Hank loves his job as the night shift watchman. He sees all that goes on inside the walls of the depraved facility. It's a playground for the filthy rich. The rules are simple; what the rich want the rich get.
What a fucking bloodbath. Awesome read. Lindsay Crook is brutal and is here to stay. loved it. On a side note the women of the extreme horror indie scene are bringing the heat as of late and also y'all scare the Fuck outta me that is all😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Lindsay turned the extreme dial up to 11 on this one. It’s good to know that even with all the messed up stuff going on, the golden rule is still applied. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Let each page drift from your e-reader as you peruse this tale of crazy night shift debauchery. This tale twists, turns, disturbs and bleeds, be careful what you do to others because, well, read the book and find out!
In life, there are several items which have ended up in my kitchen which never get used: pasta machines, toasted sandwich makers, cafetières and so on. Thanks to Lindsay, I now have a new use for the 1970s electric carving knife!
Night Shift is bloody, brutal, and bloody brutal. We’ve all met someone like Hank, a no-good liberty taker with few redeeming features, and it made me smile when he got his comeuppance.
Well, that was fucking savage!!!! 😮 As soon as I read the first chapter I knew I was gonna love it! Absolute, blood soaked carnage!! Brilliant!! Keep 'em coming Lindsay!! 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸
Lindsay is definitely show her skill and great ideas for stories. Very dark and extreme. Lots of blood 🩸. Just be careful of how you act on your wants and desires…it may cost you.
Lindsay Crook tells us a tale that’s a little bit Hostel, a little bit Nightcrawler, and a whole lot of unpleasantness. Does that sound amazing to you? It really should! As important as it is to love what you do, Hank loves his job perhaps a little too much. As a guard in the high-security facility where the most depraved desires are fulfilled, Hank witnesses atrocities that would shatter the spirit of most people. He is not like most people. What happens when watching simply isn’t enough? We’ve all taken liberties at work. There’s no sense in pretending we’re innocent of that. Unfortunately for Hank, his employers are far less forgiving than most. One might expect such a thing from a shadowy, secret organization that caters to only the ultra-wealthy and decadent when legal pleasures are no longer sufficient. Come walk the halls with us and tune into the monitors as we watch horrors unfold.
Day #2 of 31 days of Godless had me singing “Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous” by Good Charlotte the whole time. Lindsay Crook came in like a wrecking… sledgehammer, with her short, “Night Shift”.
Oh, buddy. Where to start? Hank is a pervert night shift security guard. He likes to watch and touch the merchandise when he should be making sure the elite are comfortable and taken care of. Mistakes are made and punishments handed out.

Hanks story is full of gore, horror and shocks; Lindsay did a fantastic job. When the rich want bodies, they get them no matter the price; it taught me the horrors of the human appetite and how far people are willing to go with their depravity. With description so vivid, I was seeing every horrible scene unfold right in front of me. If you have the stomach you'll wanna check out Lindsay's story.
The rich pay to play in some brutal ways. Crook goes straight SAVAGE! The clients their victims and then toss in Hank. Watching wasn't enough for Hank anymore. He wanted in on some fun too. Wish granted, Hank! Wow!
I'd love to read a longer book from this author. She tore it up in just a few chapters so I can only imagine what a full length book would be like. Fantastic work. I look forward to reading more.
Extremely interesting premise — I’ve always loved the movie Hostel, and the “elite buying people to do what they want” trope. This was executed quite nicely. However I was taken out of the story a lot due to lack of editing. It was weird though, because some of it seemed cleaned up and some of it wasn’t at all. Either way, it was decent.
Imagine Hostel but from the perspective of a night watchman who sees and gets off to the carnage. This story was brutal and the torture scenes make it more visceral and messed up.
5* - for the ability to make me feel like I'm in the room. Very imaginative and made me think of the voyeuristic fear of Rear Window crossed with the location and plot of Hostel
3.5* - because torture porn isn't my kind of horror. But this still kept me reading, I knew Hank deserved a terrible end and so I wanted to see if it would happen.
So I'm giving 4.5 stars total. Chilling and visceral. Is it weird that I want to read a book about the couple's life outside of the facility?

Meet Hank. Hank loves his job. He really loves it. What does Hank do? He works as a night-shift security watchman for a place that caters to depraved rich people. He gets his jollies by watching them do horrible things to people. His escapades end up catching up with him, and he must pay the price. What the rich want, the rich get.
A gore-filled story that does not disappoint. Lindsay shows once again why she has quickly become one of my must-read authors. I know I sound like a broken record, but her stuff is a must-read. Do it. Do it now.
i liked this story.. but there were a lot of typos and stuff which i understand don't always get caught when editing but every typo/incorrect use of a comma made me stop and i had to reread over and over to ensure that it was in fact a mistake. so it was just a little distracting.
anyway!! i liked this. i liked the concept. and i usually don't say this...but i wish there would've been MORE. i kept thinking, "so Hank fucked up these couple of times, and then BOOM...? what was his work ethic like before? was he always like this and their just now getting fed up? what kind of coworker was he?" ANNNNNND, little cat lady at the end. i needed more about her. i LOVED the image of her in the green dress and "dripping diamonds".
Hank is a disgusting and depraved human being who loves his job. He works in a building that houses “toys” for the wealthy to play with. Blood is spilt around the clock for those who can afford to pay for their darkest desires.
“This is the devil's playground where the rich get nasty, and the victims more than likely meet their deaths in terrible ways.”
Readers follow Hank at work and see the lows he stoops to, sometimes getting him in trouble. This was definitely a splattery tale of terror.
This is a naughty extreme horror, like Hostel without the whiney teens. However, a star is lost for a lot of typos, especially from chapter 8 on. Such as "is" when clearly it's supposed to be "his", and "a lone" when it's "alone". I only mention this because it really took me out of all the gore, which was such a strong point.
