In [SQUELCH PROCEDURES], MLA Chernoff contemplates the ways that trauma, poverty, and strict gender norms rupture the concept of childhood. MLA Chernoff is a Toronto-based poet, performance artist, meme enthusiast, and recovering academic. Their debut full-length poetry collection, [SQUELCH PROCEDURES], was released by Gordon Hill Press in 2021. MLA is at their height of intelligent, frantic, poignant, challenging and hilarious poetic craft in this book. They command language and ideas unlike any other poet I’ve read or heard.
