Lady Sarah Maxwell is in a whole heap of trouble. Which is odd considering, as the bluestocking of her family, she normally spends her time ensconced in books, not adventures. But when a snowstorm traps her in the village, the only person she is able to rely on is her brother’s best friend, known rake, and general ne’er-do-well, the Viscount of Spalding. He also happens to be her least favorite person in all of England. Perhaps the world. And yet, the more time they spend together, the more she wonders if Lord Spalding is what he appears or if there is a good man underneath all his bad behavior...
Stuck with a bluestocking...
The Viscount Spalding has better things to do than babysit a bluestocking. He’s got a business to start, a fortune to make, and a broken heart to mend. And most importantly, he’s got several pints of ale to drink because that’s the only thing that seems to help these days. If he were going to be trapped by a storm in an inn, couldn’t the lady at least have been a potential bride and not his friend’s surly sister? She can barely stand the sight of him and they fight like school children whenever they occupy the same room.
That is until their forced time together starts to be fun and Jake realizes that Sarah is beautiful underneath those wire-rimmed spectacles. And when they find themselves under the mistletoe...well. How can he resist a single kiss? And what’s a man to do when all he can think about is collecting another?
The sweet side of USA Today Bestselling author Tammy Andresen, Katherine Ann Madison is a lover of all things romantic—the sweeter, the better. The name is derived from her three daughters' names, and it's her goal to write romances that young teens all the way to her Nana Burton can read and enjoy. Full of heart, humor, and fun, Katherine is the light hearted, but still quick paced, romance your afternoon needs.
First impressions are said to go a long way, but every now and then one has to get to know a person better before placing derogatory labels on them. Lady Sarah only saw the decadent, unruly behavior of her brother's best friend, not understanding the cause behind his actions. Viscount Spalding is attracted to Lady Sarah, but cannot see beyond her bookish and judgmental attitude. They are wrong for each other in every way. However, it takes being trapped in a snowstorm to change all that and when Jake observes Sarah's vulnerability, his heart melts and it is enough for him to turn his behavior around, at least until he has safely delivered her back to her brother's home. This delightful romance touched me and made me smile as two people find the truth and learn to recognize the good in each other. However, there is still the problem of facing her brother. Although part of a series, this romance can be read as a standalone, one really does not want to miss all the happenings at the entertaining Maxwell house party. The novel closes on a sweet note, leaving one sister still to find her perfect match. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A well written, lovely romance Jake & Sarah have locked horns each time they meet & he always seems to end up insulting her. I loved both of them Sarah is the bluestocking who keeps her brother's ledgers. Jake hides his insecurities beneath a façade of a rake & drunkard but he's nursing a broken heart & the viscountcy is in financial trouble. I love the chemistry between the pair & how they went from enemies to lovers. I also loved their banter & how they constantly said the wrong thing. I delightful read, which I read in a sitting My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

She can't stand him because of his drinking his behavior and so much more but when they get trapped by a snowstorm at a village away from from the house party, she starts to see he is nothing like what she thought he was and he makes her feel better about herself.. And he gives her a taste of adventure along with love that she will not be letting go.. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.. I definitely look forward to the next book in this series..
Great book! I really enjoy the character’s development and self awareness journey. The complimentary attributes between Lady Sarah and Lord Spalding is fantastic- when they eventually discover them! The foreshadowing for the next book has me on edge… I can’t wait!
** I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. **
This is the second book in the new series and it didn’t disappoint. It was so sweet and romantic. A perfect quick read. The characters are beautifully written and the setting perfect. The set-up for the next book has me very intrigued and I am really looking forward to it. I received this book as an ARC and freely give my review.
This is so much better than book 1. Again the plot's pretty simple and uncomplicated, but there's a complexity to the characters and their personal growth. Jake is a sweetheart💋, Sarah is ok. Looking forward to book 3. 🤞will it be better?
Having enjoyed the first book in the series, I was looking forward to reading this second book and it didn't disappoint. A thoroughly delightful story that sees Sarah, the no nonsense sister, experience her first true adventure which includes Jake, a known rake who seems to like his drink! When they are stranded at an inn during a snowstorm, they get to know each other better and I thought it was so sweet they way Jake makes her realize how beautiful and desirable she really is.
Katherine Ann Madison and Maggie Dallen are doing a wonderful job writing this series and I look forward to the next book.

A Snowstorm Serenade for Lady Sarah, Book 2 of the Seasons of Love series, was about Lady Sarah Maxwell, second oldest sister of four to Lord Tobias Maxwell, the Earl of Evans, and Lord Jacob "Jake" Spalding, Viscount Spalding, Tobias' best friend. Sarah, a bespectacled bluestocking, had never planned to marry. She didn't believe she'd ever find a man who appreciated her for her mind and not just her talents (what little she had) or her looks (which were not perfect, according to her own opinion). Even though she and her three sisters, along with their aunt, had arranged for a Christmastide house party, during which each of the sisters planned to find a husband. Sarah doubted she would find one who would meet her qualifications. Jake, having recently lost his father and inherited the title of Viscount, had also lost the woman to whom he had been betrothed since childhood. While he had believed he loved her she, on the other hand, had found another to love and marry. It was an amazing book. One of not only discovery of others, but also a discovery of self. Both Jake and Sarah experienced each of these revelations. They learned about each other while at the same time learning new things about themselves. It was heartwarming to read. Going from suspicion to trusting, to love in a matter of days, while some might think it too fast, was actually quite romantic. The angst and drama were minimal but in a good way. Once again, the romance was simmering below the surface waiting to be released. The characters were well-developed, mature, though each was a bit insecure due to their backgrounds and the way they were treated growing up. My only issue so far with the series is that the author has failed in each book (first and second) to give the main male character a last name. Most titled men do not have the same surname as that of their title. For instance, Lord Tobias Maxwell did not go by the name Tobias Evans, for Evans was his title, not the name he was born with. I found that a bit off-putting...but not enough to make the story any less appealing. It was definitely worthy of a five-star rating and to be added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
When Lady Sarah comes out of an afternoon in the book shop, she finds out that she's in a blizzard without proper clothing and the carriages have all returned to her aunt's house party. Her only hope is that Viscount Spalding, her brother's best friend and another guest of her aunt, might still be in the inn where he went hours ago to have a drink. She gets to the door of the inn, just as the drunken rake stumbles out. He mumbles a couple of questions and then topples over on his hands and knees with his face buried in the snow! He's useless. Ah, but he arises as a proper gentleman, taking off his coat and putting it on her, picking her up and carrying her so her feet don't get frostbite with the soaked cloth shoes, carries her to the fireplace, beckons the innkeeper for the last two rooms, and orders supper and a chaperone! They are snowed in for the next day and night, too. In this short time, they learn many new things about themselves and each other while having fun neither were having at the house party. They arrive back at her aunt's both changed by their new insights and madly in love! Another recommended read by Maggie Dallen and her cohert.
I absolutely love these sweet, romantic short reads that pack a wallop! You fall in love with the main & secondary characters quickly & in this book Jake & Sarah learn a lot about each other while they are snowed in. Sarah had come to town to buy a new ledger for her & her brother & Jake, Viscount Spalding had come in to meet with his solicitor to see if his estate & investment in putting him in the poor house. Jake is Sarah's brother's best friend & she has always believed him to be a rake & led her brother into nefarious situations - he has always known that Sarah was a bluestocking & took care of her brother the earl's books & was quite tight-laced. To their amazement they got to know one another & both were wrong about the other one but what a fun romance being snowed in at the inn in town for days. The also got their HEA but what of Jake's investment's? Will he still have to marry for a dowry? Does she trust him or her brother - read it, it is so much fun. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
SO SWEET!!! A Snowstorm Serenade for Lady Sarah by Maggie Dallen and Katherine Ann Madison is book 2 in the Seasons of Love series and what a sweet series this is. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. These are 2 of my favorite authors and I have read all the books they have written together and they never disappoint. This regency holiday enemies to lovers story is easy to read, original and just so very charming. What can I say… a romance and Christmastide… my favorite read. This story has a innocent being stranded at an inn, needing to marry for money, miss judging someone, finding one’s financials, redoing their books, secret investments, a loving brother, scheming sister to help their brother, a house party, protecting one’s reputation, being different, coming to their rescue and falling in love. I am highly recommending this book. As I said it is just so sweet!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Lady Sarah does not care at all for her brother's best friend Jake Viscount Spalding especially when she suspects him of involving her brother in some unfavorable investment. But a trip in the snow lands them stranded together and the chance to get to know each other better and not just the face they show the world. Jake is struggling with the need to succeed, his responsibilities, and his financial situation and turns to drinking as a way to drown his fear but being stranded with his best friend's sister has him seeing her in a new light he never had before. Will they be able to see past their first impression? This is a sweet story about looking past the face Jake and Sarah show and seeing who they truly are. Maggie Dallen never disappoints with an HEA. Can't wait for the next one.
Voluntarily read and reviewed an arc of this book.
This is another amazing, sweet and swoony read from the Seasons Of Love series. Sarah was just going about her normal day didn't expect to experience a love adventure that will cause her to see many situations and people in a different light and at the same time discover herself and the real Jake. Jake was not who she thought he was. She had tons of assumptions based on his naughty and rude behavior towards herself.
Jake's and Sarah's love story was unplanned unwanted in the beginning, making the discovery of their real feelings for each other a lot more swoony, exciting and entertaining! Their short snowy adventure together created so many changes with their situation and views. Their love story is less dramatic because they are both very direct and straightforward with each other. This story has the sweetest and heartwarming ending.
An endearing, romantic story that will give your heart a sigh!
Another wonderful adventure in this delightful series and this time it's Sarah's turn. Considered a bluestocking, encased in her books, she never expects to be stuck in a snowstorm with none other than Jake, Viscount Spaulding, her brother's friend. A total wastral it seems... or is he really?
Jake has his own problems with pressures to amass funds for his estate and pull his life together. Not babysit a bluestocking in a snowstorm!
Fortunately when two people are forced together, you never know what will happen! Loved, Loved this story!
Jake is drinking himself into a stupor over his lady love choosing someone else! Sarah is a bookkeeper and helps her brother out with his books and believes when he's around Jake large sums come up missing out of his ledgers! Jake has made "wise" investments but his personal life had him in a drunken stupor really? Then he confesses at one point he teases Sarah because she's beautiful like they are 5? Umm not romantic or even adults! Not too sure about this one but I love Tobias and some real emotions in this story but love certainly not believable so soon?
I enjoyed reading about Sarah and Jake. I guess it took being away from her sisters to finally be herself, it also helped to have Jake there to finally see that she was hiding her insecurities. They went to the village and got snowed in, stuck at an inn. They sang carols and played the piano, which she was terrible at and he was very good at besides he had an excellent singing voice. I'm glad they got their HEA. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
The second book in the Seasons of Love series a well written story with a very good storyline that held my interest from cover to cover. I enjoyed seeing Lady Sarah Maxwell and Viscount Jake Spalding get their HEA. The story was well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Charming, romantic and amusing story with a Bluestocking and her brother’s handsome best friend. A snowstorm reveals that their spats are unexpectedly covering feelings they never expected to have. What will happen when they finally give in!
Lady Sarah thinks her only redeeming quality is her brain whereas Lord Spalling thinks his face is his. This beauty and the geek historical romance shows this vouples insecurities translate to misconstrued comments from the other. Delightful story
I have enjoyed this series so far! Such sweet, entertaining stories that have romance, a little humor and heartwarming moments! Jake and Sarah are adorable together! I look forward to the next book!
So much fun, I finished it in a few hours! These MCs were quirky and easy to love. I really enjoyed seeing them grow and their love bloom. While it’s a short book, I felt like the pacing was just right. Nothing felt rushed. If you enjoy sweet, clean, regency romance, do check it out.
Usually with these types of series I'm only interested in the first book. However the characters interested me and I enjoyed this read as well. Character development that was quite satisfactory.
I liked this book for the funny parts and how She found what she thought about Jake wasn't the real person nor what people thought about her wasn't real either.
