After reading quite a few collection of short stories by our very own Indian writers ,I can proudly say that over the years we have come a long way in this genre. One after the another ,such amazing tales are being woven by all the contributors in general that I get amazed at their skills. This one is no exception either.

A collection of 24 stories with to the point and impeccable narration is what makes this anthology quite commendable. All the stories have some or the other surprise at the end and the gradual unfolding of events in front of your eyes which one never saw coming is what makes this an applaudable work .

The brevity maintained by the author is the USP of this novel . All the stories are around 2-4 pages long and in such less words she has created a unique world of figments that one can only appreciate reading. The witty sense of author is too good. But no review can be completed without constructive criticism. There are some tales which surely needed elaboration and should have been more detailed. Also one downside is the tales are not very different from each other . After a time one feels like we are only reading variants of characters in various stories. The cover though nice is less vibrant.

Overall a perfect book to take you out of the reading slump.

This is a collection of 25 short stories on varied themes. The common factor in each of the story is that each of them has a twisted and unusual ending. The stories are rich in vocabulary and speak a lot in the fewest words possible.

The stories have the magic and these are the stories of common people. They're extremely beautiful, I must say that these have been composed by the author's heart and are exceptionally good. Short stories are rather difficult to write than a full length novel, so that the stories remain crisp. The stories are quite interesting, and well-written, keeping the pace and do not bore the reader.

The title fits appropriately however I would have preferred a different cover because the spider and it's web creeps me out, whereas the content inside the book doesn't. The stories are short in length and the entire book is short as well. The only complaint is the eccentric usage of vocabulary that sometimes bothers the reading experience.

The Tangled Weave by Mona Mohanty
⭐⭐⭐.8

This book is a collection of 24 short stories which has many amazing cute, socially related stories.

Among all the 24 stories, the story that captured my heart was 'Food for Heart'. It was cute and adorable. The MC here went to a restaurant daily and always ordered more food and left with the remaining food. He was quite serious kinda guy too. But argh, I loved that story so much.

Some stories are barely 2 pages, so it's perfect to read when you're in a reading slump and craves to read something short and crisp. The stories in the book showed about menal health, the society norms, bond of Husband and Wife, and so on.

What I felt lacked was that the book had 24 stories, so could've made the stories diverse. And most stories Main character had same profession saying they work in MNC.

If you love reading short stories, and would like to have a quick read, then you'll like this book.

The Tangled Weave is a collection of short stories. All in all, I liked how a variety of stories were put simultaneously in a sophisticated way.

Each story talks about some different concept and is distinctive. There are concepts like love, loss, betrayal, sexuality, familial bonds, animal love, sexual abuse, compassion, loss of a loved one, single parent problems, abusive
relationships, romance and many more discussed in this book in a very natural manner. I loved how the author discussed so many topics in a short story that too in a very easy-going flow.

The language is comprehensible. Each story is compelling, pleasing plus the plot varies according to each story. The best thing about the author’s writing style is the way she ends each story. Moreover, the title is very appropriate and the cover is unique as well.

This was my first book by the author and I enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for something short and enlivening to read.

This collection of short stories was surprisingly entertaining and gripping from the very beginning. 'The Tangled Weave-A cobweb of tales' is my first book by the author Mona Mohanty and she did not disappoint me! The book consists of 25 enticing short-stories which keep you hooked till last moment.I loved the fact that each story wasn't more than 4 to 5 pages but shed light on different social topics.Every story offered something different from the previous one. And even though they all belonged to a completely different world and new characters ,one could easily get engaged and get into the plot quickly. That's definitely the magic of author's writing skills,I feel!

Various topics such as loss, betrayal ,abuse, love, karma were expressed through genres of suspense and horror. Each story ended with a twist or gave reader's a shock. The endings were unexpected but were lot of dependent on fate factor rather than the protagonist's will. And that's what we experience many times in life as well. Even if we try to break through cycles and abusive/toxic situations we are unable to break them even if we put conscious efforts. When we witness such situations from third party view it feels that the unjustice can be solved or a stand against it can be taken. But when we are in the shoes of victim it doesn't seem that feasible. I think that's what author tried to tell us through these mini-stories. She gave us that perspective to look at such situations.

My personal favorites from the collection were 'The healer's hand' ,A salty bond and Moonshine as they handled very unusual subjects. They respectively spoke about topics such as declining mental health of students in today's rat race, unfaithfulness in marriage from wife's side rather than husband and having huge age gap between partners. I agree that these topics are not totally unspoken about but I liked the way author has made her point and tried to find a ray of hope at each one them.

The book surely reminded me of radio shows where we get to listen entertaining short stories within the breaks. So if you are someone who has very busy schedule or not much of a reader but still want to read something short and crisp, also if you're a fan of plot twists then this is a perfect read for you!

The Tangled Weave : A cobweb of Tales is an amazing short story collection by Mona Mohanty

This book is a quick and easy to read collection of short stories and yet will keep you engaged till the very end. This was my first book by the author and I loved reading it!

Weaving your dreams into the fabric of life begins with a single thread of an incident , and then slowly these incidents and events join in as we start co-weaving with others around us
and this book reminded me that the web of creation has an uncanny way of coming together to weave the beautiful patterns in our life whether good or bad and they need to be embraced with all honesty.

Such is the essence of this fantastic book. Each story is unique and speaks about something different and I really loved how the author has combined various emotions of
Love, drama , horror ,suspense , Loss , Betrayal , Karma and family bonds to beautifully weave them into a collection.

The Language used or the writing is easy to comprehend and hence is perfect for people who just started reading as well as for those who love suspense thrillers or short stories!
Some of the stories titled are : The healer's hand , The snapshot , Pug love , A salty bond, full circle food for the heart , the homecoming and the connection.

One of my personal fav was The salty bond and while i was reading , it made me feel as though i am watching a series on netflix because it literally kept me on the edge of my seat and heart racing
to know what would happen next and that i believe is the sign of a beautifully written story hence i hope few stories in this book are eventually written as full length stories by the author or it would be interesting to watch them adapted into web series as well .

I love the cover of this book. It reminds me that the spider reflects the power to deal with the hardships we encounter. There are many opportunities in life. Also, our path to success is littered with many threats. The spider guides us to open our eyes to all these. It reminds us to be mindful of the choices we make in life.

The Tangled Weave : A cobweb of Tales is an amazing short story collection by Mona Mohanty. This little book has more than 20 short stories which are very engaging and enjoyable.

The one thing that makes a short story collection perfect in my opinion, is the twist they have near the end which leaves us thrilled and our mouth wide open. This short story collection has this X-factor making it interesting and entertaining.

Some of the short stories have the kind of plot that can be used to write a full length novel like the short story The Surprise, while others leave you spellbound and in awe of the author's storytelling expertise with their unpredictable and thrilling end like the short story The Moving Hands.

All of the short stories have diverse plots and characters. The quality that I admire most about the author Mona Mohanty's writing style is the wit with which she ends these stories.

The cover of the book is amazing and tempts the reader to uncover the mystery of this short story collection by peeling each layer as she reads and relishes each story and keeps turning pages. The author has weaved an intriguing and uniquely beautiful cobweb of tales in The Tangled Weave and I loved this short story collection.

🌻The Tangled Weave: a cobweb of tales is an anthology of 24 eclectic anecdotes from different aspects of life. The title conveys that the genre is short stories but what kind of short stories? that we will get to know by reading the book or oh wait, what are the reviews for? so let me give you all a comprehensive idea about the book.

🌻All the 24 stories are extraordinary in their respective ways. Each tale takes you to a different realm with a fresh feeling and that is what I love about anthologies. Every story is very beautifully weaved where some will leave you with a warm feeling while others with a bittersweet kind of feeling. The author has kept the climax of all the stories very skilful with a twist that will make the readers ponder for a while before starting with the next one.

🌻The writing style is very beginner-friendly and the read is fast-paced. It is one of the great choices to come out of a reading slump and can also be a perfect gift for your dear ones. I would like to also share with you all that the author is an IRS officer having served for more than 3 decades. It was a great privilege to get a chance to read this book by Mona Mohanty ma'am. I will recommend this book to everybody, please do give it a try.

'The Tangled Weave' is an anthology of 24 tales neatly written by Mona Mohanty conveying the message of love, strength, karma and respect. Each short story is unique, having a varied subject line, evoking a different emotion as you complete reading them.

The protagonists of the stories are mostly female and the plot revolves around human relationships. The author has addressed many issues from domestic abuse, philandering, animal love, friendship, kindness towards strangers, misunderstanding in relationships and fate. Within a few words the author narrates a gripping tale often bombing the climax on the last line, which I loved.

As a human we all romanticize the idea that the death of the toxic person in our life will end are problems or an acquaintance or stranger would give us the elixir of happiness but that's not how troubles end in real life. I wish the stories had more realistic elements.
#readingfatima

But if you are a person who loves 'Happy Ending' and 'Karma Believer', this book is for you. Lucid language in the book. The stories are hardly 3-4 pages long which makes it a perfect book for beginners and short story readers.

The Tangled Weave: A Cobweb of Tales is a collection of 25 short stories. It is an assorted collection of short stories from different genres.
Every story is very fast-paced, there is little to no time to delve into things which is good and bad thing at the same time.
The best part is every story has its own essence and is very much different from others.
Every story discusses different issues like relationships, depression, humanity, love, marriage, parenthood, etc.,

Here are some of my favorites -
The Silent Echo
The Cloak of Love
The Chameleon Turns

Here are the few things I wish were done better -
In almost all the stories, the characters make hasty decisions. If only they took a minute of their time to try and talk things out, it would've been so much better.
Few stories have female protagonists with so many capabilities but they chose to live a miserable life, but they don't do anything about it. In the end, fate intertwines and takes the garbage out of their lives. I would've loved to see them take control of their life instead of leaving everything to fate.

Overall it is a nice fast-paced read to get you out of the reading slump.

The stories are simple, short and crisp. They finish in a few pages with a quick problem and resolution. They are written in third person showing Mohanty's craft of using just the precise words. The last sentence is the hallmark in all stories. It either serves as the climax, a summary, an enigmatic title or expresses a heartfelt exclamation. Sometimes, it even gives you a lesson to take away and cherish.

Mohanty has touched upon relevant themes; ranging from love to friendship to sibling bond to social mores to patriarchy to gender issues and animal care. Every story has the potential to be elaborated into a poignantly themed novella with vivid expressions to invoke all your senses; at the same time, leaving your emotions jolted and praises jostling among each other.

If you are moving from the digest reading age to the world of literature the book will prepare you well. It exercises your thoughts and the knack of finding the first from the last.

This short read is a collection of stories, an assortment of sorts. I like the tagline of the book, the stories did feel like a cobweb, but not in a negative way. I liked how the different stories were put together in an elegant manner.✨

Each story is different and talks about a different topic and I love how the author has tried to add as many topics as possible and weave them into a collection. There's love, loss, betrayal, sexuality, familial bonds, kindness, animal love, sexual abuse, compassion, loss of a loved one, single parent problems, abusive relationships, human trafficking, theft, humour, romance and more topics discussed in this book, and it is done with ease. The language is lucid and the stories are written in a to-the-point manner💛

This was my first book by the author and I loved reading it! I would recommend it to everyone who are looking for something short and refreshing to read. A good ⭐⭐⭐.75/5 star read for me!🌻

The Tangled Weave: A Cobweb of Tales was a quick read. The book is only 112 pages and can be finished in a few hours. It's a collection of 24 short stories that deals with emotions and moral values.

I was too excited to read this as I was provided with a review copy. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it engaging. The stories are good but didn't make me want to read more.

Though these are short stories, a few could have been more detailed as they felt like forced endings. A few stories were quite predictable while some surprised me. My favourite ones were The Return and The Connection.

Most of the stories had good-natured characters who were written only to bring moral values. They didn't feel real. I like exploring imperfect characters. Overall, the writing is good and the author has tried to make the stories look unique. This book could be a good choice if you want a short and light read.

An intricately woven tale of 24 different stories which depict human relationships and bonds at its rawest form.

The stories range from talking about a woman's self respect, mental health to different aspects of human bonds from the love between in law's to the love between a daughter and her family. The story deals with various social topics too. Standing up against societal prejudices, fighting for your love and realising the importance of family are all topics discussed in this book.

The stories are different yet same in certain aspects. The endings were something that I was looking forward towards the end of every story. The points at which the stories ended made me feel rather full and content.

My favourite stories were "Food for the Heart" and "The Cloak of Love".

If you are in the mood for a short and crisp book and one which can help you get out of your reading slump, then this one is a sure recommendation.

The Tangled weave- a cobweb of tales is a collection of 25 short stories, covering all genres. All 25 short stories are beautiful in their respective way.

I know that writing short stories are very difficult than writing novels. Every story had a twist at the end. Each story is different like love, relationships, parents, kindness, abuses, and many more. This book has kept me hooked. After every climax, I was wondering about the end before moving to the next story.

The writing style is simple. The cover of the book is beautiful. The stories are 2-3 pages long, so this book is a write choice to read when you are having a reading slump. You can finish one story within five minutes.

The author has curated the topics beautifully. It's an absolute honor to read a book by Mona Mohanty ma'am who is working in the Indian Revenue Service for more than three decades.

Overall, it is - all the emotions in one book.

It's been a long time since I read short stories such a perfect narration.
It was a quick read it hardly takes an hour or two to finish this book.
Every story talks about different issues which is so well narrated. It was fun to read, some stories made me and little emotional and some just left me perplexed.
What I like the most about this book was that the stories were very engaging and language used is so easy that a beginner can also go for this book.
Of all the stories, my favourite were 'The carriage way' which describes failed marriage, cheating and finally getting a closure that everyone deserves.
And 'From the mouth of babes' which talks about patriarchy, abuse and a new beginning.

🌀If I had to describe this book in a few words, they would be - 'A refreshing yet beginner friendly collection of short stories.'

🌀The book proves to be a quick and good read for beginners due to it's short and easy narration.

🌀Majority of the stories in the book revolve around women protagonists and offer various themes such as mystery, thrill, suspense, love and drama. The stories also make it a point to challenge stereotypes and offer refreshing perspective towards the age old stigmas.

🌀Though I felt that some of the storylines were being repeated but nevertheless I do recommend the book for beginners and advanced readers who wish to take a break from heavy reads as the stories are very diverse and engaging.

🌀A few of my personal favourites were - The silent echo, the carriage way, beyond the night, food for the soul. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

It's a pretty interesting quick read and a great way for beginners to get into reading. The stories are pretty diverse and engaging but there is a certain "indianness" attached to each story. I usually don't go for short stories but this was one was actually good. Another distinct feature of Mohanty's writing is that the characters are very relatable characters who we feel like we know and have met in real life. It's a pretty honest book I'd say. There's a certain innocence and simplicity attached to the book which makes it likeable. And yeah after reading the book the title does make a lot of sense. So I'd say that the book is worth a shot and the author as a spider has weaved a pretty good web of characters, places and storylines.

Beautiful stories with unusual endings🦋
The tangled weave
- by Mona Mohanty

It's a beautiful collection of short stories taken from common lives around us with unusual and not so traditional endings.

Every one of the story seems to end in a way that is not normal but still seems to fit in just right, even when you think the story is way to unusual, it still seems to find its rhythm and sets in🦋🦋 Though the vocabulary can be a little speed breaker, once you get in the pace of the stories, it's all worth it 💛🌻

The tangled weave, A cobweb of tales by Mona Mohanty

Started reading this today at 9am and finished at 11am.
This is probably the fastest paced short story I've read.

This 100 page novel will keep you hooked till the very last page. It's so engrossing with the right amount of drama , horror and suspense.

The writing is very simple yet impactful and the author has woven the story very well. Would totally recommend it for all my suspense fans❤️

As the name suggests, this book has a cluster of tales to think, reflect and act upon. Mona Mohanty has put across messages vividly in the simplest form. The stories revolve around kindness, perseverance, karma, love, acceptance and the Hope.

Of all the 25 stories in the book, I personally loved the story named THE SILENT Echo which talks about the dramatic end of a drama artist.

Although I enjoyed reading it, I craved for more details. (I guess, once a novel head - forever a novel head).

The tangled weave is a Collection of short stories which depicts different faces of humans with a ton load of irony. I liked most of the chapters. My personal favourite was “From the Mouths of Babes” Tbh no other character in the whole book made me laugh as hard as Mithoo did. This book will make you feel all kinds of emotions with a span of few minutes. (A sort of motivational read for those in belief of Karma and HEAs.)
