Reality TV isn’t supposed to be this real. In real life, hot Hollywood producers like Harry LaSalle aren’t supposed to walk into your salon and whisk you away to their mansion. Not that I’m complaining—Harry’s gorgeous, charming, and totally brilliant.
One problem: he also happens to be in charge of the reality show I’m starring in. Oops.
We need to keep this discreet, because I’m not giving Harry up. But TV is a cutthroat business, and I’m discovering why Hollywood romances rarely last. If I want to be a star, I’ll have to choose between my integrity and the man I love.
HARRY:
Jaime is way out of my league. And I should know—as a failed actor, I’ve received my fair share of rejections. So when the hottest, sweetest, funniest man I’ve ever laid eyes on decides he wants me, I only have one choice.
Yes. It’s an absolute yes.
Then I find out he’s the up-and-coming star of the show I’m producing. Worse, my co-producer wants me to push Jaime to perform at impossible standards. If I don’t, I can kiss my career goodbye. But if I do, I’ll lose my only chance with the man I’m falling for.
This is the second book in the Makeovers series. It can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.
Jaime Washington is the makeup artist at the Layered salon. Along with his best friends Hayden and Remy, Jaime provides not only a personalized beauty experience, but also advice on how to change a persons entire personality, as well. When he and his friends are at a self-improvement seminar, Jaime is able to meet the humble, yet charming lecturer Harry LaSalle. After a brief conversation and following dinner and drinks, Jaime and the affable Harry engage in a one-night encounter that proves to be unforgettable for both of the men. However, when the three stylists are approached by a reality-show producer to perform in a TV program, Jaime is surprised to find out that the co-producer is none other than Harry LaSalle. As Jaime and Harry become ever closer acquainted and form an intimate relationship together, the main producer of the program introduces some very unpopular changes to the scope of the show - a change that Harry must enforce. But will these drastic changes mean the end of the show…and of Jaime and Harry's relationship?
Brushed is a wonderful book!! I especially loved the main characters….Harry and Jaime are about as different in personality as one could imagine. Whereas Jaime is outgoing and extroverted when it comes to dealing with people, Harry has problems with his self-esteem and with how he believes others perceive him. Harry is very good at what he does; he is knowledgeable and certainly a master at making someone feel comfortable and smoothing out a bad situation. Jaime refuses even to try to be someone he isn't. When Denny Masters starts to add elements to the guys' show that they cannot work with, Jaime, Hayden and Remy want to call it quits on the show - fame be damned. The big dilemma however is that Harry and Jaime's relationship is caught in the middle of a huge fight between what the guys know is reality and how Denny Masters wants to "portray" their reality. This plot is awesome because it is so multi-dimensional…there are so many sub-plots going on in this book that it was intriguing to see what was going to happen next. The secondary characters all add a sizeable amount of drama to the story line - especially Hayden and Remy - and Dennis Masters as the meanest kind of antagonist.
A fabulous book - not to be missed!! 5 stars!!
I read an advance reader's copy of this book and am leaving my honest and unbiased opinion of it.
This is a great addition to this series, I'm really enjoying these guys and their stories! This book is Jamie's, he is the makeup artist of the group and he meets Harry, a producer for their upcoming reality show. This was a fun read, I really liked Harry and Jamie, they are just so cute together!
Jamie, Remy and Hayden are all excited about their upcoming reality show, hoping to showcase the makeovers they provide for their clients, boosting their confidence. When the process starts, Jamie meets Harry, a producer who will be working closely with them throughout the process. There's a great connection between the two men right from the start but they certainly face some major challenges. Harry has some major self esteem issues, he's got a terrible, manipulative boss, plus there's the professional challenges when it comes to a relationship.
There's a good amount of drama, especially when it comes to the reality show and expectations versus the reality of what they are doing. The three men are pushed to the brink when the show goes in a direction they are not on board with and there are some tough choices. All of that is going on as Jamie and Harry explore their connection and seem to start building a relationship. It's clear they care about each other, but there seems to be a lot in the way for them.
I really loved how their story came together, it was just perfect for them! I loved that Jamie was willing to fight for what he wanted and leave no misunderstandings between them. He's a great match for Harry, building him up and supporting him. They are two wonderful characters who really deserve happiness! A great addition to this series and I'm looking forward to more!
Brushed is book 2 in a wonderful series about 3 friends who own their own styling/hairdressing/makeup business. Book 1 was excellent and book 2 does not disappoint. Jaime is a wonderful character. I love how he is so comfortable in who he is and makes no apology for it. Jaime sees Harry for the first time at a conference and he is immediately drawn to him and goes for it. Harry, bless him, has self-esteem issues and finds it hard to accept that a younger good looking man finds him irresistible. Jaime and friends agree to film a reality show with the production company Harry works for and Harry’s boss wastes no time trying to ingratiate himself with Jaime and asking Harry to ask increasingly ridiculous demands of Jaime and friends which just creates an ever increasing divide between them. Will Harry ever find the courage to tell his boss where to stick it? Will he ever realize his true worth and that Jaime will stand by him? I can’t wait for book 3!
I received an ARC of this book and leave this review willingly.
I absolutely fell in love with Jaime. He is kindness personified. He genuinely cares about each of the women that he encounters in his business. I love how he sees the real Harry and likes him exactly as he is. Harry is lacking any kind of confidence unless he’s working and even then he doesn’t see his worth. He is a bit starry eyed over Jamie and doesn’t understand what Jamie sees in him or believe that it can last. After all, why would anyone want him? I liked that every time Harry lashes out Jamie sees the motivation behind it and never gives up on them as a couple. Watching the three guys pursue their dream of being stars and then coming together over what was really important made me cheer. It was such a sweet ending.
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
Jaime is the makeup artist with his friends, Remy and Hayden in the Layered salon that helps ordinary people look their best. They sign on for a reality show in order to obtain the money needed to do charity work for the needy to look their best for job interviews. Harry has little self-confidence and has a hard time doing his job. I liked the way Jaime never gives up on Harry and that he instilled the necessary beliefs for Harry to gain the confidence he needs to become what he wants and to stand up for himself.
Brushed is the second book in the Makeovers series. In this book the 3 boys are the stars of a reality show and what begins to be a great idea to show the salon quickly becomes a huge problem at the hands of the producer, Denny, when the show moves from LA to DC Jaime and Harry get involved at the very beginning of the book and all the while Harry tries to defend Jaime from the sleazy producer who decides to change the original idea of the show Another great book with fun characters I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Reality TV can be a nightmare. This storyline had it all, depth of characters, Denny Harry’s boss caused conflict, misunderstandings and add in humour. Harry had low esteem where Jaime is the opposite, when they come together it’s explosive, hot sensual scenes, it was easy to fall in love with them. I’m loving this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I absolutely recommend this story.
When Harry met Jaimie. I loved the connection of Jaime and Harry in this second Makeovers book and the drama that reality tv puts on this Hollywood tv fantasy romance. The makeup artist and the producer are so cute and I loved reading their journey because they really had some roadblocks. This was an excellent example of Jason Collins with a sweet relationship having to overcome outside forces they manage to survive and I always look forward to how this is accomplished. ***ARC review***
I loved Brushed by Jason Collins. It's the second book in the Makeovers series. I loved Harry and Jaime. I hated Denny and what he did to the potential of the show. I'm glad Denny got what was coming to him. I can't wait to see who Remmy ends up with in the third book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
As an ARC reader I am giving my honest review. I loved the book and could not put it down! A funny, descriptive original storyline! Would definitely recommend reading this series and can't wait for the next book.
This was a good read. The friendship among the primary characters is loving and supportive. I liked that the significant other was the one with the esteem issues. It was great that Jaime had to help Harry develop his sense of worth.
I have been reading Jason's books for a long time. He is a writer I really enjoy reading. This was a great read. I had to keep reading. He always has great storylines. Please keep writing.
This was a great addition to the Makeovers series. Jaime and Harry were good together, and their connection was immediate. Can't wait for Remy's story next.
