Uncovered Treasures: Challenge of the Deep

Rate this book
A new element is on the horizon.

Five years ago, Brier left everyone behind, including the woman he loved, Celine. The sea has now become his home, and the waters are not as calm as they once were.

A storm blows in and wrecks his vessel on a deserted island. At least, that is what he thinks until the mage from his past shows up. Alice isn’t the sweet nun he remembers. She pushes him away, but there are dangers on this island, and he can’t leave her alone.

Alice can’t believe her sister mages have sacrificed her to do the bidding of the Elemental Fire. He wants to make Brier the Fifth Element by giving him peace and love, only to strip it away and turn him into an Elemental God.

Loving Brier is not an option. It doesn’t matter he makes her feel things she never has before. To let him in, she will give her heart over to be broken.

The temptations of love will only bring death sooner.

This story continues from the Reverse Harem Series, The Elemental Chronicles. Brier and Alice were a big part of it but their stories were not complete nor, the outcome of their futures.

*4,5 star review

For the first time ever, I'm gonna start a review at the ending. Not with a spoiler, but with a sentence from the message from the author at the end of the book: "This is my fault for always writing such complex characters". I believe it is one of the best ways to describe the strength of this book and author. If there is one thing you can never accuse this author of, it is of writing onedimensional characters. Every character, whether he/she has a major role or a smaller one, has depth and personality. It makes it very heartfelt and easy to connect with the characters.

This is the kind of book you want to read if you're looking for a book with good character- and worldbuilding. You can imagine the sand between your toes and the beautiful sea surrounding the island where most of the story takes place. This book has pirates and treasure hunting, but most of all it has soulsearching and healing.

I enjoyed reading the first part of the story of Brier and Alice, and I'm looking forward to find out how their story develops further.

Alice and Briar are the main characters but his crew are major players too. Alice is a nun mage that gave up her magic for the queen's daughters. Briar also gave something up for one of the queens daughters but lost his Element for different reason. The world is great and the interaction of all 8 make the book special. Remove even one crew member and it wouldn't work so well. There are some twists and unexpected issues to pop up as well as questions I need answers to in books two. At times you don't know who to trust with good reason. I can't wait to see how it unfolds in the books to follow

Despite his shortcomings, I was a fan (mostly) of Brier in The Elemental Chronicles. Being able to see him more matured and emotionally available was great. I loved getting to see Alice as fully developed character with a painful past, full of determination and love. The other isn’t all smooth though, so be ready to smack Brier in the head! It’s always two steps forward and one step back.
The twists and turns in Uncovered Treasures were great and leave me desperate to know what happens next for Brier and Alice.

I am eagerly awaiting the next book after this book finishes with a cliffhanger! I can’t believe that Brier took so long to decide to go after Alice. The tension was terrific. If I were Alice I would have lost my temper with him as I feel he was messing about with her feelings somewhat and blowing hot and cold. I have a feeling the Charlie will be featuring in future books as there is a story behind his actions too. I needed to see how the story progressed so could not put the book down. Roll on book 2!!!

Alice and Bryer are broken pieces perfect for each other, but have a long journey to get there. Both characters are very interesting/strong, they make you want to know more about them. Their attraction is amazing, I enjoyed their time together as they fought to accept it. This book is packed with action, twists and turns, keeping you reading. The descriptions make you feel like you are on the island with them. I highly recommend this book, especially if you enjoy characters finding love and healing.

I loved the elemental series so was eager to dive into this one and it did not let me down! Straight away I found myself drawn back into this incredible world as we join Alice and Brier. It’s a fast paced read with twists and turns and a slow burn romance, treasure hunting and pirates!! The storyline is so descriptive and vivid I could easily imagine being on the island with sand between my toes as I followed on this awesome journey and escapades. It’s a great story and I look forward to reading more.

This is a fantastically, magical, pirate romance. Mrs. Manis writes with such grace & thoughtfulness.
The world she created in the book is so detailed that you feel like you've been transported there yourself. The characters become so well developed & intertwined.
This is Brier & Allison's story but all the other characters play intricate roles as well. It's very action packed as any great pirate book should be, there are twists & turns and yes even romance.
It's truly a great book and I highly recommend buying it right now. Go.....buy now....it's only one click away.

Set in the same storyline from the four books of The Elemental Chronicles but further into the future from that series. Actually in book 3 it kind of hints at what will happen (at least int he first couple paragraphs).

This is talks about Briar and his abilities, as well as Alice and what she goes through. I loved reading this story that had them both int it. You even see the others from the Elemental Chronicles but now as a background characters which was nice to see them as well.

This was a great book and I can't wait to see what the next two books will have in store for us.

Brier and Alice’s story can stand alone, but is best read after the first series as many mentions are made of it and can be slightly confusing, thus the 4⭐️‘s . That being said we get pirates, Elemental magic, and sinister behind the scenes workings of family member against family members !! If you love magical high seas escapades and slow burn sexual escapades, this book by Gina Manis is for you !

Alice and Brier are two characters that are broken, but have the ability to put each other back together. With Brier's past and leaving his love, it didn't seem like he would do anything romantically toward Alice, and it took him so long to attempt anything! I loved them together, and I loved the story. The writing was a bit dull at times, but otherwise it was a great read!

This book ended on a cliffhanger, and now we wait for the next one!

This book follows Briar in his quest to become the fifth elemental. The story moves at a good pace with some interesting situations and characters. The book was easy to follow although I haven't read the earlier books in the other related series. I found it to be an interesting mix of adventure, romance and magic with a few twists along the way. I received a free copy of the ebook and this is my voluntary and honest review.

This book had me sucked in right from the beginning! I absolutely love Brier and Alice. They are both broken and need each other more than they know. There were times I wanted to scream at Brier though, it took him long enough to finally admit he cares. I can't wait to see what happens next. Will Brier get to Alice on time? Will there be more heartache? I can't wait to see!

Lovely to see Brier in a more mature way. Shipwrecked and now on a inhabited island or so he thinks. He finds his past, Alice, but she is different. He knows he can try and be the one for her but will she let him? I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend reading the elemental series before this one since this takes place after events in that series!

Such a fun read. This was not only my first read by Gina Manis, but my first pirate romance as well. I loved the world building and character development in this story. Manis did such an awesome job introducing us to and building up the main characters. I loved getting to know Alice as she struggles with the path she’s set up. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens!

This really gave me the feels. Two broken people. Brier and Alice who would of thought that they would mend each other.
This book is a slow burn with a great world build. The characters were very entertaining and there was plenty of action.
Also nice to see characters that were in the previous books.
A definite thumbs up from me.

This story made me think of a Celtic knot with its characters. Their intertwining was an eternal thread throughout the story that made it even more magical than just the basis of the story. The characters are wonderful and the story as well.

A sailor's knot of twists and turns! Who doesn't love a good tale of pirates and hidden depths? I loved seeing Briar and Alice's budding relationship and despite backsliding at times, I can't wait to see what's in store for them in the coming books.

This book tells the story of Alice and Brier. I found Alice to be incredibly interesting considering she was a nun in Brier's past. I love the attraction between these two! This story sucked me right in and I loved every minute of it. Definitely a book I recommend reading as soon as possible!

The first book in the Fifth Elemental series, this is Brier and Alice's story with drama, twists, turns, villains, and friendship. It does end with a continuation to the next book which I want to read. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The fourth book of this series adds more adventure and interest to the story line and tones down the erotic content of the earlier books of the series. Gina begins with an apology saying that this book has not had in depth editing, but to me this is her most fully developed book in the series yet.
