This was so unbelievably bad...
Ok, maybe my expectations were too high and I'm upset that I wasn't impressed, but also this was just not well-written at all. I've seen this described as the lesbian version of Killing Stalking, and unfortunately that was a big title to live up to. For all of my criticisms of Killing Stalking, at least it was actually interesting. Sorry, but this was just boring. Not just that, it was cliché and predictable, while also managing to be ridiculous? Like, why is a reporter taking it upon herself to track a serial killer? Where are the actual detectives and investigators?? Why have they not stopped this rampant reporter that could potentially compromise their investigation? She literally goes around showing people a murder victim’s dead body like it's the most normal thing to do.
Another thing that got on my nerves is every time the serial killer would mimic the actions of the protagonist in the mc's novel, our mc would go through this whole monologue of "Hmmm, this seems really familiar. Wonder where I saw this before..." as if she doesn’t know what she wrote in her own damn story! Not to mention, it’s painfully obvious who the serial killer is, and if our mc just put her two brain cells to work she could figure it out.
As for the cliché: the mc is a meek, studious pushover who gets harassed by debt collectors because her dead beat dad owes money and abandoned her. A tale as old as time…Oh, and she also gets bullied…in college. Like, come on. This is so ridiculous.
I will say, I did like our mc’s friend; she was the only redeemable character for me. It was sad to see her so hung up on getting the mc to notice her feelings for her, especially knowing that the mc was too busy falling in love with her professor that has absolutely no personality other than being hot and highly suspicious.
I’d imagine there’s some lukewarm twists and shocking moments further into the story, but honestly I doubt it’s done in a clever manner and can live without knowing how the story concludes.
