I enjoyed visiting the village of Harmony, Wisconsin again. Jackie Parker is so likable and relatable in many ways. The secondary characters in this series add so much as each mystery is not only about a murder but also about family and friendships. What a wonderful surprise for Jackie at the end of this one.
This is a very well written series. Jackie stumbles on another body while out taking pictures. They suspect the woman that died had died of a bad heart. Was it a natural death or was it murder? Jackie isn’t sure.
I love this series!!!! Jackie and Mandy start out getting feed back on some pictures they had taken at the Taliesin Preservation, which was the Wright Brothers home that got converted into a museum. As they start off reshooting some photos for the better lighting, they see a tour group being lead to the Romeo and Juliet windmill tower where Mandy has to reshoot her photos. The tour guide Andy runs up to say they had discovered a body laying in the tall grass like she was sleeping. But she wasn't sleeping, who is she? What was she doing there? And how long? Mark Peters, the man that runs the Preservation with his assistant Gladys can't believe what is found. As Jackie and Mandy find out the name of the woman, they find alot of disturbing information down to the Historical Society and one of their members embezzling funds, adultery, a protective mother of a socially awkward child. Mandy has her blessing coming into the world as Jackie and chief Jeff Mathais tackle the complicated case with many moving parts. You have to get this book to find out the rest!!!!
This was another great mystery by Suzanne Bolden. There were a few suspects, not who I thought, of course. I love that. The usual cast of characters that I have grown to love were all included. There are a few surprises that make it all the more interesting and fun to read.
I like that Jackie is my age 60+. I can relate to her. I like that she has found love in her 60’s. I think the setting, characters and plot are believable…..well except that she figures out who the murderer is each time. I can’t wait to read the next one
A dog named Libby is mentioned in this book, but it is never mentioned that Libby is an Airedale Terrier. The dog has a larger role to play in the other books in the series, and only mentioned in this book. This is a very very very cozy book. More review to come later.
