Dark and stormy nights can be murder. The last thing alpaca farmer, avid crocheter, and amateur sleuth, Josephina Thompson, expects to see in the middle of a summer storm is a stranger at her front door, muttering about a car accident that he witnessed and demanding her help.
Jo braves the rain and thunder and hurries to the scene of the accident, only to discover a dead woman and a mysterious figure watching them through the downpour.
After the weather clears, the truth about the crash remains murky, and Jo has her suspicions that the accident may not have been an accident after all.
When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
Another will written murder mystery family and friends relationships adventure thriller short story by Patti Benning (Homespun Crochet Cozy Mystery book four). Jo is woke up ☝ by Nick after a car 🚗 accident near her house. The accident is Nick's truck 🚚 and a car 🚗. The woman 🚺 in the car 🚗 is dead. What happened?Jo takes her cat 🐱 to the vet and when she goes to pick it up ☝ the truth is uncovered. I would recommend this novella series and author to 👍 readers looking for a quick mystery read and readers of mysteries novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read books 📚. 2023 👒😉😢
I read these quick reads as a break from the 6-8 hour books. Patti Benning is one of my favorite authors. Happy reading in 2023
Perfect for a read when you don't want to think too much. Sometimes I want to READ so I choose a long, complex story, but sometimes I simply want a few moments to escape & these books are perfect for that! The one thing that would increase my appreciation of them would be if a simple crochet stitch or pattern were found at the end. Hint hint! Imagine an afghan, made from squares, each made from a different stitch or simple pattern! A sampler! Of course that would require a bunch more of these books!
Another mystery that kept me guessing while Jo went investigating. I set my sights on whodunit kind of early, but it was sure easy for the author's red herrings to sway me, lol. That was some crazy showdown too! I'm afraid if I say too much, I'll spoil something, so just suffice it to say that I wasn't too surprised by the killer, but I was easily fooled a couple of times! I hope Jo and Nick get around to going on another date 'cause I can tell they really care about each other and it's pretty cute! I'm always ready to borrow the next in series on KU.
Beware of strangers knocking at your door during a storm.
Josephina answers her door one stormy night as a stranger asks for help after witnessing a car accident. She follows the stranger as they discovered a dead woman and a stranger watching them in the rain.
It will up to her to figure out if the accident was really an accident. A delightful quick read.
Jo is pulled outside when Pearl starts barking and sees someone coming up her driveway in the storm. It turns out to be Nick who has crashed his truck and seen another car off the road. The mystery swirls around the girl’s death in the car crash. Lots of twists and turns with a surprise ending. A fun read.
This one was really light on content. There was too much focus on the minutia of her daily life and not enough on moving the plot forward. I'm not really sure where the series is headed. It just seams to meander with no real purpose. Still, it's light reading for times when I don't want to have to concentrate too hard. It's easy to finish a book in one sitting.
Love this series. It has believable characters. The story line is well thought out. I love the crochet and animals. Moxie was a good addition. Another good addition might be a crochet pattern from someone in the crochet group? Or not. Just a thought. Looking forward to the next in the series.
I am enjoying this series with its quick reads, and since I’m a new crocheter, enjoying the yarn and crochet references. I have pretty much figured out whodunnit with all the books in the series so far, but it is the storytelling, and just a quick, fun, light read that I am enjoying. It helps to read these between my genre of choice which is psychological thrillers.
These four books were awesome. My only complaint was that they were too short. You just get into the story and it's the end. The author needs to write more in this series. 😊
This series just keeps getting better and better. I wish I could do what she does with yarn. This book includes a lot of twists and turns with an unexpected ending. Can't wait to get into the next book in this series.
Patti Benning books are always great. Love all the books she writes and this one is no different. Characters are fun and setting is different. The story keeps you guessing til the end.
The book's are getting better. I hate it when I come to the end of a good Deirdre some time it's hard to find another one. Thanks for the light reading.💘
This is another quick, fun read in this cute cozy series. I'm really enjoying the character development and the storylines. I'm also enjoying that while romance is sure to come that it hasn't yet. There's just no extra fluff.
Loved the whole series. Quick reads but not lacking in detail. An alpaca owner finds herself gradually acquiring rescue animals that expand her farm. Mysteries are a bonus.
