But first, they give me their confessions - and in this 1st boxset collection - you get 12 confessions all in one book!
Fans of Stephen King, Joe Hill and like to read books like The Bird Box, The Haunting and can't get enough stories about serial killers are going to enjoy reading the deathbed confessions from The Asylum.
My name is Jack Steen and for those who arrive on my 'death' ward at the Asylum, I'm the last face many will see before they die. I am the night nurse at the Asylum for the Criminally Insane.
Most of my patients are serial killers and mass murderers and they know me as the Angel of Death.
When they come onto my floor, I offer a tell me their story, their 'untold' story that hasn't been read about in the news, sensationalized by media or cataloged in a ridiculous number of academic papers. I want the real story - the one they haven't old anyone. Some of these killers have never confessed to their crimes, some kept certain information to themselves...those are the stories I want.
If they give them to me, I'll make their death...easier.
The majority of these killers are expert manipulators. I realize they could be playing with me and messing with my head. It's a chance I'm willing to take.
And now...they might just be playing with yours too.
Inside this book are 12 DeathBed Confessions - and it will cost you less to buy this ebook than to buy all three books individually. You'll find confessions 1: The Originals

I don't know how to describe this series. I know I am hooked on Asylum Confessions lol. I can't wait till he releases more books. Its been a long time since i read a whole series that i couldnt put down. I am not usually a short story fan. But Steen keeps you wanting more and has def made me a fan. I might have to check out his Patreon Club 😁. Asylum reminds me of AHS you get different story every chapter but they also have a theme to them. not at all boring some u see the end coming most u don't either way it kept me curious to know what the next patient would be like ..kept me wanting to know the next patient's story. I moving on to book 4 ASAP already wishing there was a 5th book - very impressed .If your a true crime fan & I am- you will like this series even though its fiction.
What can I say? Some of these stories made me sick, some gave me nightmares and some made me cry like a baby. I hope there is more? I enjoyed most of these stories, some, not so much. The author is funny but hard, too. I can't help but wonder if this is real? How many people the author has 'assisted' ?
Get a proofreader, Jacky boy! Also, just because you don't see yourself as a writer - doesn't mean you aren't one.
Book Review: The Asylum Confessions Collection: Box Set: Books 1-3 by Jack Steen
Jack Steen’s The Asylum Confessions Collection: Box Set: Books 1-3 is a gripping introduction to a hauntingly fascinating world of psychological horror and crime. This collection masterfully intertwines suspenseful narratives, complex characters, and profound themes, making it an essential read for fans of the genre. With each book, Steen pulls readers into the chilling confessions of asylum patients, revealing the dark truths behind their violent actions.
Overview and Structure The box set compiles the first three books of the Asylum Confessions series, each focusing on different aspects of the human psyche and the circumstances that lead individuals to commit horrific acts. The structure of these narratives as confessions allows for a unique and intimate glimpse into the minds of the characters, creating a visceral connection between the reader and the storytellers. Steen’s decision to frame each story within the context of an asylum adds layers of intrigue and suspense, setting the stage for a thrilling exploration of madness and morality.
Thematic Depth One of the standout features of this collection is its exploration of complex themes such as guilt, redemption, and the nature of evil. Steen adeptly examines how societal pressures, familial relationships, and personal trauma can lead individuals down dark paths. Each confession reveals not only the horrors of the acts committed but also the psychological factors that contribute to them, encouraging readers to grapple with difficult questions about morality and humanity.
Additionally, the themes of isolation and obsession are prevalent throughout the narratives. The asylum setting serves as a powerful metaphor for the confinement of the mind, where characters are not only trapped by their physical surroundings but also by their own psychological turmoil. This duality enhances the emotional weight of the confessions, making the stories resonate on a deeper level.
Character Development Steen’s character development is both impressive and unsettling. Each patient’s confession is crafted with nuance, revealing their motivations, fears, and vulnerabilities. Steen successfully humanizes these individuals, prompting readers to empathize with their struggles while simultaneously confronting the horror of their actions. This complex approach to character portrayal ensures that no single narrative feels predictable or one-dimensional, keeping readers engaged throughout the collection.
Writing Style and Accessibility Steen’s writing is compelling and atmospheric, characterized by vivid imagery and a strong sense of pacing. He expertly balances tension with psychological insight, creating an immersive experience that captivates the reader’s attention. The dialogue feels authentic, and the inner thoughts of the characters are presented with a depth that draws readers into their psychological landscapes. This accessibility makes the collection appealing to both seasoned horror aficionados and those new to the genre.

Steen’s work is not just a thrill ride; it is a poignant exploration of what it means to be human, making this collection a must-read for those seeking both suspense and substance in their literary experiences.
It is hard to write a review on this series. Not because it was not good, but how do you write a review for three different books with different stories in each one that just was amazing. I enjoyed how each story was different than the one before and how each one was given. If you want to learn the dark secrets that someone holds until their last breath, then I highly suggest you start reading this series. You won't be disappointed.
Can you imagine?? Death bed confessions by the criminally insane?? I am hooked… A few of them got me good, especially the last story…. Nature or nurture???
I just love the individual stories, reading the death bed concessions of a wide variety of inmates. A great read if you're a fan of the criminally insane genre
I love all of these book I finished the 1 and 2 one and I'm on the 3rd and so far I am I love with jack steens books. I'm not much of a reader but the book jack steen writes is the best.
Took me a bit to finish because of moving and holidays, but I really did enjoy reading this collection. (Ooof, what does that say about me? lol) He is correct about not being a writer; it isn't hard to understand what he is getting at, although some parts I cringed at the errors... but the stories are good enough that it didn't matter to me.
I initially thought transferring from pen & paper to typing it up for a book, that a lot got lost in translation, but then I came to the conclusion that this seems to be more fiction. I've noticed that at first all of the patients said the same thing while talking to Jack. If one story has a certain phrase, you will see it again in another story. The wording between so many different people are too closely related to be of different minds. I still like the book and will continue to read the collection.
