These short stories of slashers and victims made me smile like crazy. I loved the variety they have ranging from elaborate games to blood powered crop rituals. This is the highlight of my October readings and I'm glad to end the Halloween season with some sharp knives and bleeding wounds.

Horror lovers will delight in this amazing collection of serial killer and slasher stories!

From cleavers to steak knives to sickles to hand saws, the weapons of choice will tickle true horror lovers.

A story inspired by Jack The Ripper about a meat man with a following of cats starts this collection off right for the true serial killer fanatic.

Tales of revenge take the reader down the paths of a man with a bandaged head hiding wounds, both physical and emotional, with a burnt past, a young woman who seeks to torch out her painful past, and a thresher of humans gone bad.

The reader is taken on a journey through the eyes of a steak knife that infuses those who touch it with dark desires.

A group of teenagers are tempted by a big cash win, embarking on a series of Halloween games that turn deadly.

A man brands his arm with animals symbolizing his prey.

A masked killer terrorizes an amusement park, with a smile.

An army of scarecrows, morphed from corpses, have a special mission amongst the cornfields.

A family run pumpkin patch flourishes off human fertilizer.

A quaint winter cabin retreat turns into a chilling chase.

This scary collection of Halloween and harvest themed stories is sure to delight the horror reader.

Saw this for cheap on kindle and thought I’d give it a shot. Wasn’t disappointed. Finished in a couple of sittings. Never done any Bloodritesbooks before but will definitely pick up more based on this.

12 short slasher/serial killer stories. Enjoyed them all. Favourites were Back to st Marys and Animals in ink but The cats meat man was the standout for me. Very vivid and creepy with a killer ending!

This is the fifth anthology from Blood Rites, and it is by far the bloodiest. A collection of serial killer and slasher stories, razor-sharp blades slice and hot blood sprays on nearly every page.

I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favorite out of these stories, as all of them were inventive in the way their characters met their end, descriptive with the gore and violence, and relentless with action and suspense. This book grabs you like a stranger in the night, a stranger with a menacing blade, daring you to turn the page.

Another solid collection by some solidly talented indie authors. Go get your copy now!

For indie horror fans, it’s really cool to have a collection that brings together different styles and storylines within a theme. Slasher/horror is broad and I really enjoyed seeing how these authors interpreted the theme!

I enjoyed this collection, and couldn’t recommend a book more for a good October read. This book oozes Halloween glory. The best thing I can say about this collection is that Nick Harper did an excellent job selecting the stories so that none of them feel repetitive or recycle tropes from previous stories, despite them all being written around the same theme. As with most anthologies, not every story will resonate with every reader, and there are a handful that I didn’t particularly care for. But most at least kept me entertained, and that’s what it’s all about, right? Particular stand outs for me here were:
“The Cat’s Meat Man” by Jack Harding
“Life of A Knife” by Jeremy Megargee
“Animals in Ink” by Nicole Lynn
And “Someone Forgot to Smile” by Spencer Hamilton

I absolutely enjoyed the variety of style in this anthology. Each of these authors have a grasp on what makes a great slasher. They do a wonderful job in keeping the stories short but potent. Nick Harper's editing also keeps the stories easy to follow and entertaining. Amazing job by Blood Rites Horror! Looking forward to reading more of their anthologies!

I love slashers, so this collection was perfect for me. Especially so since it was such an even anthology. There was not a single clunker in the bunch, but I did have a few favorites:

"You'll See Me When the Leaves Fall" by Carla Eliot concerns the urban legend of the "bandaged-head man" and the terror he inflicts on a small English town.

"Back to St. Mary's" by Aiden Merchant was a delight, featuring the same psychotic antiheroine as his short work "Crimson Road: Faces" from his superb collection, Kill for Them. I hope he has many more stories of Violet to come.

"Thresher Creeping, Blood Moon Weeping" by Alana K. Drex slowly reveals its twists and turns in a story of two generations of murderous women.

Nicole Lynn brings us the brief, but incredibly well written, "Animals in Ink," about a psychic waitress and the serial killer who shows up at her bar.

All of Spencer Hamilton's Smileyland stories are real treats. His "Someone Forgot to Smile" is no exception. For more stories of Smileyland, check out Harper's previous collection, Welcome to the Funhouse, or Hamilton's e-book, "Welcome to Smileyland."

D.A. Butcher's "The Eyes Have It" and E. Reyes's "Desert Road" both concern friends being picked off in isolated, rural locations.

These were my favorites, but really, every story in this collection was outstanding. I highly recommend this one to all horror fans, but slasher fans in particular. I can't wait to see what else these authors can do.

This one was entertaining.

I’ve set a goal to incorporate more short-stories into my reading material and this one didn’t disappoint! I mainly wanted to read this one because I’m interested in reading the works of the new author Jack Harding (@rocket.man.reads) and the opening story in this collection is penned by him. It was enjoyable and there wasn’t one story in this collection that I didn’t enjoy. Lots of gore and slasher romp mayhem in these tales—faint-hearted beware.

Happy reading, everybody!

A massive collection of short stories surrounding fall, Halloween night, and harvest season. Not much better of a theme that I could think of. These stories are all wonderfully written, it's exciting to see Nick throw together all of these submissions into one book and let them all speak for themselves. Each story is written by a different author, which gives every reader the ability to enjoy at least ONE story (or all, like me) since each author has a different writing style, version of "horror" and story to tell. I enjoyed reading these stories over the month as they were quick reads and interesting. Overall, I'm excited to see what Nick Harper has to come!

Fun collection of slashers. Perfect for fans of those movies where a bunch of dumb teens get chopped up. As always with a collection, there were a few misses for me but none were terrible. I've really enjoyed the two anthologies I've read from Blood Rites Horror now.

A solid collection of well written stories.
This is the fourth Blood Rites anthology I've read (missed Welcome to the Funhouse, but will get to it), and definitely my favourite. Loved the seasonal theme in this one.
My favourite individual stories have to be "Win Big or Get Dead" and "Hallowed Killer".

If only I had known the direction these gruesome tales would take I would have saved this book for Halloween!
This is the fifth anthology for Blood Rites Publishing for those who are keeping track and it is the first one for me to read so I think I'm a little behind my A game.
So from razors to bombs, steak knives to saws, this anthology covers just about every ferociously gory weapon imaginable.

Jack Harding tells a story about a London meat man with his own following of cats, this story is actually one of my favourites.

Carla Elliot tells a Halloween myth of the bandage-headed man that may not be myth after all.

Nikki R. Leigh tells of how a group of teenagers decide to join a night's worth of Halloween games with cash up for grabs.

Nicole Lynn tells of a hunter that is craving a new trophy to add to his collection and tattoo to add to his arm.

Spencer Hamilton takes us to Smileyland! Where The only rule is to never stop smiling!

Julie Hiner has a Halloween story of a man who loves handing out candy and pumpkin carving.

D.A. Butcher's story The Eyes Have It, is dedicated to Spencer Hamilton, Carla Eliot, Mona Kabbani, Elizabeth Suggs, and Nick Harper. These are also the names of his characters.

E. Reyes tells a tale of a Halloween cornfield party that sends people running to save their lives.

🎃Spoiler Free Book Review🎃

I love picking up a @bloodriteshorror anthology because I know I’m going to get a solid bunch of short stories, sure to entertain. Pulp Harvest is the goriest collection yet, perfect for spooky season👻

As always, the editing was excellent and the authors were a talented mix of familiar and new-to-me names (listed below). Look them all up, they deserve the attention👏👏👏

The stories ran from dark and disturbing to cheesy and even a bit humorous. If that seems odd for a horror collection, I recommend you watch some Nightmare on Elm Street movies to see exactly how a story can make you laugh, roll your eyes, and still haunt your dreams😅

As with any collection, some stories stood out to me personally and I’ve listed them below, by order of appearance.

The Cat’s Meat Man by Jack Harding
Animals in Ink by Nicole Lynn
Someone Forgot to Smile by Spencer Hamilton
Hallowed Killer by Julie Hiner
The Eyes Have It by D.A. Butcher (I know Spencer loved that twist lol)

One other note of appreciation for @bloodriteshorror and @jay.writeshorror (formerly known as Nick Harper) - I absolutely adore the LGBTQIA+ inclusion in your stories and authors🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
