The female main character is extremely unlikable. The plot seemed very flimsy and I was not invested in any of the characters.

Well I was not expecting that plot twist in the last quarter of the book. Liked that it was just a tiny cliffhanger at the end.

The plot and idea behind the book really sold me and I totally loved Draven, as a character he is divine but needs more fleshing out which can be hard from a single point of view book.

I did not particularly gel with Lucia, she was a bit too childish and immature for me but that may have been a stylistic choice from the author given the plot twist at the end.

All in all an enjoyable book if you enjoy YA or NA reads.

This has the possibility of being an awesome series based on the premise

I first met the Sunder family in the Mate Tracker series, which follows Toni Sunder through one heck of a crazy adventure. I loved Toni but now it's Toni's little sister's turn, Lucia Sunder has her very own series causing a whole lot of trouble just like her big sis. Lucia has accepted a scholarship at the League of Demon Hunters in New York and she's sure she is gonna make a fantastic demon hunter. However things never go as planned especially when the king of Hell's son gets involved, Drevan Morningstar has decided to take up residence in Lucia. Great that's all Lucia needs to be is a demon hunter who is possessed, let the fun begin.

Lucia is not what I expected, she has issues and is a very flawed character. I will admit that for most of this book I didn't care for her, Lucia was thoughtless, careless, and spoiled, she did what she wanted to do without worrying about the consequences. Being the youngest of four children did not do her any favors, Lucia has gotten too used to getting the things she wants and never put any effort any into anything. You would think it would be different at the Demon League, after all, she is on scholarship but it's not, Lucia just skates on by. She doesn't study because she prefers real-world experience and then she drags another into her mess. Not to mention this big chip on her shoulder because she thinks that others think she doesn't belong, that the rich kids see her as a charity case. Honestly, some of that might be true about some people but most of it is in Lucia's head, she has a lot of insecurities and Lucia seems to be notorious for avoiding problems and emotions. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Lucia goes through a lot in New York and she learns some things and I have to say I'm started to like her a little bit better by the end of the book. Lucia still has a lot of work to do but she isn't all bad, I could grow to like her a lot more.

As for Drevan, he surprised the heck out of me, Lucifer's son isn't at all what I thought he'd be. Drevan is very comfortable to be around, kinda can't help but let your guard down around him and believe him when he's telling you something, which is utterly ridiculous considering he is the heir to the throne but he draws me in with his soothing personality, his charisma, confidence, and caring attitude. It's totally a mind F, you know who he is but you can't help but fall, the man (or should I say demon) is hot, not just looks-wise but personality as well. Readers didn't stand a chance. The relationship between him and Lucia is a weird one, they are both attracted to one another, they fight like a married couple but most of the time she doesn't trust him (to be fair Lucia doesn't trust anyone) and he's just steadily drawing her in, not revealing too many emotions but there are some there. The two of them have chemistry and I wanna know how this is gonna develop because Lucia is a mortal Skew and he's you know, he's the immortal prince of Hell. It's gonna be so good.

Listen, the plot for Demon Pride is great, there's a demon-hunting school, it takes place in New York, there are swords, magic, prophecies, demons, wars, and during all this a little flirtation going on. Heaven and Hell are both up to something that hasn't been made clear and a classic mythology has been introduced, I can't wait to see how that plays out in the rest of the series. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger that has me asking a whole lot of questions about Lucia and gave me a few ideas about some theories that I can't wait to see if they play out. Demon Pride is just the first book in Lucia's story and I'm looking forward to more.

“I believe you can be a great hunter. It’s the reason I was willing to overlook your high school performance, but you have a lot to learn and don’t seem willing to do it. You want to cut corners because you think you’re special, but if you continue on this path, you’ll never get your horns.” - Director Lebeau

When Lucia Sunder wins a coveted spot at the Academy for the League of Demon Hunters (LDH) she jumps at the chance for a life of excitement, prestige and wealth. Four weeks into her scholarship, however, Lucia becomes bored of endless studying and the lack of practical work.

On hearing that a demon has been spotted in Grand Central Station, Lucia sees it as the perfect opportunity to move up the ranks of a demon hunter and sets out to quell it using an auspicious sword she has stolen from the Academy. Her plan backfires spectacularly when she falls foul of master demon hunter Darrold Grant, leaving her position at the Academy on tenuous ground.

Her scholarship is the least of her problems when Lucia later realises she’s possessed by a demon. This is no ordinary demon however, he’s Drevan Morningstar, the son of Lucifer and future King of Hell and he has a proposition for her…

Demon Pride is the first instalment of the spin-off Demon Hunter series which is set in the Sunderverse universe. As a huge fan of the Mate Tracker series, I was excited to get my hands on this latest release.

This time, the onus is on Toni’s younger sister, Lucia who was first seen demonstrating her powers of telekinesis in The Tracker’s Dawn. Unlike Toni, I initially struggled to like Lucia as she came across as foolish, reckless and immature. As the book progressed, however, it becomes apparent that her insecurities and the way she avoids forming close attachments with others, stems from the loss of her father and being the youngest of four siblings desperate to prove themselves. Eventually, Lucia is able to take a hard look at herself and acknowledge her mistakes and flaws.

As always the author’s world-building was vivid, from the ranks of hunters and demons to her concept of heaven and hell where everything is not always black and white. The unexpected twist at the end caught me by complete surprise and the cliffhanger has ensured that this reader will be eagerly anticipating the follow-up.

All in all, Ms Seymour has once again created a complex plot and convincing characters that will keep the pages turning for any urban fantasy enthusiast. Recommended.

I received an advance copy from the author. This is my honest review.

I’ll start off by saying that if you read and loved Toni’s story, you’ll definitely love the start of Lucia’s! Everything about this book radiated the same energy and I was 100% here for it. That’s not to say it felt the same though – Lucia is completely different to her sister and it was refreshing to get a peek inside her head, especially since we already know a little about her from Toni’s adventures.

As was the case with its predecessor series, this book was such an enjoyable read. I was able to put it down at times, but I also didn’t want to! It was just so easy to get lost in. I never had trouble concentrating when I was reading this book, which is how you know it holds your attention! With this series starter, Ingrid Seymour has added a new layer to the world she set up, one that raises so many questions! But none that are pressing or bad – I’d just like to know more about the world, because I can sense there’s more just sitting underneath the surface, waiting to be discovered.
As for content, well, for a first in a series, there certainly were a lot of twists and turns. Not that I’m complaining! The were no character I’m completely in love with yet, but we’ve only had an introduction to them at this stage. I must say there was one I completely despised though, and I don’t think it’ll be hard to guess who. And that ending! The last 10% of the book leaves you going ‘um what?’ in the very best way. And to think I now have to wait until the next one to find out more (because of course there’s a cliffhanger right from the beginning *cries*).

I will say, though, that this is a sequel series, and if you haven’t read the first series, I would recommend you do so. I believe that you could enjoy this book without having read it and not get confused, as there are very few references to events in that first series, so it does stand alone quite well. But this series is written without some of the world building used in the first book, because previous readers already know it, so for that reason alone, I would recommend you start with Toni’s story. And if you’ve already read that one, then stop reading the reviews and read this book instead!

Demon Hunter

This is the second series I've read by this author in the Sunderverse world and I love Lucia just as much as i did Toni 💖

Lucia like her sister was gifted with a special ability hers in telekinesis and as it is so rare is one of the reasons she was accepted into The League of Demon Hunters school. Lucia is a bit full of herself and doesn't believe she needs to put in all the book work that her classmates do she wants to do the practical work killing demons not studying about them, so when she overhears a conversation about a level B demon being a grand central station she sneaks out to get a look. She doesn't expect the demon in question Dreven to be so good looking and when LDH turns up and they're all injured she steps in and helps taking out the demon... or so she thought. Lucia winds up possessed by Dreven instead and she's pulled into a save the world mission. Her task is to rid 7 people of the deadly sin they live by and her first task is one of her teachers at the league. She doesn't expect to develop feelings for Dreven in the process of their forced proximity but in a twist of events she finds out that everything was all a lie and chooses to walk away from everything when the sting of betrayal is far too much for her to handle. She returns to her normal life away from demons and hunters fully expecting to start a new life but she soon realizes being a hunter is not something she'll ever truly be able to leave behind.

If you loved Toni's story, then this book is a must read. Following the steps of the troublemaker in the family, we watch Lucia enter the academy for demon hunters, trouble following in her footsteps as usual, especially when she accidentally gets possessed by Drevan, a demon prince considered to be the number one enemy. Like a typical teenager, her ego and self-confidence might be the death of Lucia - yet all is not lost. However, she must really recognize the truth, lost in the tangle of deceptions, distinguish the good and the evil, which is not easy, and even admit her own mistakes - which might be the hardest part of all.
I really loved this introductory book to a new series, and have to admit the author even managed to surprise me - which, considering the number of books I tend to devour in this genre, isn't that easy, the plot twists tend to repeat themselves or be very similar. Then it's only the author's talent and proficiency to make it unique, and I am glad this book achieved the improbable. Despite her faults, Lucia is a character with great potential and huge reserves, which gives a lot of room for development, and on top of it she is quite likeable. Drevan has his own charm, and the mission he dragged Lucia into is the highlight of the series, so I will definitely read on when the next book comes out.

Demon Pride: Sunderverse is Book one in The Demon Hunter Series by Ingrid Seymour.

💜 apprenticeship
💜 mysteries
💜 demons
💜 enemies to lovers

Lucia is all set in her dorm for her apprenticeship at the League of Hunters. She was able to get herself a scholarship to attend. She’s bound and determined to earn her way up the ranks. What she doesn’t like and wasn’t expecting was all of the studying she will have to do. Ugh. Why can’t isn’t be all practical work? Hands on, yah know? But when an impulse decision leads to and other impulse decision, her life gets completely flipped inside out and upside down. Can she get things back on track? Will she ever meet her goals?

This was a great start to a new series. This is in the same universe, the Sunderverse, as her sister’s stories. I love with series have shared worlds as it makes the stories richer. So if you like this, go read the other series too. I can’t wait to read the next one to see what happens next for Lucia, especially after that cliffy.

“W-what is it?” I asked. Battula raised both eyebrows and gave me a disapproving stare.
“No wonder your grades are so bad,” LeBeau said.

Lucia reminds me of my brother. Too smart for a traditional school, he dropped out and later had to apply for a GED. Her schoolmaster, LeBeau, recommended that she join the demon hunter school, and she became excited…at first. I was not sure if I liked her for a while. Ignoring her studies, deliberately flaunting the rules, she was on her way to expulsion. I have seen people like that before, and wondered how to intervene.

Well, here was a primer, a story with a moral, which makes sense when a demon is involved! I was so entertained by the action! It mixed jello-boy demons with a special magic sword and oh, my, swoon-worthy romance. This book was worthy of my $.

Lucia is one uppity, over-entitled, huge-chip-on-her-shoulder protagonist. She's not easy to like or to identify with because she feels herself better than everyone else and above all the rules. I much prefer Drevan the sexy and mischievous demon/Nephilim. But whilst I get to thaw in my opinion of Lucia as the book progresses, I still don't much like her, so here's hoping she will grow on me as the series progresses. First books in series are more introductory but this one was amazing, and it had an amazing twist in the end that blew me away and has me really wanting to read the next installment asap. The story is exciting and fast paced, the excitement never ebbs and the possibilities of where this story can go are endless, so I can't wait to find out what happens next. Typical Ingrid Seymour to leave us wanting more!

She has done it again !!!

Again and again, I simply love Ingrid Seymour’s books. This one is no exception. I already liked Lucia’s character in the tracker’s series but I am now deeply involved in knowing what will happen to her and what she will become. This steamy relationship between her and Drevan has gotten me all tingly inside and I just want them to be together. I cannot wait to read the next books and it cannot happen soon enough !! I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about supernatural and romance. But make sure to read Lucia’s sister tony’s story first as it is as good as this one and will give you a bit more insight on who Lucia is and where she comes from. 10/10 will most likely read this book 10x over !!!!

I enjoyed this spin off that stars Lucia and her adventure when she gets a scholarship to League of Demon Hunters in New York. I admit that I really wanted to slap Lucia in the beginning as she was written perfectly as the spoiled youngest child in the family. But I was amused and amazed at the trouble she finds herself in and loved watching her have to work hard at the beginning and stop fooling around. And what happened next was a blast. I laughed and groaned but was entertained and found myself rooting for her in the end. And the ending was good and setup what is to come well. Just a good story. Loved all the other characters too as they were all flawed in their own ways too.

What a great start to this series!! This installment picks up right where The Tracker's Dawn left off for Lucia. Lucia, Toni's sister, really wants to be a demon hunter and is accepted in a school in New York. Her academic habits and study skills, however, prove to be less than stellar so far, and her curiosity towards a demon quelling in the city end up getting her in more trouble than she can handle! I loved Lucia and Drevan's chemistry, and as always, Ingrid Seymour delivers that moment that you totally were not expecting! Can't wait for the second one!

Lucia got her scholarship to LOD. Of course she never follows the rules and causes problems. What will happen when she overhears about a Demon and goes to watch the demon hunters take it down? Now what will she do to change the outcome? Can she ever be unpossessed by Drevan or will she be his puppet and live in the underworld? Now what will the demon hunters do if they ever find out it is her? Follow Lucia story in this series you won't be disappointed. I received a free copy for my honest review

I’ve read other books in the Sunderverse, and the cover and blurb of this one intrigued me so I dived right in. I loved the world building, it was so rich and clear with the characters and the lore being the League of Demon Hunters. I adored Lucia as a protagonist and loved reading her journey, going through the highs and lows along the way, and that ended in punched me in the stomach! I am desperate to know more and will be following this series from now on. Another great book by Seymour and highly recommended!

Interesting

Lucia is heading to a school for demon slayers. She unfortunately doesn't believe in studying and doesn't do homework. When she sneaks out to witness a process of sending a demon back to hell, she gets possessed. A prince of hell, has attached himself to her and tells her that she must save the earth. It's a task she suddenly has to study for and practice. She becomes an apprentice, but all is not what it seems.

Its an interesting story.

awesome!

I loved Toni’s series. At first, I won’t lie, I don’t like Lucia. BUT…. Now I get it. She’s Toni’s sister and so very different! I am learning that change can happen. By then end of the story I was rooting for Lucia. I definitely can’t wait to see what her and Drevan’s relationship will turn into. She’s got a new adventure coming and that ending gives me excitement! I love that the author is continuing to build this world and this little spin off is great!

I really enjoyed the original Sunderverse books so hearing we were getting a series from Toni's baby sister's life was a joy.

It's really fun how like her sister she comes across and totally playing into the demons hands.

Just like all her fantastic writing Ingrid took it there by the ending of this book and i can't wait for more!

Yay

I started with the Toni tracker series, and when I heard the universe was being extended I was super excited.

And this didn’t disappoint, I love seeing character growth, even if my heart went out to her during those moments. I’m super excited for the next book and can’t wait to see where this story goes.

Sunderverse seems to get better with every book. Toni was the tracker we followed in the first series in the world. Now we follow her sister Lucia. It's getting more and more interesting with demon hunters and the Prince of Hell entering the picture. Looking forward to the next sin and sinner.

Crazy twists!
Ms Seymour has outdone herself with this one. Getting the hots for the demon that has possessed her? Just too kinky for me. Besides that, the f bomb came out in many instances. On a regular basis. Crazy twists. You’ll like it especially if you are a fan of Ingrid Seymour.
