The Sapphire Princess

Rate this book
Three years after the death of Albus Dumbledore, the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters are in the middle of a never-ending war, until an old wizarding legend raises the stakes. On the morning of Hermione Granger's twentieth birthday, she wakes up with the mark of a willow seared into her skin. Though the Order doesn't recognize the symbol, a Death Eater does when he faces Hermione in battle. Hermione has been marked with the Mark of Morganna, proving that she is the last remaining descendant of Morganna Le Fay, the original witch. When Voldemort learns this, he sends one of his followers to bring Hermione back to his side, both because of her newfound pureblood status, and the incredible power she wields. The Death Eater he sends: Draco Malfoy.

God, I don't even know how to start this review.

This book was utter perfection, it was so written realistically it might as well be canon.

Usually I don't like fics where there's a war. I think many authors write it differently than I would like (not blaming them, of course! It takes a lot of talent to write a fanfiction.) This fanfic however, was exactly my style.

There were some heavy losses. I'm still crying over Blaise. I've been crying for the past twenty minutes and I'm having a headache because of it, but it's sooo worth it.

I literally read this thousand page book in TWO DAYS, because I literally had know idea it was that long. It didn't feel that long. But I guess that just what happens with a good book.

Anyways, I would like to send my love to the author. You did amazing job! Keep writing.

This wasn't horrible, it was just trying too hard to be good. Most characters were very out of character and tried either to be the best magical cream puff version of themselves (Draco/Hermione/Fred) or the worst (Harry/Ron). What really made me nope out of this was as soon as Hermione gets Mograna's willow tattoo she becomes this magical nymphomaniac. To get out all of the extra power she is getting from this tattoo she needs psychical contact with another witch/wizard, in comes our boy Draco. They can't keep their hands off one another due to this magical transfer bond. Their "relationship" or lack there of got lost in all of this.

Side-note I couldn't buy into Hermione being in a relationship with Seamus at the beginning of this. I get it's a war and everything, but come on man, really?

The beginning was a little tough to get through but the author took a couple years off and returned with a much stronger writing style. It was hard for me to feel anything for the Seamus/Hermione story line because I never really liked Seamus in the books/movies. It's a war time fic but the story really sticks to the few characters at the one safe house. The plot was interesting overall and I enjoyed the fic but I wouldn't give it a reread

“I want to love her… on low alert. I want to walk down the street with her without being scared of a raid. I want to… I don’t know… have dinner alone? Cook? Maybe a bottle of wine. I know how to hold Hermione when the sky’s falling on top of us, but gods I want to hold her under a sunset. Prove that I can, you know? That it’s not just the war, not just the magic. It’s the unbelievable way we fit together.”

😭😭😭 I love simp Draco

i would say my rating is closer to a 2.5 but i went a little higher just because it wasn’t horrible. i read the first 900 pages really quickly and i’d say i enjoyed them pretty well. then finals week hit and so i didn’t read for 2ish weeks. once i got back to it, the rest of the book had me skimming a ton. it felt repetitive and a little too dramatic, everybody felt out of character as well.

3.5 overall — Fully captivated throughout the whole story. I didn’t love the idea of Hermione/Finnegan but I suppose it’s better than Ron 😅 — different plot that I haven’t read before where Hermione is pure blood.

4/5 plot
3/5 spice

Wow, this was so unexpectedly good. This fic was so creative and I thought it was well-executed overall. There are some plot holes/discrepancies but still a wholly engaging emotional rollercoaster. I highly recommend.

I highlighted so many beautiful phrases from this fic. The author has beautiful prose. It was a great length, with just the right amount of depth in the plot. I laughed and shed a few tears.10/10

The buildup was amazing but the climax wasn't it like the final battle was bland in comparison

4.5. I hate it when they don’t all make it to the end but I guess it did have the MCD tag 💔
Literally genius though. I wish my brain worked like this

Dramione
It's not great writing. It's a little choppy. It's not great yet with the characters, though it's still early. She's kind of monologue-y. We'll see if that gets annoying.
I'm hopeful, though, for a fun story.
The writing is really trying to be intelligent and deep, but it's just missing the mark. It seems like the story could be really enjoyable, though.
But, I also can't help but see Draco as a very young man/teenager. Still growing. The scene of Hermione carrying him out of a burning building either reveals that he's scrawny (still a child) or she's a brute. I can't see an in between.
13% I don't think I'm going to get much more out of this. They don't feel like adults. It's not as smart as it wants to be. It's done a couple of obvious things that I don't like, like the moment he heard that Hermione was a princess, he immediately questioned his treatment of her during their time together in school. Not a moment in between.
