If my husband does not value me, then I need to do it myself...
Marriage is supposed to be forever, but an STI scare rips the floor from under me. I’m forced to face reality—my husband is a cheater. And worse, he might never change. In a last-ditch effort to save my marriage, I seek help from Doc. But the mechanic’s advice is the last thing I expect, and it just might cost me everything. Will my husband finally see the value in me? And if he doesn’t, will I have the courage to see the value in myself?
VALUE ME PART I is a gritty, BWWM recovery after cheating romance that dives deep into the gutter of betrayal, broken trust and life after affairs. This book is NOT for everyone.
From an early age, Nia knew she wanted to be a writer and actively began chasing that dream when she was a teenager.
Nia writes interracial romance and contemporary romance with guaranteed happy endings. She loves strong heroines and swoon-worthy heroes, and just enough spice and drama to keep things interesting!

After a great disappointment with another boo from this author I decided to try again, and I must admit I had better luck. This one is about the friend of the hero from respect me, where the heroine took back the cheater. He’s a cheater too. The heroine, is wife, decides it’s over when she finds out she could have caught a std, and her husband basically tells her to suck it up. He’s also nasty, unpleasant, selfish and body shames her. There’s the usual psychologist turned out mechanic, who gives couples such advice that yoda shush. So, she goes to the gym where she meets a veeerrry hot, charming and nice pt, that is a billionaire in disguise and is crazy for her. She decides to divorce his awful husband and she asks for half his assets. The heroine finds herself again, it’s hard of course and I liked that the author didn’t make it look like it’s something easy and soon done. It takes time and it has relapses. After her divorce her ex spirals and loses also his job, and stays an entitled pig. She dates the amazing man. There are also other two installments, this one ends when the ex has a car accident. So, the book is quite good, the heroine is a battered woman who married the hero because she was a single mum and he was charming, he had it easy and never cared for her. I liked that the author won’t put the blame on the heroine because she became bitter, hard and she let herself go, and blames it all on the husband who turned her into that kind of woman with his awful behavior. She eventually finds the strength to move on. The mechanic is quite bizarre, this man who also does counseling while repairing cars and comparing relationship to motors. I didn’t always agree with him. His pov are quite sexist, even if not in a bad way, but I don’t think like this author does that all men are potential cheating and they must be restrained and that a man wouldn’t want to get married if a woman doesn’t put an effort. There’s always this undercurrent that implies all men would like to enjoy single life while having a woman home, and it’s quite untrue. It’s demeaning for all the men who want to get married, have children, share their life with someone they love and consider their soulmate, and don’t want to waste themselves with women that only use them for a fleeting pleasure. Men are not shallow. This pov is wrong and untrue. Maybe in the past the culture was different and there were different expectations from both sexes, but now it’s not the case anymore. There are cheaters and they are both male and female, and there are faithful people, of both sexes. I don’t love generalizations. When the husband best friend, the one who now is not a cheater but who cheated a lot with him in the past, tells him that he can’t have it all, meaning he as to give up the other women if he wants to have a family, well, it was sad and demeaning to all those men who wouldn’t consider meaningless sex as the best thing they can have, but only as a poor surrogate of a more intimate and deep connection, and a more rewarding sex. Men can love as much as women and be faithful in mind and body. Making them look like domesticated beasts is quite, well, debasing. But the book is good, the heroine didn’t take back the husband.
I would read this over and over though to see Lissette free herself and find herself. To see Johnny say nothing else was more important than being there, to see him see her. She is going to investigate in the future and I can't wait to see where the journey takes her. Not even going to mention the other one by name, but I do hope he grows up in the next book, but please dear Lord, let her choose the person who sees her and prioritizes her, and let that person first be herself
Gave it 2 stars due to the ending. Maybe I’m heartless but I would have nothing to do with a man that I was devoted to for years constantly cheat and was not not a good person. With that being said if someone called to tell me “your ex husband has been in a accident” has nothing to do with me. Liz started a somewhat relationship with a better guy, there is no way on God’s green earth I would go backwards. I will not read the rest of the series. This is my opinion on this.
It's a really good read, l loved it when Liz realized her husband was never going to love and respect her and that she was miserable in her marriage and needed to leave. It took great courage, loved Doc.
Is a Vow a Sacred Trust or Breakable When You Feel like it
This is the story of Lizette and Patrick Wilson. Patrick is a sports agent. Patrick and his "Best friend" Jerrison opened this agency together and have had each other's back for all this time. Jerrison had a rough stint that he went through with his wife and had finally got his act together where he puts his relationship above everything else. Jerrison wants Patrick to get help because he knows Patrick is going down 👎 the wrong path in his marriage. Patrick married Lizette knowing that she had a young 🌱 son, Amir, and was older than her. Patrick has been cheating on his wife for a long time and he thinks she should just be the "Good Wife" and look the other way. So this is the story of how Patrick "Values" his wife or #Not.com. The other half of the story is does Lizette value herself enough not to be treated any kind of way. This story is good and it really is a lesson for women today whether contemplating marriage or in a "bad marriage". Excited to see what happens in Part 2 of Value Me by Nia Arthurs.
She does it again. If you've never read a Nia arthur wirks, fo yourself a favour and press thst BUY button
Nia, Nia, Nia!!!
I am actually lost for words! My emotions have been wrung dry! Lizette growth in Book 1, Patrick's vileness, selfishness and arrogance, the emotional turmoil, the angst. I am floored! I thought Respect Me was unbeatable but there you go and just take things up to another level. Plus you add in Johnny! I am in love with that man...so far. I don't know where you are going with story but I am so here for it! The cliffhanger had me banging my Kindle like one more chapter would miraculously appear! I am in awe of your character development, your vivid descriptions of scenes your understanding of the psychology of the human mind. Thank you! As for Doc, well, he has an honorary daughter here in the UK.
Nia Arthurs delivers again, This book just like “Respect Me”takes you on an emotional roller coaster. Nia Arthur’s takes you into the nitty gritty of marriages. We can all look inside and see someone we know or it maybe us. We all know the woman in the relationship that her man is cheating every chance he gets. We may not know her story or why she stays, but we have seen it even commented on it. We say that could never be me, but don’t judge until you know the story or walked in there shoes. Lizzette identity was caught up in what she believed a wife should do and be, someone from outside (DOC) had to open her eyes. Hopefully Johnny will show her what a good relationship is like. I hope Patrick gets it together, but for the first time I don’t want to see a couple come back together.
This one is the best so far. Maybe because I identify with this one more. Not in the way of cheating. I've been blessed to not deal with that betrayal. But the other pain of selfishness. Marrying someone whose number one will always be themselves. Trying to work on myself to save the marriage and coming to the realization that nothing will work unless he wants to change as well. This book was hard to read even though I agreed with a lot that was said. I have only 2 complaints. This is not a solo book. There is a part 2. The other complaint I can't share because it is a big piece in the storyline.
My feathers are a little bit ruffled because of the ending. Although I'm not one to usually get annoyed by cliffhangers I do feel that we as the reader went through so much trauma dealing with Patrick's fool ass that we earned and deserved a more of a feel good ending....however I can't take away from the amazing evolution of Liz!
There's nothing more amazing then watching a heroine realize her worth, her strength and stand in her own peace.
There were several times that I wanted to sit this book down because Patrick was just such a piece of shit but once Johnny came on the scene I was all heart eyes.
This is a book that will try your patience, which I find to be a very good thing, because why else read if not to feel things, or come away with opinions? I just want to say that Patrick was a piece of flaming dog poo, start to finish, and I'm glad Liz was not like Harriet in that she wanted to fight to save her marriage despite 10 years of habitual cheating. She worked up the courage to choose her own mental and physical stability and health, and walked away. Now with the next two books, I just hope that remains the case, and this doesn't become Dairy of a Mad Black Woman in which the wife actually goes back to her lying, cheating husband.
I have been wanting Patrick's story since first meeting him in Respect me. Nia did not disappoint with this story, but it turned into me rooting and cheering for Lizette. She deserve so much and I am praying by the end of book 2 she has it in spades.
I wont give away too much but Patrick needs more help than Doc can give him. Before he can work on his marriage he needs to work on himself. Until he works on himself, Doc cant help him, no one can.
This is a great learning tool. Read this book. It will open insight to your conscience. What you need to know in a relationship before it starts and how to let go. Enjoy. And there is a part 2, so you don’t lead with your heart or lust. Knowledge is powerful. The more you ask and learn will ensure a good a positive relationship between you and your mate. I enjoyed the characters, Liz and Patrick, they are toxic together. It just confirms, you need to value yourself first.
Patrick is so arrogant. Nothing he does is wrong, in his personal life or business. His mother could use some Doc advice herself. I'm not at all surprised with the result of his marriage, in fact, I would have been surprised with any other outcome. I was not liking Lizette at all. Her insecurities were plentiful. I can't wait for part II because I've got to know if Patrick has grown at least some. I'm putting all my cards on Johnny. 😍😍
Out of all the books I’ve read by the Arthurs’ this one seemed more realistic. Sure we all love a happy ending where the couple works it out, but Lizette leaving and focusing on her self was an awesome move. No one that loves you treats you the way Patrick treated her. I’m glad she divorced him I thought that the authors were gonna figure out a way to keep them together. Hate to see a marriage end but this one needed to end. Thanks for being realistic.
Patrick Wilson was a selfish, cold-hearted, unfeeling pr**k who was not worthy to lick the bottom of Lizette's shoes. He felt like he was doing nothing wrong with his lying, cheating, philandering ways, gave zero f**ks about his wife's feelings and was even a lost cause for Doc. Lizette, I say good riddance to bad rubbish because he is too foolish to see that you are priceless!
Oh man, oh man, oh man! Patrick is a few screws short.. What happened in his past to give him such a warped view on not jus women, but LIFE in general! I can't even feel sad/sorry for his situation. I can't wait for the next installment to see how the ending will affect the lives around him... This was 🔥!
Patrick is selfish and disrespectful. He was a Jerison’s business partner & co-conspirator. This story demonstrated how little he valued the people in his life. I hope Liz continues with her journey of healing & growth. I look forward to the blossoming relationship of Johnny & Liz. I really hope she doesn’t reconcile with Patrick.
I don’t know where to go from here….. I want to root for Patrick to get it together which usually happens after a life changing or life threatening event, but Liz may finally have a opportunity to be happy and valued. I would hate for her to go through so much again. Guess I’ll have to wait to find out. …..
So glad Ms. Nia decided to write Patrick’s story, or better yet, Lizzet’s story. This series has been the best. Happily ever after s doesn’t just happen. Marriage is work and while most people read romance as an escape, it can make you a little delusional. Hoping Liz stays with Johnny and doesn’t allow what happened with Patrick to drag her back.
I just have no words when it comes to Patrick. His actions in the previous books spoke volumes about his character. This book really dives into Lizette and Patrick's relationship and pulls no punches. The story was wel written and kept me in edge wondering how this is all going to work out.
Nia Arthurs is back with Patrick and Lizette’s story. I so wanted to meet Patrick’s wife after enduring her awful husband in “Respect Me” and he’s even worse. If Doc gets his hands on Patrick, can he change? Loved the emotional roller coaster that Nia weaves throughout her books. This story is no different!
I didn’t know what to expect with this series. I’ve read many Nia Arthur book which had HEA. I was nervous about starting a book that could possibly have a beyond broken couple trying to patch something that needed to be severed. I love what I’ve read of the series so far and am looking forward to the next part in the series.
This was tough to read because my dislike of Patrick grew with every chapter. Its been a while since I couldn't find one thing about a character to root for. Lizette finally found herself and the title fit her POV perfectly. Nia Arthurs really knows how to capture the dynamics of marriage and its struggles. Worth the read!
I am so glad that Liz stood up for herself. She was treated worse than dirt by her husband. She decided to find value in who she is. I can't wait to find out how this story ends.
Whoooo!!! Part 1 of Patrick and Lizette’s story is so so good! Doc is so freaking amazing that you wish there was a mechanic like this in every city that can help repair not just marriage but life in general!!
