Making Rounds

Rate this book
Raising three children ensures life is never dull for Dr. Brooke Campbell and her wife Tess. Striking the right balance while managing hectic schedules and competing priorities is no simple task. Twins, David and Danielle, are about to turn thirteen. The little baby they were so excited to welcome is quickly becoming a toddler. A year of failed attempts at conceiving another baby has left Tess disappointed, and Brooke wondering if they should stop their efforts.

Brooke announces she’s taking a sabbatical to spend more time with the family. And Tess decides she needs to visit her parents and confront fears she’s long tried to suppress. Unexpected news from Tess’s mother, Mary, brings mother and daughter closer than Tess dreamed possible. With the support of her mother, Tess makes an admission to Brooke that will change the lives of their entire family.

Loving someone is easy. Maintaining a family full of distinct personalities, ideas, dreams, and anxieties takes more than hard work. It requires humility. And it often demands sacrifice. Brooke and Tess are about to learn a few lessons in Making Rounds.

And then there were six! Lovely book, lots of tears, love the way they follow on and make an excellent series. And it seems there is a 7th…. Double Dose here I come…. Or maybe not. Not written, or what?? (Mentioned at the end of this one but doesn’t seem to exist!)

I've been happily zipping through these books/novellas (they very in length). They started in 2015 and I mistakenly thought the series was complete. This is the latest from Sept 2021 and I'm hooked and will be waiting for the next book to be published.

Brooke and Tess have decided to add to their family and things are not going smoothly. There is stress and Tess is worn down. Do they quit trying or take a break. By the end of the book the twins are turning 13 for a timeframe reference. This couple have a picture perfect life and yet they experience everyday stresses. Extended family adds to the support but also to the drama. It is like a happy soap opera and I was very happy with the ending.

Wonderful but too short!

It seems like I haven't read this series in a very long time. In this book 6, Dr. Brooke Campbell and Tess are raising three children and trying for another. As a bonus, both sets of grandparents are included. What a family. I love them! This series is so full of love and importance of family. JA's trademark laughter and love just fill these pages. Waiting for the next installment is going to be difficult. I just want to keep turning the pages!!!

Another Heartwarming Read

Love this series. Both Tess and Brooke have great character arcs that follow them through the series. I love how lesbian family life is portrayed in a positive light. We have families, trials and tribulations to go through and overcome just like everyone else in this world. We love our children, our spouses or partners, our friends, our families and put their needs before ours or discuss them so we can.make.sure we can live happy healthy lives. Everything isn't always perfect but communication, love, effort, compassion, empathy and understanding are factors that are in each of these books showing how important they are regardless of our fears of what may have happened in the past, because that's what it was, the past. You need to trust in the love you have here and now hold on tight and move forward. That is exactly what this growing family of 5 does. Brooke a doctor who has a practice and takes on call at the hospital, her wife Tess who is a stay at home mom right now with teen twins and baby under 2 who is also taking classes to become a doctor. She and Brooke have been try to get pregnant for some time now as well. Tess"s mom is not well and lives far away. She wants her parent to move closer, while Brooke's parents are local and can help out with the kids. Lately, Tess is extremely tired and stressed but there are things she isn"t telling Brooke because she doesn't want to add more to her late and some things she is.still trying to figure out. Brooke is having the same dilemma. They both need to.figure out how to talk to each other and put all their cards on the table because whatever they are both feeling will decide the future of their family.

I clicked on the dreaded get KU for two months for free yesterday (for reasons) and the algorithm spit out this almost immediately.

Ok read, didn’t remember much from the earlier books so maybe I will no longer be tempted.

Lovely book. I loved the glimpses into a family with doctors and how they handle personal dilemmas in comparison to their occupations. Also, how past doctors reflect on their choices.

The eavesdropping, LOL, the apples don't fall far from the trees

Overall, I'm really happy for everyone, my goodness the chaos to come..., there was some sad stuff happening that are unavoidable, unfortunately. But they will get thorough it.

And even though I usually hold grudges for years, even for fictional people, now I wish Tess' mum would have a different outcome. She have lots to atone for with her daughter and grandchildren.

I love that this was not the end for all these folks, but I'm not happy it's continuing though because I hate to wait haha.
