[Arthur Barker] (1981). HB/DJ. 1/1. 137 Pages. Illustrated. Purchased from World of Books Limited.

A feast of insightful nostalgia.

The ‘usual suspects’ feature prominently.

It was also delightful to read about the likes of Ray Edmonds, Patsy Fagan, Perrie Mans, Bill Werbeniuk and the quite phenomenal Cliff Wilson.

R.I.P. John Virgo - this account reminds us what a great player he was.

Davis comes across as a fascinating, candid, scrupulously fair gentleman with amazing skills and redoubtable composure.

He was not, is not and never will be a ‘bore’.

That adjective well-befits Peter Ebdon. His 5:20+ 12 point break rivals Ronnie O’Sullivan’s 5:20 (5:08?) 147 maximum. The former’s a monstrous spectacle - of sole appeal to a strange, niche audience - whilst the latter’s sublime.

Unindexed.
