The Younglings: Shadows & Magic

Rate this book
Humans have no idea what lurks in the shadows.

Mortals don't expect to see supernaturals. Their minds rarely consider the possibility, even when it's staring them right in the face. I was one such person ... until I met my estranged father.

Let me introduce myself. The name is Carter. Quinn Carter. A witty, laid-back, regular guy, who just happens to be half-demon.

Finding out Dad is a demon king was like a sucker punch to the gut. Seriously, I'm a total biological freak. Meeting him was the catalyst for my life tail-spinning into a new world-a world where things of legend are real.

The one positive about this whole situation is the friends I have made. Good friends. But they too have secrets ... big secrets. They're not exactly your average individuals. Turns out demons aren't the only paranormal creatures out there.

I also need to mention a Vampire Ministry, evil stab-worthy demons, and troubled spirits stranded on the spectral plane. As a consequence, life for my friends and me has become a tad problematic.

You'd be surprised how often supernatural beings are the source behind the headline news in mortal newspapers. And it is our job to sort it out...

Things for my paranormal friends and me are about to get very interesting.

I’ve been a voracious reader ever since I was a little girl wandering the library aisles, letting my imagination run wild in fantastical worlds. These days, I’m still a devoted bibliophile, forever enchanted by the escapism of swoon-worthy romances and faraway realms. I believe books hold infinite possibilities—and mine are no exception. In my NA series, expect magic, sharp banter, morally grey heartthrobs, fierce and witty heroines, and more than a little passion. My YA urban fantasy has magic, danger, and super-hot supernaturals.

I live in rural West Yorkshire, England, with two ridiculously gorgeous pups, two perpetually cynical cats who very much run the household, a chicken with attitude… and a husband. When I’m not writing, I’m either devouring fantasy novels (the more romance, the better), laughing with friends, or rambling through the countryside with my dogs.

I'm mainly on Instagram, where I'm ready to talk fictional crushes and nerd out over books. (Okay, okay. And I've also been known to share snippets and teasers from my upcoming novels, if you're into that sort of thing...) Please feel free to chat with me there @craggshm. I love talking with fellow authors and readers.

This was such a fun young adult paranormal fantasy! I found myself completely sucked in and couldn’t put the book down. Easy to read and flows really well. Quinn Carter finds out in high school that (surprise!) he’s half demon. His best friend Eve is half angel. Quinn’s father (a powerful demon) has had him watched over by Mrs. D (who was one of my favorite characters) who may be more than she seems. Now Quinn is aware of his demon side, and begins to make friends with other supernatural teens at his school. Together they form a team that works together to fight supernatural problems. I LOVE the group cast of characters… Eve, Eloise, Millie, Leo, Harry. This had all the fun stuff I love in a YA novel, parties and high school drama, plus supernatural battles, kidnappings, and drama as various members of the group work out their feelings for each other. They have to work together to figure out who the demon is that is responsible for a series of killings, and later save people they love before it’s too late. This book has TONS of action. Some of my favorite scenes were between Quinn and his father, who he gets to know over the course of the book. I loved the demon horses and the hellhounds. Very excited to see what happens in book 2!

I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Lovebookstours.

The Younglings is a YA supernatural book about 16 year old Quinn Carter. Quinn is just a typical teenage boy, when he starts to experience strange things and is confused by them and why they're happening. He discovers he is half demon and seeks answers and support from his beloved adopted grandmother Mrs D.
Then he discovers his best friend Eve also has abilities and that she is half angel.
When their teacher is found murdered the pair team up to uncover what really happened and discovers why classmates are suddenly disappearing.
Quinn and Eves friendship starts to evolve from just being friends which was a slow burn romance which is a trope I love.
The first third was mainly about Quinn discovering who he is and his abilities which was important but did feel like it dragged on a little but too long, but the plot once it began was fantastic.
A quick and easy read and I look forward to reading more from Helena soon.

The Younglings is one of the best books I've read this year. Quinn is a normal teenager... until he figures out perhaps he's not and his father if a powerful Demon. But not only that, it seems he's not the only one, and some of his friends seem to have strange powers too. Including his high school crush, Eve, who is half angel. This makes things a little hard for Quinn, being half demon...
I love the witty style of the book, and Quinn's point of view is hilariously realistic for a boy his age.
In this book, Quinn and his friends go on a few adventures and we get to know more about them. All the characters are lovable and feel real.
The book kept me entertained from start to finish and I didn't want to put it down. I think I read it in two days because I just loved the amusing tone in which Quinn tells about his (mis)adventures and I couldn't help rooting for Quinn to get closer to Eve among the paranormal chaos they were going through. But did he? You will have to read the book to find out.
This book has angels, demons, witches and ghosts, even werewolves and vampires. But it doesn't feel like a strange mix at all, they just go together so well and the author managed to put together a great story. I can't wait for the next one!

Absolutely superb.
This was a fantastic addition to the fantasy genre. Fantastic fantasy!
I am always rather apprehensive to reading fantasy as I am fairly new to the genre, and I need the story to be really accessible for me to follow. This was perfectly suited to my needs. There is something for everyone- demons, vampires, witches and the list goes on.
The characters Quinn and Eve are fabulous, so likeable and their chemistry just oozes out of the kindle.
I would have loved to read this in my teens, as I think it would have given me a much earlier introduction to fantasy books! I am loving having the opportunity to read books I may never have read. Books like this make me grateful for the blog tours I am invited to.
So excited to read the next installment in what is a fabulous series.

I appreciated receiving an ARC copy of The Younglings from author Helena M. Craggs in exchange for an honest review. This is a solid YA paranormal read, especially for a debut novel. There are demons and angels, witches and ghosts, and even a vampire. We experience their stories through a half-demon teenager named Quinn, who is as adorable as he is somewhat clueless. This fast-paced, entertaining story has so much to love about it and it’s perfect for teenage readers. Well done! And I look forward to more from this author.

*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

I really enjoyed the smooth writing style and realistic teen dialogue. Even when the characters made me frustrated, it rang true to their youthful ages and characters. And boy, did Quinn and Eve frustrate me — notice what's right in front of your faces, for crying our loud! 😆

Plot wise, the "ghostbusting" and supernatural super team aspect was fun and held my attention quite well. Overall, a solid teen read.

I had the honour of receiving an ARC of the debut novel by Helena. This is a fantastic story that deals with so many issues in real-life cloaked in the fantasy realm. Your writing is evocative of some of my favourite fantasy writers, such as Robin Hobb and Joe Abercombie.
Helena has created a rich world full of compelling characters that mesmerise you and capture your imagination. Bravo Helena!

For #FebruarySheWrote, where I read exclusively female authors who use the pronouns she/her, the most outright, pure fun I had amongst all the wonderful books I read, was reading the YA supernatural urban fantasy, "The Younglings: Shadow and Magic", by Helena M. Craggs.

The plot of the book focuses on Quinn Carter. Quinn is a teenager with a lot going on! He grows up feeling odd and and outcast, and is struggling with all sorts of emotions towards his life and upbringing. While he loves his mother, Helen, and his surrogate aunt, Mrs. D, who is his caregiver, he wonders about the father who abandoned him and his mother while he was very young.

The oddball Quinn starts out being ostracized, and eventually bullied by fellow students in primary school. But his saviour is his plucky (and cute) friend Eve, who stands up to the bullies on Quinn's behalf. Quinn develops an abiding friendship (and crush) on Eve, as they grow into teenage years. Meanwhile, with her husband and Quinn's father disappeared and presumed dead, Helen begins to date Eve's father, Frank, strengthening the bond between Eve and Quinn.

As he matures, Quinn discovers he has special powers, and he doesn't know what to do about it. He keeps his abilities a secret, even as he becomes a good-looking, athletic, and more popular young adult, no longer the target of bullies. Eve grows into a well-liked and beautiful teenager whom Quinn is now secretly fully in love with. But Quinn soon discovers she too is equipped with strange powers, though different from Quinn's.

Quinn's long-lost dad - the mysterious Mr. Atua - arrives on the scene, and gives Quinn earth-shattering news. Atua claims Quinn is half-demon, and that Mr. Atua is a full demon, and that Mr. Atua had to abscond on Quinn and Helen to save them from danger pursuing Atua. With his world turned upside down, Quinn turns to faithful Mrs. D. for solace, only to discover she too is a demon. Quinn then learns his beloved Eve is half-angel, and that's where things REALLY begin to take off!

This book was a great romp through a world of werewolves, angels, demons, humans, and more. There is a vampire school, a murder to solve, lots of adventures and adversaries to overcome, friendships to make, powers to be realized, and coming-of-age. And of course, as one should expect in YA fiction, teens falling in love, and tortured over whether or not their love will ever be returned by the object of their affection.

For YA fans of the now iconic "Twilight" series, this book was an easy, fast-paced, witty, and heartwarming read, with the right amount of action, creepiness, and supernatural elements thrown in to spice things up. The novel is almost 400 pages, but it reads lightly, like a book half that size. Pure reading pleasure alone, gets "The Younglings" 4.75 stars out of 5.

First of all I'd like to thank the author form a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Helena has taken all my favourite TV shows, brought them together and basically put them all in a book!!! Lots of different supernatural creatures getting together to rid the world of evil forces, along with all the teen drama, I mean, what more does a reader want!?
Although the story is set in the present day, it really has a 90s feel to it which I absolutely loved. If you were a fan of Charmed or Buffy the vampire slayer then, you MUST read this book! Yes, ok, it comes with a bit of "cheese" and some things were a bit predictable, but I had a smile of my face from the first to the last page! Another thing I loved about this book was the tone of voice, really funny and witty.
I'm so pleased the author asked me to review her very first book, and I will be waiting (impatiently!) For the second book which is due next year.
You can already pre-order Younglings now and the launch will be on the 13/09!

A very well done book! And it's by an indie-author.

This is YA fantasy with demons, witches, angels, vampires; you name it, it's probably in here.

I think if you enjoyed the TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, then you will enjoy this as well. It includes people of different colour and some mild LGTBQ, so it should be pleasing to a wide audience. There is violence, though a lot of that happens off-screen.

I found this to be a welcome palate-cleanser after reading a lot of modern fantasy that's all blood-and-guts violence and swearing.

This was more measured and thoughtful. I felt like the author cared about her readers as much as she cared about her characters.

All-in-all a very satisfying and enjoyable read.

I have to start this review with a Thank You because if it wasn’t for Love Books Tours, I might never have discovered the fantastic Helena M. Craggs’s The Younglings series. And so, from that, you can guess how I will be rating book 1 - Shadow & Magic. Yep, five MAHOOSIVE stars!
It is honestly a new favourite.

YA Paranormal Fantasy with the best characters EVER! Oh, my days! I love them all, but Quinn, the main male lead, is epic! So damn funny, clearly very handsome, and the greatest friend you could ever want and have.
Don’t get me wrong, the other good guys & gals are epic too, but Quinn Carter stole the show or should I say book? Lol.
One of the things I loved most has to be the language. It is just very British. The phrases, expressions everything. The writing is perfect.
Now we get on to the story itself and that’s fricking awesome, too! I mean, not only do we have Quinn and Eve discovering who they are and their unique new abilities, but the coming together of The Spooky Crew (so-called thanks to Leo), a bunch of wicked “teenagers” that are so much more than meets the eye.

And what would a fantasy book be without battles and bad guys? Well, fear not, there is plenty of both.
Danger lurks around every corner and that’s just the kids at school! Lol, Honestly though, the fights/battles are fantastic and truly come to life thanks to the stunning writing.
I am now excited and terrified for book 2, Fire & Magic. Check back on June 17th as it’s my stop on the book tour.

I do have one issue with this book (hard to believe, I know) and that’s the names of some of the characters. I don’t like a certain vampire series and hate being reminded of it, so when you have characters called Esme, Bella & Edward (not vampires, I must add) it annoys me, but not enough for me to lower the star rating.

I can’t wait until I have a physical copy of this demonically epic book!

Now for me to be brave and turn the page of The Younglings, Fire & Magic.

A Young Adult read with something for everyone. Whether you are into demons, angels, vampires, witches, or werewolves – or merely just teens being teens – this book ticks all the boxes.

Not aimed at my age group, I still enjoyed it and liked the relationship dynamic between the two main characters. Quinn is a complicated young man, but then I suppose when you discover your dad is a demon and the girl you’re secretly in love with is an angel, it’s bound to mess with your mind a little.

I was a bit confused in places as to where this book was supposed to be set. The author made several references to locations in the UK, yet the way the teenagers acted and spoke seemed very American. But, as I said, this wasn’t aimed at my age group and maybe that is the way British teenagers act now.

The plot cracks along at a fair old pace with plenty of action on every page and is a fun, fast-paced, and entertaining read.

"If I wanted controlling, I'd have come with a remote."

Carter Quinn 17, half demon, comes prepared with the jokes in the highly entertaining paranormal novel The Younglings: Shadows & Magic by Helena M. Craggs.

It is hard enough for Quinn to accept he is half demon but when he finds out his best friend Eve is half angel things really get complicated. As we learn along with Quinn and Eve the history and rules of his new supernatural life we meet a demon nanny (named Lilith like my sweet pup), a teen witch, a ghost and, of course, a vampire. We now have our paranormal scooby gang ready to fight the evil super beings of the underworld.

With a very easy flowing, let's not take this too seriously style, the author has created a fun world filled with teen angst, humor, adventure and some unrequited romance.

The Younglings is the first of a series about Quinn and his new life as a half demon fighting evil in his hometown; much like Buffy in Sunnydale.

If you are a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Supernatural this is perfect reading material to satisfy your paranormal obsession.

I received a free copy of this book from #lovebooktours for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Younglings was an exciting fantasy series packed full of action and awesome characters. This book had almost every supernatural being in existence. The protagonist, Quinn, is an average teenager who discovers he's half-demon and from there his whole world is shaken. Before he knows it, he's got a circle of friends that includes his best friend Eve (a half-angel), a ghost, a witch, and even a vampire. Together the group faces obstacles and must save one another from other paranormal beings. I loved the dynamic of these mismatched teenagers as they grew to care and rely on one another!

I have to say that Craggs really shines when it comes to dialogue. It felt so natural and seemed perfect for the age group of the characters.

Overall, this is a solid debut and an excellent start to what is certain to be a successful series! Give it a read!

This is a must for fans of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. This YA supernatural story has plenty going on. Quinn and Eve have been best friends for so long now their bond is strong.
As Quinn starts developing changes to himself, he meets his father ...How can he tell his friend hey Eve my dad's not dead and I am half demon....
He has to come clean but Eve has things she is hiding too.
There is lots going on and a great bunch of characters.
Mrs D well everyone needs a Mrs D in their lives. I loved her.
Lots of smaller adventures keeping it moving and interested.
Great for readers 16+

Quinn discovers his powers as puberty hits - accidentally. He can run like a superhero. His neighbor who has always care for him and his mom is a demon nanny. Who arranges meets with his dad - a demon king.
By the way, his best friend Eve is also half angel.
Together they draw quite the crew - a witch, vampire, werewolf and a simple human. Together they learn of their strength, especially Quinn.
When Eve is kidnapped for her healing blood, they must all bring their powers together.
Oh Eve special friend - a ghost of a young girl whose family had been cursed.
Humor. YA dark fantasy. Great read.

The first thing that came into my mind when I sat down to write this review was: what a cosy book! Well, yes, I know it would sound strange if you read the description of “The Younglings: Shadows and Magic” by Helena M. Craggs, since it says: demons, vampires, and also mentions something about stabbing the supernatural creatures. But that’s how I felt the whole time I was reading it. I felt like I was being enveloped in a warm, familiar blanket that smelled of home-made cookies.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the beginning of friendship between the characters. I always say that the ties people form between each other, be it love, friendship or partnership of any kind, sometimes are formed on a level not connected with the rational. And Helena M. Craggs captured the origins of such ties brilliantly.

I also liked that the sixteen-year-olds don’t talk and act like they are in their forties. The author’s casual writing style made me smile and nod, imagining how a teenager would react to finding out that the world of the supernatural isn’t actually a myth.

I’d say that “The Younglings: Shadows and Magic” was an excellent read for me to unwind from the everyday duties and worries. I’m glad I’ve made the acquaintance with Quinn Carter and his team of the exceedingly lovely supernatural – and not only! – friends. I’m looking forward to meeting them again in the next book of the series.

The hype is real!

Heard that this book was fantastic and would even make a great TV show.

Those who have said that aren’t wrong.

If this had been a TV show, maybe something that came on after Buffy, I would have stuck around for it.

My very favorite thing about this book is its episodic nature. Need a monster of the week show in book form or in your headphones? This is the one. Great characters. Real reactions. And also typical bone-headed teenagers.
Some familiar things and some great twists on things like vampires make this the ideal read for fans of Shadow Hunters, The Order, etc.

And the adaptation would be easy. The book has half the first season’s episodes all mapped out, easily separated and adapted.

5 shimmering stars! My commute was filled with magic and I miss Quinn and the spook crew already! It’s only been a day!

#BookReview - The Younglings

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
[Gifted] Thank you to @craggshm & @lovebookstours for sending me a copy of this book to review! The Younglings is about Quinn (a half-demon) and Eve (a half-angel) who navigate their lives as teenagers whilst uncovering and exploring their newfound abilities and lineages.

This is such a hilarious and well-paced YA read that introduces us beautifully into a new series. It is absolutely packed with demons, angels, ghosts, witches, and more, all wrapped up in teen angst, misfits and school life. 👏

Quinn, our MC, is a hilariously sarcastic half-demon and an absolute joy to read. We follow his journey as he learns who he is and what he can do, whilst attempting to guide an ever-growing, diverse team of supernatural pals. He is a character with feelings, humour, relatability and a fully fleshed backstory; ever keeping us on our toes as he discovers new layers of abilities throughout the plot. I defy anybody to read this book and not find yourself rooting for Quinn and his pals. ❤

Eve’s abilities as a half-angel are equally as intriguing and I hope we see more of those come to light in book 2! I also can’t wait to see what develops romantically between the couples in the group; I love to see diverse romance sprinkled through plotlines like glitter. Also, can we talk about how FAB Eloise is? Our resident ghost brough me SUCH JOY! 👻

Overall, I would recommend this book to anybody looking to start a new YA series filled with heart-warming friendships, a huge cast of supernatural folk and diverse love interests. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2 and I’d seriously LOVE to see this being made into a TV show. Serious Buffy The Vampire Slayer Vibes!!!!! 📺

Does this sound like something you’d enjoy? If yes, it’s currently on Kindle Unlimited for free! ❣️

Finally, another thank you to @lovebookstours for sending me a copy of this. @craggshm – your sister would be SO proud! ❤

I really love a good paranormal fantasy - this book incorporated some of my favorite tropes and beings; it had a great blend of paranormal, romance, and murder mystery. I also am a huge sucker for a slow-burn romance. I enjoyed learning about Quinn and all that he is capable of, however I did find myself wanting to push through this bit to get to the next part of the story and plot after some time. At times, I get overwhelmed when there are TOO many supernatural beings to keep track of in a story, however Helena tied it all together spectacularly and created such a captivating story out of it all! I look forward to reading more of Helena’s books.

I have been having trouble recently finding a young adult book that doesn't make me cringe with teenage awkwardness. I'm a middle-age woman and there is such a disconnect for me... usually... but this was not the case with the Younglings and I enjoyed this book thoroughly. Yes, the main cast are high school age, but the primary focus is the supernatural element and how that affects their "normal lives" versus just awkward social situations constantly. There is teenage awkwardness, misunderstandings, crushing, all that, but it didn't feel as oversaturated as young adult books tend to be. I enjoyed the point of view from the MC, my only complaint being that you cold kill your liver if you made a drinking game out of every time he said "half-demon" during his internal monologuing. I definitely hope there will be more to this series and it doesn't end here!

16 year old Quinn Carter is not a normal 16 year old because it just so happens that he’s half demon. Being a teenager is hard enough, but when you add into the mix being in love with your best friend Eve (who happens to be half angel) and new and evolving powers Quinn has more that school work to deal with. When Quinn’s biology teacher Mr Harvey is found dead and his fellow classmates start going missing it’s up to Quinn together with Eve to find out what’s going on. Along the way they recruit ghost Eloise, witch Millie, half vampire Leo and mortal Harry. Together they are the spook crew and the keepers protecting innocents in the mortal world.

I loved this book and can’t fault it at all. The storyline was intriguing and kept my attention. As for the characters they were likeable and the author has done a brilliant job in creating characters that are relatable even though they have a supernatural twist to their character. They reminded me of a supernatural version of the characters from Scooby-Doo. One of the things that stood out for me was that the main protagonist is a male so it was really interesting to read the story from Quinn’s perspective. As someone who loved the Twilight series when it was first published I found it difficult to find another book from that genre and had this book been around then it would have been the perfect read for me. There were some funny moments and I couldn’t help but smile. My top scenes were when a 7 year old Eve saved Quinn from a school bully and when Quinn fainted after seeing Mrs D’s true form. The story had the perfect balance of teenage angst and spookiness.

A coming of age YA supernatural book!

I pre-ordered this book, as it appealed to all of my literary loves: demons, angels, witches, ghosts and more, all wrapped up in teen angst and unwitting heroes. Quinn is an adorable goof-ball, who is catapulted into a world he has no desire to be in, yet which he grabs by the horns (pun intended) as he does his best to guide his ever-increasing and ever-diverse team of supernatural companions. In some scenes, you want to give him a good shake when he can't see what is right in front of his face, but in others, you find yourself rooting for him and urging him on as he fights to get rid of the baddies and his own self-doubting demons. Eve is his ever-constant and ever-grounding best friend, and I challenge you not to fall in love with Eloise! I thoroughly enjoyed the historic nod back to the witch trials of the English north, which shows how well researched the author made sure she was before she even put pen to paper.

And then I read her author bio.

Helena M Craggs ... I have no hesitation in saying how proud your sister must be of you right now as she looks down. You have fulfilled a promise to her in reaching for your own dream, and I can only say how much I am looking forward to parts 2 and 3 of this series.

Bravo to a fabulous debut!

Received this book in exchange for an open and honest review as part of lovebookstours book tour.

Due to a fractured shoulder that required surgery and a lot of hospital appointments I have not been reading as much lately but I really enjoyed this book. I connected straight away with Quinn, the writing style was really engaging and felt like the words were in my head rather than just reading on a page.

All the characters are really well written and I love the little quirks of each of them. Some bits were a little predictable but didn't distract from the great storytelling. Really enjoyable and will definitely be checking out the next instalment.

What if you found out your father wasn't really human?
And that you're a half demon?
What if your dreams were filled with nightmares of the demon world?
Would it break you or make you stronger?
Quinn hates his new identity .
He hates his anger, but cherishes his new found speed and strength.
His best friend, Eve thinks he has the heart of a lion and the soul of an angel .
Quinn is in love with her but can a demon love an angel?

The Younglings starts of with a bang. We are immediately drawn into Quinn's world. He is a normal boy until he learns the truth about himself.
Author, Craggs doesn't brush over his feelings and angst. She handles them with great understanding and a thoughtfulness, usually not attributed to a male, teenage character.
Yes, boys have feelings too. I loved that best.
The pacing is excellent, with enough characters who are central to the story in their own way. They do not take away from Quinn but add to the brush strokes that go into building his character. Each new character brings out a new attribute of Quinn - love, protectiveness, jealousy, bonding and many more emotions.
Quinn ends up collaborating with these extraordinary supernatural teens to form a group known as the Keepers.
The Keepers, as they handle one supernatural crisis after the other, become central to the rest of the series, they are the Younglings.
'The Younglings' is such a perfect title because to me it denotes youth, vulnerability and strength at the same time.
A fantasy that draws you in and thrills you at the same time.

One day Quinn is typical teenager and the next he finds out he has supernatural powers. Luckily, he has Mrs. D to help guide him along the way. While, Quinn tries to navigate his way through this new world, he is joined by his friend and love interest Eve.

It felt like the first third of this book was spent on Quinn and him learning about his heritage and how to use his abilities. Which. I liked but felt like it did go on a bit too long. The middle of the book is where the story picked up and felt like it was moving along.

To be honest, I could have done without the romance. I think the story still would have been just as good without it. I did like all of the characters. They were unique in their own way but did act their ages as teenagers.

This is a good ya book that the ya readers will like. If you do like to read fantasy books then you might check out this one. I do look forward to seeing how this story plays out with Quinn, Eve, and the rest of the gang as they battle the Ministry of Vampires.

An amazing page-turner

I really loved ‘The Younglings’ because of its unique style, vivid settings, and interesting characters. It grabbed my attention from the first pages, and I really enjoyed reading it.
Quinn is a 16 year-old guy who discovers that he has demonic power, and since then his life changes. The story develops gradually as Quinn meets new friends who have different supernatural abilities. Together, they overcome various quests and help each other sort out their ‘teenage problems’ on the way.
This is a story about friendship, family, and of course, love. It contains several very touching romantic scenes that made my heart flitter as I read the pages. I really recommend it to YA readers.

This is one of those stories where you hate to see the ending coming. I savored every sentence in this book. Our author either has teens at home or has transported herself to the teenage supernatural world as she hit the mark on every point of the teenage personality and imaginary realm every time. The one-line zingers had me in hysterics throughout, and the storyline kept me in suspense about who would appear next as a supernatural. Superb writing in my mind and this book is not just for the YA reader. If one wants to escape the stresses of the times, this is a humorous, easy-to-read book that will fill the bill. Can we give a 10 star review, it is that good.
