My name is Addy Scott, and I'm a female omega. If that wasn't bizarre enough, I'm also the first female White Wolf... ever. We live in a secluded pack in northern Alaska called the Freedom Pack, and we house every shifter and other paranormals.
Against the council's orders.
Basically, we're abominations that should be dealt with... And... Well.. That's why we have mages on our side to hide us...
At least that's what we thought. So much is going wrong, and what's worse? I'm about to turn twenty-five and be mate marked. Will my mate even be able to find me, if he's not already here?
Everyone has opinions of who my mate will be... The problem is... I have feelings for several males... and it's tearing me apart. Not that I let it show.
Our issues become much worse on the night of my birthday, and I'm not sure even the Goddess who has 'blessed' me will be able to save me now.
Omega, a 77k word novel, is the first book in the White Wolf series. This is a reverse harem, meaning the main character has more than three love interests and doesn't have to choose. Why choose, anyway?
This book is intended for readers over the age of 18. There may be triggers for sensitive readers, including, strong language, mature adult content, and situations.
Also included in the series: steamy scenes, hot men, m/m, and adventures.
I give this 3 stars because I did finish it and I do want to read the next book. I do think it would be super helpful to get an editor. There were so many compound sentences that it was all I could see on some pages. The word ‘and’ appeared over 1k times, and some sentences had 5 or more of them.
There were also a couple instances where names were confused. Kendrick’s siblings were mentioned, but apparently one of them is both an alpha and omega and the other brother didn’t have a designation. And there was one spot that claimed Eiton was going out with Ben, but his bf’s name is Bane.
This was supposed to be a powerful female lead kind of book. I think. But Addy is too Mary Sue to fit it. She's the strongest warrior. She's an omega but can slack down alphas. She's beautiful. She's kind to those who torment her. She's just too perfect. She didn't grow. She didn't evolve. She was stagnant emotionally and mentally. Her physical form and magic changes right at the very end but eh. The world building is spotty. Everything is disjointed and chopped up. And there's a plot , kind of/sort of/maybe, but they aren't actually doing anything about it. So, the 3 main things that make a book were absent: world building, character development, and a plot. Addy is supposed to represent independent female sxxuality. But, although she makes with the L word with several of them she barely remembers they exist most of the time. And the sheer amount of slut shaming going on, from everyone- including Ms Perfect, was much too over the top. The alphas were barely cardboard cutouts, and in no way running that pack. Seriously? People are dying, people are proven to have taken witch potions (witches are the bad guys here), they've found potions in the alpha house and even one of the alphas was poisoned by a potion...but they can't investigate?? Idiocy. I kept reading thinking maybe someone will actually do something, stand up for the pack and the supes as a whole. Nope. We're supposed to believe that what Addy went through at the very end means she now can but an entire book of her basically being in bed with her various guys and wringing her hands doesn't lend itself to that theory. And this isn't slut shaming. It's calling out the author for trying to claim this is a romance when it's pretty much just erotica. The only time people actually did anything was when they were doing each other. Pack is dying? Oh, well, the do nothing alphas are on it, let's go to bed. The species is at civil war as well as being hunted by vampires and witches? The do nothing alphas are on it, let's go to the cabin and then to bed. If she wasn't doing someone she was drinking or wringing her hands. She didn't exactly come off as the determined do-something hero she's supposed to be. If you want to write erotica, just call it that. Romance has tenderness, love, compassion, bonding moments (that don't always involve the freaking bedroom), and trust. There was none of that in here. I only gave it a couple stars because A) I finished it (although I now need to read something with an actual plot to feed my brain that went numb) B) the war and conflict part sounded interesting and I kept waiting for something to be done about it. 77k words that went nowhere.
*If the mages say they sense witch involvement and you don't put a stop to said involvement because it would infringe on privacy then you're asking to be wiped out. *They have mages but that can detect magic, but they can't determine paternity? A spell that makes the bio-dad glow blue for a moment or something? Seriously? All any mage ever did in this story is create wards, flush out a potion, and confirm the use of potions. Because we get no world building we have no idea what any of the species can actually do. Well, outside of various mating practices. And even that is limited to whether they get to choose or they have a fated. That sums up the knowledge of all the species mentioned. Ugh. *If people have proven to use potions, and it isn't hard because the 1 is dying from it, the family does nothing useful for the pack, the victim "wakes up" from their compulsion, and no one will do anything...the pack is on borrowed time because the enemy is already inside the gates. And the so called protectors, aka the alphas, seem content to plan parties and do nothing. You know what, I'm taking back a star. It gets 1 star because you have to leave a review at all. Oh, and 1 of what I'm assuming will be her mates is gay. Which is fine but he seems happier with his boyfriend than as 1 of however many she's going to wind up with. He's essentially homo-flexible, as in his attraction is completely to men except for her. The reverse of hetero-flexible, where you're primarily attracted to the opposite sex with a singular or very limited exception. Not exactly bi, as that exception is the only outlier to their preference. But the heavy handed way the author tries to imply this is off-putting. The guy really does love his boyfriend. He treats Addy like a friend only. And his boyfriend comes off as a pig because he keeps hinting about threesomes with Addy when it isn't something that his partner seems to want. At all. But I have the feeling both will be her mates because of course they will. Insert eye roll.
I think this series is now one of my favorite shifter worlds. I absolutely love when the author breaks out of the typical shifter world and creates a whole new world. In this book the shifter goddess created only male omegas and the white wolves were the ruling alphas. Our FMC was born an omega and a white wolf. Her father is also a white wolf and treats her well, loves her and protects her, trains her to be strong. She does have some animosity from other wolves in the pack but she has such a good heart that she doesn’t let that affect the way she treats them. Being an omega she can help others emotions. This series starter definitely draws you in and gives you a good perspective of what is going on in this shifterverse. This book centers around the males in her life and her dynamic with them. You get to know each character and understand her attachment to them.
I wholeheartedly recommend this series! I couldn’t put it down once I started reading.
It took forever for anything to happen. And the plot focused so much on mundane things. Literally almost every single day was described it took forever. I feel bad but I ended up skipping a lot of it trying to get to something happening than finally something happens and it's the end of the book. It's a real bummer because I think the plot is actually interesting and the story in theory is good but the writing just drags.
It wasn't bad it just wasn't good enough to keep my interest. I felt as if I was dropped into the book without enough preamble. I didn't really understand Addy's role. I found the 2 alpha dads to be weak, Addy told them something is wrong for 8 years and now suddenly they're listening to her. Why? I looked ahead at reviews and see she is going to have a lot of mates, which is not my preference.
Absolutely loved the story and the premise of the book, enjoying getting to know the characters. I do think that it would benefit possibly from a pro just to cast an eye on the editing, there were a few time line issues and just slightly odd bits that just didn't add up and felt a little disjointed, hence the 4 stars, but if it can be tightened up then brilliant!
I like that Addy is a strong female character. And I love, love, love Oli. He’s so sweet. I’m diving straight into Book Two to find out why Mateo wasn’t mentioned as part of Addy’s mates. I was so sure he would be! Expected to read more about the new magical powers Addy has inherited from Selene.
Not a bad read but about halfway through I realized nothing had happened in the book. It was literally a play-by-play of Addy's day. It got boring fast and I found myself skimming pages to get to something interesting. The most interesting part happened in the last chapter anyways! And it was a cliffhanger! ugh.
I was lost and was skipping pages to try and figure out what the story was about. I like the premise of the story but I was confused a lot. There are quite a few grammatical errors that made it hard for me to read. I was trying to figure out what word the author was trying to use. There was too much going on and not enough at the same time.
I’m so in love with this story! I love reverse harems, and I love it even more when the FMC is a badass with a heart of gold. There are some errors with the writing, but it didn’t draw me away from the book. Can’t wait for the next book to be released!
Lost interest, sped read to the end just to see where it ended up. Wasn’t for me. Strange but predictable world, thrown in to story so no background or watching the relationships grow. Meh
This book has a very interesting premise. I like Addy as a main character. I kinda had it figured out what was going to happen with her birthday, but it was cool meeting everything. Needs a good edit, but was a great read.
Very definitely a reverse harem. The author did a good job with the number of characters introduced. I will assume the unanswered questions will be in book 2. Still I would not call it a cliffhanger.
This book was so original, especially with its take on omegaverse. A little slow with a bit of confusion on the time line, but I'm definitely excited for book 2!
I liked the premise of this book but I think the delivery fell a little short. I enjoyed the relationship between the FMC and the boys but in a few instances they treated her badly and there were no repercussions and barely any apologies. There was also the classic cliche bitchy girl and the relationship between her and the fmc was a little immature and painful to read. I did think it was an enjoyable read for a quick light read. However the second book does dissapoint falling into the easy RH trap of the plot trailing of and the book becoming focused around smut which was disappointing.
Addy is almost at her 25th birthday when she’ll receive her mate marks. Too bad she has so many amazing guy friends whom she all loves in different ways. With women in the pack showing up dead outside the wards and a psycho ex of a friend trying to trap him how will she handle all this plus meeting her fated mate. This was pretty good. It feels like she’s an omega just for an excuse to throw her into heat and have a insane amount of smut. There’s enough plot holding it together thankfully. But seriously lol
