me. it was slow, the spice was not great and we didn’t even get it until like 60%, and the forbidden love was not forbidden enough for me. i didn’t feel the angst or the tension or the chemistry between the characters. just emotional immaturity 😭 i wanted to like this but it just wasn’t for me, two stars bc it was ~okay~ & ive read worse

This was my first book by this author and I would say I’m one and done. I can’t even start with what was wrong because it was everything. I didn’t connect with the characters nor did they have chemistry. There were inconsistencies in the book and it started out with the most ridiculous scenario. She thinks her neighbor is moving only to discover her fiancée is leaving her…new GF in tow. Just out of the blue. Dumbest shit ever. If you want to start out with the heroine being dumped then just have it recently happened. The scene was zero believable. Apparently at that point she says she should have known since he wouldn’t nail down a wedding date only to run into him at the end on what was supposed to be their wedding date. I mean… that’s a major detail. If they were getting married in (I think she then said three months) there would have been things to cancel. Like I said, there wasn’t anything I can say positive about this book. Oh and here’s another big one. Being a high school guidance counselor there is a lot mentioned about condoms and safe sex for the kids yada, yada. Poor Walter is treated like heretic since he mentions something along the lines of maybe it not being the best idea to supply them with condoms and I’m not saying I agree with him but her reaction was over the top. Here’s the kicker, she mentions how the fiancée has been cheating and she may need to get tested for STDs but then when she sleeps with Cohen for the FIRST TIME, he ask if she’s on the pill and she’s like yeah, we’re good to go. How fucking irresponsible! This lady doesn’t need to be teaching any child/teen about safe sex. I worked in a pharmacy on a college campus for years and I can assure you being on birth control does NOT negate the need for condoms with a new partner. Especially when your most recent partner cheated on you. I feel like this book was written by a high schooler or someone extremely immature. Save yourself the time, skip this.

Look... I get being a dedicated guidance counselor, or an employee in general. But when a parent threatened her job, the first thing she should have done was gone to the Headmaster to let him know what was going on. Then move on. If the child's parents are so set on him not going to college because they think he's going to be some big movie star, that's on them. When he crashes and burns, like so many hopefuls do, then that's on them.
Yes, she wants the best for his future and believes she knows whats best, but she doesn't. She did her due diligence, and has been scolded by the parent and the Headmaster. It is now time to LET IT GO!

This just didn't work for me at all. About 100 pages too long, some of the least sexy sex scenes I've read in a long time, and the story just didn't work.
The set-up for Birdie's firing and subsequent re-hiring felt odd to me. Given the way the school and parents were depicted it felt like she should have left and found something in a better environment. Her leaving a prestigious private school would have been an interesting final severing of the ties between her youth and adult selves. I won't be continuing on with any more books in this series.

This was definitely a palate cleanser type book. There were a few moments where the writing felt a bit disjointed, and the spicy scenes made me cringe—but thankfully, there weren’t too many of them 😂 I did sort of like the characters and their individual subplots, though.

It is a contemporary romance novel that unfortunately didn't quite hit the mark for me. While the premise of a plus-size romance is refreshing and much-needed in the genre, the execution left much to be desired. Yes there was spice, but that wasnt enough for me.
One of the major drawbacks was the narrative voice. The story shifts to a third perspective from Ollie quite far into the book, which was a little interesting. Additionally, the narrators didn't quite capture my interest, making it difficult to stay engaged with the plot. I had to speed it up to try and make it sound better.
The dialogue throughout the book often came across as cheesy and the characters' constant immature mindset made it hard to take their romantic journey seriously. This immaturity might appeal to some readers looking for a light-hearted and whimsical read, but it didn't resonate with me.
Another point of contention was the predictability of the storyline. There were very few surprises, and the plot followed a well-trodden path that made it easy to foresee the ending from early on. As a result, nothing really stood out and the book lacked the unique spark that makes a romance novel memorable.
While I appreciate the attempt to diversify romance literature with a plus-size protagonist, "Hello Single Dad" didn't quite deliver the engaging, heartfelt experience I was hoping for. However, some readers might find comfort in its familiar tropes and straightforward narrative.
In say all that I am going to give the benefit of the doubt, and I will try others in this series, but not sure how far I will get if they are the same style as this.

Swoony hero, strong and independent female, intense chemistry, all the boxes get checked off with this romance!
Birdie is one of those high school guidance counselors that we all wanted to have in high school, she truly cares about the students, and goes the extra mile to try to help each of them. She works in a slightly stuffy, and very archaic private school though.
Birdie meets Cohen when she goes looking for a rebound to get over her loser fiancé who has recently dumped her. Cohen is anything but just the kind of guy you want a fling with. He is a silver fox, divorced father of a sixteen year old at Birdie’s school. Of course, there is a rule in the handbook that states parents and school employees are forbidden to date.
Everything about this book was a joy! Our heroine has some curves on her and is a former rich kid, who went off on her own and rebelled against what her parents wanted for her. Our hero is a bad kid who made good, and is struggling with parenting a 16 year old. So many real life issues are wrapped up into this book that you can’t help but love the substance that comes along with your spicy!
I highly enjoyed this book, and am super excited to see that more books will be coming about Birdie’s best friend (who is a smutty romance writer!). I can’t wait to read more from this author!

I'm a total sucker for the single dad trope, so when Hello, Single Dad showed up on Libby as an audiobook, it shot straight to the top of my TBR and I have zero
regrets. It was the perfect mix of heart, heat, and a little chaos.
After a brutal breakup, Birdie makes one questionable decision (okay, maybe a few), and ends up falling for a stranger she meets at a bar - only to find out he's the
father of one of her students. Yep, awkward. But what follows is a story full of tension, heart, and an off-limits romance I couldn't stop rooting for.
Birdie is a standout. She's the high school guidance counsellor we all wish we had; empathetic, dedicated, and just trying to hold it together while her personal life
spirals a bit. And Cohen? Swoony single dad with silver fox vibes, a good heart, and major patience. Their chemistry is undeniable, emotional, sexy, and complicated in the best way.

This book was SO good. I couldn’t put it down. I literally read it in about 5 hours. This is my first Kelsie Hoss book and I LOVED it.
Birdie went against her parent’s wishes, went to college, and is making a difference in the lives of her students as a high school counselor at a snooty, prestigious high school academy. She’s a curvy girl with self esteem issues, who is dumped a month before she’s supposed to get married.
Cohen, divorced for a couple of years now, is content putting his son’s care and work in the forefront of his life. He runs a bar, his son is gay and is trying to navigate school with that knowledge.
Birdie and Cohen literally collide one night in his bar. The sparks are instant, but unknown to both of them, Cohen is off limits to Birdie. Will she allow archaic rules them to keep her from the best man she’s ever met?

The story was okay, and the spice was mid, but what bothered me the most was the FMC having no backbone. It was just frustrating that she continued to be a pushover, and I found myself wanting her to just tell people how she felt for about 50% of this book!
Also, the story jumped around like the author didn't remember what they had previously mentioned, and these inconsistencies took away from the enjoyment of the story because all you focus on is the plot holes.
Overall, the cliche story was okay, just lacking in so many ways.

I saw potential in the beginning, but my expectations quickly went downhill. Which sucked because I had high expectations!
The fmc (Birdie) made stupid decision after stupid decision and then was wondering why her life was falling apart.
Then our mmc (Cohen) was fine. Was he a bit immature for being in his forties? Yes. But he also had his good moments like, when he took her to the not yet open aviary because he knew she loved animals.
I will at least be giving the second book in this series a chance as I already own it. Hopefully I end up enjoying that one more.🙏🏻

This book was better than OK. Had a fair amount of humor. Some good thought provoking one liners. Good cast of characters which is why I’ll be reading the next in the series.
