What happens when supernaturals start going missing? Who is there to save them? The Gods have disappeared, thought to have left the worlds to fend for themselves. Or have they?
A goddess who fought a war long forgotten where she lost everything she held dear, is held for centuries against her will. For her knowledge and secrets. Only to escape and find her name is but that of legends. Forgotten by the masses. Rae stays hidden away from the world, blending into the ordinary lives around her. Avoiding those that would use her.
Until supernaturals begin going missing at an alarming rate, one being a close friend. When it seems old enemies may be the cause, it’s up to Rae to save them all and prevent another war. With the Gods coming out of hiding and captivity, can Rae depend on new friends to have her back or does the fate of the supernatural world rest on her shoulders alone?
What a damn book, I couldn't put it down it's 2am I started around 11pm.. this book was addictive, I going to start the next book tomorrow sleep be damned. Highly recommend this book, this author rocks hell yes.......
This book had an interesting storyline in that it mixed old Gods with supernatural working alongside one another.
Rae is one of the only old gods still around and most people have forgotten that they were real. She keeps herself hidden and off the radar so she doesn't attract any unwanted attention. Unfortunately, that plan goes up in flames when one of her good friends goes missing without a trace and she is tasked to find her. Of course, the missing person is the tip of a world-altering iceberg that only Rae knows how to dodge.
I really liked the characters in this book and how they interacted with one another. I loved the blips of history that we get fed to us, which helps explain how Rae got to be where she is now. Also, the fact that they can communicate in each other's minds is really cool and it is very easy to identify. There is a lot of detail and description in this book so you do get a full picture of the present situation. As I said earlier the information about the past is drip-fed in at the perfect times.
This is a slow-burn romance and not very much happens in this book but we have been promised a rain check for that. (It makes complete sense I would like to add, as the world is going to poo around the main characters). The characters- most of them- are truly endearing and you really do pick a team and root for them. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
Oh my word i literally loved this book from the very first chapter. How could i not with a FMC like Rae? She just made this book for me. Shes chock full of wit, sass and sarcasm. I found myself cracking up with her one liners throughout this book. This book was right up my street because books that feature Gods and Goddesses are a fav of mine. Theres so many different stories all circulating around the main story and if you add to that the backstory it definitely keeps you on your toes. Add to that a sexy troll prince - Zac and Miles her brother in law who had me laughing out loud. Can we have more of him?? Im dying to get my hands on the next book because this one was a cracking start to this series. Loved It!!!
This is one hell of a read! In an incredible world created by this author, supernatural beings are going missing but who cares?? The gods and goddesses seem to be in hiding except for one and she, Rae, who has been held captive for centuries, is a total badass! It’s a totally different take on mythology, the gods and the supernatural and it drew me in from the start. It’s fast paced and well written, is action packed and full of betrayal, has good guys and bad and I cannot wait to read more!
Interesting concept. This book has an interesting take on old gods and supernaturals. The author uses multiple point of view chapters to help keep track of the story. Significant use of the flashback helps to provide necessary context. Overall an enjoyable story.
Rae is a goddess but she keeps her identity as a secret. After being held captive for centuries, many people forgot about her, and she wants to keep it that way. But when it seems like the war is starting once again, Rae needs to find her twin sister to use her full power and stop the war once for all.
It was a nice read with a good storyline, however, I felt there was so much exposition where at times the dialogue and the narration got boring.
I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
Where did the time go? I'm sure I only started this book 5 minutes ago, and now there's no more pages? And you left it hanging *there*?!? I haven't come across a book quite like this one. Although there are Gods, shifters, vampires, trolls, dragons, pixies, djinns, and a stack of other supernatural creatures, the mythos and history involved are unique. I cannot wait to see what happens next with Rae and Zac, and how Lee and Elena will slot in. I also cannot wait to see both Arya and Marly beat the absolute crap out of the Troll Queen!
This book was so good! I'm so glad that I was told about it. Even if I did find out about it after book 3 came out! B.D. Brown wrote a story that flows and has all kinds of twists and turns. I'm off to read book 2 & see where Rea and her crew wind up
Missing in Time is the first book in B.D. Brown’s The God’s Time series. Meet Braeneil. A goddess “forgotten” by most because she’s gone into hiding. She was locked away for centures, held against her will. She was finally able to escape her captor, but learned she has long since been forgotten. Now, supernaturals are going missing. It’s happening often, but one just so happens to be a dear friend. So the hunt is on to find who took her, and to stop others from being taken. Missing in Time is the first book that I have read by B.D. Brown. The beginning of this book was a bit slow for me. There really wasn’t much of a foundation for me to begin building off of. But as the story progresses, things get interesting. While there isn’t something base the story from the beginning, the author inserts flashbacks and pieces of background to begin fleshing the story out. Braeneil as the main female character brings a nice balance of sass and knowing when to hold on to that “one snip too many.” I probably burned my nose more than a handful of times snorting from one of her quips. Lol! The author does a good job engaging me in Braeneil’s story and really directing me to who to “dislike” and who to be more intrigued in. The variety of characters, and the alternating in the chapters focus as well really help pull me into this story. You get a nice mix of characters, mystery, drama, slow-building romance, and so much more. My only complaint would have been the beginning. I think that a prologue would have helped set the stage to give me something to grow from, but the story as it gets going is really good. I’m rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. The characters are engaging and I can’t wait to see where things lead.
A well-written fantasy that hints at a greater mystery to be solved
Rae, a supernatural PI/bounty hunter, has spent a long time trying to move on from her past with the help of Zac, her best friend and prince of the trolls, and Miles, her brother and djinn prince. As the story progresses a task is asked, feelings drift, and the trouble she rund into is not all that she finds along the way. B.D. Brown’s Missing in Time is a well-written fantasy that hints at a greater mystery to be solved. Rae’s journey through the book is filled with her collecting misfit friends like they are going out of style. The level of sass is spread throughout many characters and lends a pinch of humor to an otherwise dark subject. I hope that the author continues the series with the same mixture found in this book.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Sassy and always-in-some-trouble Rae is keeping many secrets, but maybe now has come the time some of the secrets become unraveled. When Marly, the sister of her best friend Zac (and a troll) gets missing under suspicion circumstances and the troll queen does not seem to be too motivated to search for her, Rae cannot get any more convinced it is her time to act. Investigating the disappearance leads to uncovering a much larger problem, though.. This book is an interesting and adventurous opening to a new series. Gods, mythology, fantasy, supernatural creatures, extra abilities, and mystery are all combined in this story, with a self-confident godly heroine front and center wreaking havoc wherever she goes, not bothered by the attitude of others. The romantic relationship is full of funny moments, some heat, and unexpected twists, and considering the ending and some open points, I am very curious how this mystery will be resolved.
I totally loved this book! As it starts we see Rae as a supernatural bounty hunter although as we get deeper into the story we find out more about exactly who and what she is. As a character I loved Rae, totally baddass and not afraid to set the world on fire ... literally! One of my favourite lines from Rae was "The only way you will get laid, Dominic, is if you were to crawl up a chicken's ass and wait." Also love Zac and I really hope he will be ok considering the situation he was left in or I just might cry! The author did a wonderful job with the plot, the characters and the world building and I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next book, I will definitely continue reading this series
Rea is a kicka$$ chick who has survived A LOT, I mean she has been around since the beginning of time so I would expect so. Rea has a lot on her plate, she is in hiding, a PI, searching for her long lost sister, avoiding relationships (that she really wants), and pissing off trolls. That's a lot for one woman, but she can handle it; right? With her bother and partner by her side she can accomplish anything, but can she handle when the past collides with the present? Can she merge her two lives and still find the happiness that she has been missing all of these years? That my fellow reader is the cliffhanger we are left with. Reading book 1 is so worth this cliffhanger and I can't wait to find out more.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
What an intriguing book this is. We get a fabulous mix of the supernatural world along with the Gods or at least one known as Rae. Rae has been held captive for a really really long time. So long that most of the world has forgotten about the Gods all together so when she finally gets free it opens things up for what should she do now. This would have more options if supernaturals were not going missing all over the place with no one having a clue about what is happening. This makes for a fascinating mystery adventure as it all plays out filled with lots of sass from Rae. This makes for a great read as it all plays out. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Great new author! Rae has been missing in action for a long time. So has her sister Rex. Rae finally found a way to trust a couple people again...his name is Zackiel and he just so happens to be the troll prince. Now Zac's niece has gone missing and it is up to Rae, who is pretty much a private detective, to help track her down. She has been trying to stay in the shadows but it seems that is getting tougher and tougher to do. She has also taken to rescuing misfit supernaturals. She has so little time and so much to do...and where does Zac fit into this 🤔....hopefully time will help determine that and where her sister is too. Can't wait to read the next book!
This book sounded interesting, so I jumped at the chance to read it. I dived in, and I was captivated almost immediately. Rae is an interesting character, a goddess, and I really liked Zak, prince of the trolls, too. Add in all the other characters, Miles, Marly, etc., and there is a great cast of characters. It was well-written and has an interesting plot. It wasn’t perfect (Rae was so poor she had to eat ramen but had an account for a bigger house, nothing really major), but this book shows great promise for the future of the series. I’m ready to find out what happens next in this universe. Recommend.
Wow this book grabbed me and took me on a wild ride and I loved every second! I thoroughly enjoyed this story! This was well written with a unique and creative plot that had me hooked. It was such an interesting concept and I am totally here for it! The characters are well fleshed out and I love how diverse and complex they are. I felt the story moved at a comfortable pace and was easy to read, the multiple POV added a depth to the story that really fit well. Our FML is really fun and entertaining while also being low key epic. I loved that not so secret secret! I am eager to read the next installment!
I'm always open to giving a new author a shot, especially if the blurb of the book sounds appealing. This one did. I am so happy to report this book lived up to the blurb. It is well-written, plotted well, the characters are fleshed out and believable and the story drew me in from the beginning. It has a story I haven't seen before, which is truly difficult with the amount of books I read. Rae is a goddess character that has many hidden powers and talents that make her very intriguing to read. I'm very excited to see where the rest of the series goes and how the author continues to develop her talent.
This is a very interesting premise for a story, the Gods have disappeared and supernaturals have started to go missing. But one goddess is still around, though in hiding, and someone she loves is missing too. Could it all be linked? And will she finally come out of hiding to protect those she cares about?
So first of all Rae is a total bada$$ and I loved her from the start, there is definitely a lot of information to take in throughout the story but it really does help to set the scene and build the world we find ourselves in. It's action-packed from the start and a rollercoaster ride from page one.
This is a fantastic new book from a new author. It combines old Gods, with some of the lesser used supernaturals - who knew trolls could be so sexy! - and an original storyline. Rae is an old, forgotten Goddess in hiding, but her past is about to come back and haunt her, forcing her to resurface. It's a slow burn story, so she's only really connected with one of her ultimate partners by the end of the book, although she has met at least one other. For a new author, this is a solidly written story, and I'm looking forward to seeing where we're going with this one!
A Goddess that has survived the times. She lived hidden and reluctantly come out of hiding when those she cares about go missing once again. A past she thought she had escaped returned.
A lost love, a steamy hunk, and a delectable delicate dragon.
The plot is a new take on the tales of the gods, a fresh perspective with a delicious harem, and a cliffhanger that leaves us wanting more immediately.
The spice is 🔥🔥🔥/🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, as this is a slow burn. I can not wait to see what book two brings.
Rae is in hiding. Not because she’s scared, but because she needs to blend in. People don’t need to know what she’s capable of or who she really is. Then she finds out a friend has been taken. Whispers in the wind hint of things, of. People, of the past best left alone coming back. Now Rae is in a race. Not just to find a friend but to reunite with her other half and prepare for war.
This is an interesting start by a new author. This series is definitely one to be picked up.
Rae is awesome and Zac well I just love him. From the get go Zac shows how much he cares for Rae whilst she holds many secrets. Their path I have no doubt is going to be long and arduous. Miles has some very unique qualities which cause him to be a great character and as the characters get introduced into the story it gets better and better. Harder too simply because you don’t want the good to be hurt and all the evil taken out straight away. The question is will that happen.
Oh my goodness. This was a great book. It kept me on the edge. I couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen next. The steamy tension in this book is out of this world. I hope there is some relief in the next book.
This book follow Rae, a supernatural PI for lack of better words. She is ancient and hiding many secrets from her friends. She is not just a supernatural. Rae finds herself in the midst of a war starting again. One she thought was over. Rae needs to find the troll princess, her sister and other missing beings. Will she find enough help to stop the big bad?
This is an entirely different look at Gods and Supes! I love when authors create a world that is totally their own, even though it is a genre that I Love! This is a good RH that I would recommend for those looking for a good RH story. This, for me, is very original. I Loved It!! I received an ARC from the author and I am Leaving this TOTALLY HONEST Review because I choose to and I think that it is a good story!!!
Missing in Time was a great start to a new fantastic series by new author B.D. Brown! Rae is a goddess who has been captive for many years. When other gods and goddesses begin disappearing, she is forced to act and she will not give up without a fight! What follows is action, adventure, and some fantastic mythology! I fell in love with the characters and the story. I cannot wait to find out what is next for this world!
A hidden goddess and the world in dire straits? This premise had me hooked from the blurb alone. But reading the book had me drawn into the story like I never thought I would. Rae is such an interesting character and I loved the development of her and also the glimpses of her history throughout. The story has lots of promise and I can't wait to see what happens next. This is a unique book and story that I enjoyed way more than I anticipated. It's full of surprises and the writing was magical!
Only 5 chapters in and I've given up on it. There is a lot of info dumping, the main char goes off on random tangents and there is weird long dialogue. I had high hopes for this book because so many people have given it 5 stars. But I felt like this MC was trying to hard to be bad ass or perhaps that the author was trying really hard to make her so but for me, it fell flat.
I really loved reading this and found out that once I started I could not put it down until I finished the last page. It moves along at a pace which works really well with the flow of the story. The characters are amazing and you feel as though you know them and no matter what you cant help but love them. This book needs to be on your TBR list, there is no doubt about it.
I really enjoyed this unique take on gods and goddesses, it was very different from the other takes on mythology that I have read before. I really liked Rae as an FMC, she is strong and bada** while still having an emotional and vulnerable side. If you are looking for a new take on supernaturals I would highly suggest picking up this book!
