The Broken Cask

Rate this book
The Broken Cask is a solitaire innkeeping roleplaying game. Well what, in the name of the Leaky Cauldron, does all that mean?
It means your dining room table covered in papers and charts; it’s slinging dice to find out what happens next; it’s hoping that slowcoach cook of yours can get the next meal out in time for a hefty tip and wondering who will come through the door next.

You play it with paper and pencil and at least one six-sided die.

It may inspire you to imaginative feats and storytelling of your own, or it may just be a good time when you feel like relaxing and playing alone.

You will create your inn and innkeeper persona, hire staff, earn gold, expand your inn, trade at the market, send heroes off on adventures, and oh so much more.

The book is a bit confusing at times, a lot A LOT of back and forth looking for tables or details that were explained before but now that you need them, where were they? But because of all the fun I’m having creating my own Legends & Lattes, it gets 5 stars ⭐️

This is perfect for a slow Sunday morning or a late afternoon in the winter. I enjoyed it a lot, but would have loved a couple more story related roll tables included (maybe after the events) just to make it more immersive.
Overall, I defenitely recommend this to anyone who loves dnd or adventure books

Good premise, but instructions need a bit more clarity for those new to the format. It would also be helpful to include the score sheet as a page in the back of the book.

Files downloaded 👍🏻, files printed 👍🏻 (some are repeats & doesn't print nice), and book read 👍🏻 (aka all the game rules with a long text format of most dice rolling tables in the back). Got a few setup steps done so I can start playing the game to see what storyline unfolds. I did enjoy the way the rule book was written...now hope enough is in my head to play the game. 🤞🏻
