"It wasn't always like this. This place. Haunted by accusation. Hostility. Bitterness. Grievance. We had jobs. Little town like this, where everybody knows everybody that means something. We hadn't lost ourselves yet. Lost who we were supposed to be.”

While I wait for the final issues of Scott Snyder's Clear (comiXology Originals) #1 and Night of the Ghoul (comiXology Originals) #1 I thought I'd check out this supernatural mystery series from 2010, the whole of which is currently free on Amazon for Kindle.

Dr. Ishmael Stone is a detective, a monster hunter, and a philosopher. Together with his team, he is heading for a sleepy mining town where a terrible evil has been unleashed.

Defeating the first monsters they find on their arrival, the group are concerned that the evil doesn't appear to be following the usual rules of engagement

Quite the wild ride with some flashbacks to Dr Stone's early life.. 4 stars.
