Find your place in the stars with this fun and accessible guide to the 12 signs of the zodiac.
Are you spontaneous and impulsive, or do you like to look before you leap? Are you constantly full to the brim with big ideas, or do you prefer to tackle your goals and dreams one at a time? Learning about your astrological sign can help you find out what energizes and challenges you, how you relate to different signs, and how to get to know not only yourself but also your friends and family better.
The layout and graphics are ecstatically pleasing, but that's about it. There are more graphics than actual information in this book. The information is more based in stereotypes versus astrologically correct information. I found the information limited, repetitive and even inaccurate. There are much better and more informative books out there for beginners that are also simplistic..
This book provides a a brief summary of each sign, then things they are good at, ways then can stretch themselves, Family & friends, Home and Away, Health and wellness. Each basically has one paragraph to summarize each section mentioned. then the rest is graphical charts with one or two word answers for things like crystals, flowers, scents, lucky numbers, etc. You could find more information about these on a basic google search.
I don't typically like to leave low ratings, but this book seems like it' was something put together over the weekend with little thought and information that is extremely basic and honestly an insult to astrology. The title is also misleading, when i read "The Magic of Astrology" my first inclination would be that there are some spells or manifestations using astrology to help you.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a short and easy to read astrology book. I didn't think I would get much out of it, but I was wrong. I learned quite a bit. I'd like to go back and reread it for notes purposes.

Synopsis from Publisher: Find your place in the stars with this fun and accessible guide to the 12 signs of the zodiac.
Organized by the 12 zodiac signs, each chapter covers everything you need to know about how astrology relates to you. Beautiful illustrations and helpful charts throughout feature each sign’s classic and lesser-known traits, tips on travel and décor, communication style, health and wellness, and beyond. Fun bonus material includes a sun sign yearbook page, a zodiac compatibility matrix, lists of famous duos and their zodiac signs, and career ideas for each sign.
Review: I've reviewed several astrology books in the past couple of months, and The Magic of Astrology is one of the better books I've read. It's not a long or difficult read (only 176 pages) but is packed with lots of useful information. Unlike some authors, Allen doesn't spend time explaining how to create or interpret a birth chart, and instead focuses on the individual zodiac signs. Each sign is provided with information on ruling planet, compatibility with other signs, health, careers, and a lot more. Handy charts make it easy to reference and cross-reference everything Allen packs into these pages. If you're looking for a quick-reference guide to the zodiac, this is the book for you.
This was interesting reading. Each sun sign is examined thoroughly, with an eye towards strengths, weaknesses, and what motivates them and/or keeps them happy. I liked the way sun sign characteristics were extrapolated into real-world advice about how to make spaces appeal to each sign, what leisure activities might be best, etc. It gave a good sense of what each Sun looks like a person, instead of a collection of traits.
I would loved a bit more explanation about a few things. There were suggested travel destinations, but I would have loved to have known why they would have appealed. The same for the mentions of compatibility--why are some signs particularly compatible and why do they tend to be at odds with others?
This is a good introductory guide that gives the reader a real sense of the personality of each sign and what they look like out in the wild, so to speak. It would be a great pick for someone just learning about sun signs and curious to expand their knowledge.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
This book shows what astrology suggests about us. It is definitely is aimed towards beginners and explains all the terms that are used. Additionally, it used graphs and illustrations to help readers understand the book.
I’ve been reading this every once and a while over a few months and found it very interesting. Like all astrology books it isn’t 100% accurate to everybody of that sign however I found that this book accepted that. Some of the “information” in the book seemed very opinionated though. For example, the section on each sign where it says “Places ___ needs to travel to” seems highly opinionated.
I did find some joy in comparing my friends to their sign to see how accurate it is for each of them. Most of them had one to three characteristics that lined up with them.
This book wasn’t my thing however maybe it’s your thing.
I was granted eARC access to The Magic of Astrology via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book is very easy to read and gives a nice overview of the different zodiac signs; each signs has their own chapter. It would be perfect as a coffee table book that you can flip through from time to time. I did sit down and read the entire thing from start to finish, however I feel like most people would just skip around and find their own sign. It provides a basic introduction to the signs, some useful passages you can reflect upon as well as some fun facts (eg. celebrities with the same sign or places to travel).
I love the illustrations on this book and I jumped to the final chapter to read about the Pisces me and if you're into tarot and astrology, or curious to know more about zodiac signs- some strengths, weaknesses, common connections and the like, then this is a great and easy to read book. Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
I really enjoyed this book. It was fun to go through it and learn a little bit more about me, my family, and friends signs and see if we would get along according to the book. I found it fun to learn about my zodiac sign more and see if I agree with what the book had to say.
4.5 but rounded down. Great to get an overview of sun sign meanings/sign meanings in general. Beautifully made. Thought it would be a little more informative but is definitely for beginners. Definitely easy to follow though.
i found this book at random and gave it a chance and im glad i did great book to read couldnt put it down not sure if i know someone that would read this but im sure i can figure that out 5 star book
Has examples of famous persons and their charts to show topics and what a chart can look like. A number of topics within astrology are talked about. Having other chart visuals as well is helpful of placement and connection is nice for those wanting to see it. A good beginner book.
Perfect for beginners. Limited but if you’re barely getting started. It’s the perfect basic guide. More stereotypical than in depth. But easy to read. Also makes for great decor once you move up in better literature on the subject.
A perfectly simplified version of a more complex topic. Easy to lend out to people who want a quick overview of something that might take me hours to describe. A very welcome addition to my library.

This book provides a basic introduction to each sign’s classic and lesser-known traits, zodiac compatibility matrix, and career ideas. The author also added multilayered information to provide signs with tips on travel and décor and insight into their communication style and health and wellness. Each chapter focuses on one of the zodiac to make it easy for the reader to follow along. The basic insight provided by the author helps the reader to self-reflect and learn how to interact with their sister signs.
I reviewed my personal sign along with others close to me, and I was happy to see some accuracy. For my sign, the overall content was mostly accurate, but the lists like for travel were only somewhat accurate. The "sun sign yearbook" page is a cute way to reinforce the superlatives of each sign. The zodiac compatibility matrix is also interesting, although I felt like the signs it said I was compatible with were not accurate (which is usually the case when I've looked up other matrices from other sources). There was even a celebrity zodiac match section so you can see how your favorite celeb duos fit together.
All in all, this is a cute introductory book to thumb through whenever you have company over and want to spark a conversation.
