Graphic designer Maddie Lanzi is still figuring out her life. Her freelance business is up and sort of running, but something is missing---her best friend. The only constant in her life since birth. Inseparable. Until a year ago.
Pastry chef Marco Marchetti has spent the last year in Paris honing his skill with all things chocolate. Life is good. The only thing that could make it better is having his best friend Maddie by his side. Now he’s heading stateside to make truffles for her brother’s wedding. He’s excited to see his family, but all he really wants is to hang with Maddie. They're even rooming together, just like when they were kids.
When a hotel mix-up turns two queen beds into one massive king-size, he's seeing his best friend in a whole new light. Will a weekend of passion turn into a lifetime together or will Marco be heading back to Paris alone?
USA Today Bestselling Author, Stephanie Kay has always loved a good romance, and she got hooked on the dirty ones at the tender age of 14, when she told her mother that if the cover wasn’t a bodice ripper, then there was no sex in the book. As an avid mystery reader, her mother never checked to see if Stephanie was lying. Twenty plus years later, Stephanie’s most prized possession is her Kindle, and she may have a Hallmark movie obsession.
She has called California, Maryland, and Rhode Island her home, but now lives in New Hampshire with her husband where she asks him incessant questions until he escapes to go hiking in the mountains. That’s the only time she can get him out of the house so she can get her writing in. Married couples shouldn’t both work from home!
Sports were never her thing, but after beta reading for another hockey author and buying NHL Game Center within one month of watching her first hockey game a few years ago, she dove into learning everything she could about the sport and the hot men that play it. Now she spends her spare time visiting hockey arenas in the name of research and loving every second of it.
Little Maddie Lanzi is all grown up and is looking forward to seeing her best friend Marco for the first time in a year at her big brother’s wedding. Add in a crush that never quite went away, a mix up in their hotel reservations and the romantic vibes of the weekend and you get an ending that is a complete surprise to Mads and Marco.
Although this is a novella it was great to catch up with not only the Lanzi gang but the Marchetti’s too - along with some of your favorite Stryker girlfriends.
I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to more Stryker action and more books from this series too.
Maddie and Marco, Marco and Maddie, also know as M&M to their family and close friends, have been best friends since their were born. A friendship that has stood strong against time and recently distance.
Marco Marchetti is a pastry chef who has spent the last year in Paris expanding his skills in chocolate. When he comes home for his brothers wedding and a special request to make truffles will he be able to pass on the love he has making them to the love of his life Maddie?
Maddie Lanzi is a graphic designer who started up her own freelance company and is hoping it will take off with a bang. What she wasn’t expecting is her true feelings for Marco to come full force when they end up sharing a room together at the wedding just like old times.
When they come together again after a year apart will they both finally realize that the feelings they have for each other are more than just being friends? Especially since having to share a bed in the same room leads to some very powerful dreams. Or will Marco having to go back to Paris put a damper on everything?
This is a great novella set in Merlot California, along with the rest of the books in the All-American Boy series. Stephanie Kay definitely knows how to capture your attention and keep it throughout the whole book. She has proven best friends can make the best lovers. Definitely one to add to your reading list!
Maddie and Marco, aka M&M, have known each other since infancy and through years of friendships have never crossed the line into 'more'. A simple year apart and suddenly confusion sets in as to their friendship. Could there, should there be more... trepidation, wayward looks and steamy moments. Childhood BFFs make the cutes HEHs.
This quick novella is well written and tells the sweet yet steamy story of M&M. You'll get a sneak peek into some favorite couples set in the striker world and are left with a warm fuzzy feeling after reading.
I received a ARC for my honest opinion. I would encourage you all to also jump over to begin reading Stephanie Kays 'Unmatched', followed by 'Last call' and then head on over to the Striker series. The story lines have suspence, steam are HEHs and your Kindle will melt despite all the Hockey talk 😀
This sweet and sexy story is just what I needed on a cold and cloudy day. Best friends since childhood, Marco and Madison see each other after a year apart...and see each other in a totally new way. While Marco has been working and training in Paris as a pastry chef, Maddie has been hime trying to ramp up her own business. But the wedding of her brother puts them in very close quarters, and sparks fly. My favorite trope and little to no drama made this a can’t put down read for me. I love that Marco is not only a pastry chef but more so, a chocolatier...which I see a lot in books but they are almost always a female. I loved it!
This is a novella in the Love by the Bay series. It is the story of Maddie Lanzi and her life long friend Marco Marchetti. Born to friends on the same day, they go through life as best pals M & M. Things change when they attend her brother’s wedding. Marco is in from his internship with a famous chef in the Paris and Maddie is beginning her graphic design business. Dang, the hotel only had a king size bed they would have to share…
Short, sweet and steamy. About a Boy is about best friends who finally realize they want more than just friendship from each other. If you’ve read the Strikers series you get to enjoy familiar faces. If you haven’t, you get to meet some new characters (and should then go read the series!).
Thank you in advance to the author for a copy in exchange for my review.
This book is the sweetest literally!! I love Marco and Maddie and I know you will too! They were best friends their entire life, sometimes it takes distance to see what has always been in front of you. This series continues to thrill me.
Well this was my first story by this author but will not be my last. I truly enjoyed this friends to lovers story. Marco and Mads have amazing chemistry. It made me feel emotional which is so rare when reading novellas. Great story!
About A Boy was so good. I loved the story. I loved the romance. I loved how steamy the book was. I loved "seeing" Maddie and Marco together, and reconnect after being separated for the last year. I, of course, also enjoyed when the characters from the San Fransisco Strikers books made an appearance. I was smiling like a fool.
Having a best friend since birth is a dream in the making.... Falling in love, a Wish beyond belief. Thank you Stephanie for bringing us a fuzzy warm & humorous story!

This was such a cute little novella. I loved the look into the lives of old characters as some of Stephanie’s past ones are getting married in this one. Then add on a super cute best-friends -to-lovers story. Maddie and Marco are just the cutest, plus I want Marco to make me all the chocolate. Loved it!
