A Murderous Enemy Makes an Evil BargainWhen an aspiring actress meets a violent end after attending a party at the exclusive Bliss Cove Resort, her death sparks a desperate manhunt for an evil predator who will stop at nothing to hide his deadly past.As reporter Veronica Lee investigates the link between the homicide victim and a prominent billionaire, a woman on the run exposes the ugly truth behind his powerful circle of friends, becoming the heartless killer’s next target. And when a bitter adversary from Veronica’s past enlists the help of an unlikely accomplice, Veronica must stop a remorseless killer before he fulfills a murderous bargain. Written by Melinda Woodhall, author of the addictive Mercy Harbor Thriller series.
I have to admit out of Melinda's series, the Veronica Lee isn't my favorite as it just seems that Veronica is a beacon for trouble, and when she isn't as proactive as I wish she would be. Also, she still is all up in the air with Hunter and overprotective of Skylar despite that Skylar has proven time and time again that she is the strongest female in the series as if anyone can go through what Skylar has and still be happy and friendly, you have to be a strong resilient personality. Her Fatal Hour is set in Bliss Cove where the elite are being brought down from their perches and their secret scandals being aired to the public. In Her Fatal Hour, we read as a couple of females are being murdered to keep quiet as someone from the elite is worried about his secrets coming to light - The Tin Man. Can Veronica with the help of PI Frankie and Barker as well as the Willow Bay PD / FBI track down the other girls and find out who is behind the killings before more innocents have to die? The way this series is played out makes me think we are coming to the end of the Veronica Lee series. What I would love to see is a series focused solely on Frankie and Barker as love Frankie's character especially. Sadly, this was my least favorite of the Veronica Lee series as I feel it has done its dash with this character but overall, I do enjoy Melinda Woodhall's mysteries, and fans of Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot will love also.
Reporter Veronica Lee is chasing a story. She received a text message from a woman who has information on a prominent wealthy man. She has linked him and his very powerful friends to crimes involving young women. Shortly after sending that message, she is shot and killed in from of the newspaper offices.
Another woman is on the run ... certain that she's to be the next victim. She knows the ugly truth and is willing to talk .. if she lives long enough.
Veronica must stop a remorseless killer before he fulfills a murderous bargain.
This is an excellent addition to an already established compelling series. Although this is the 7th book, it is easily read as a stand alone. However, I do recommend reading them in order as character development shows credibility and depth. It's a well written novel with twists and turns that lead to an unexpected conclusion.
Many thanks to the author / Booksirens for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Not one book in this series has disappointed me yet. I love the relationships between all the characters because they are so complex and real. Not one of them is perfect or anything close to it. I was a little surprised in the beginning that Skyler and Atticus weren't talking to each other. After the way the last book ended I figured those two would have been helping each other through the trauma they both experienced. I guess I can't blame Veronica for being overprotective and trying to keep them apart though. She just wants to protect her sister from further trauma after all she has gone through already. Atticus is a good guy though and all he wants is to move on from the bad stuff in his past, and find his stepsister who he believes is in trouble. Even though they separated on bad terms he still cares for her and wants nothing more than to see her safe, especially when the bodies start piling up during the search for her and it's clear someone is cleaning house. This latest is definitely Melinda Woodhall at her best.
No worries, you can read each book separately without any problems although I highly recommend reading each book in sequence in order to get the outmost of the exiting stories they provide. Reading, you will notice that this series overlaps with the other series in Ms. Woodhall’s library.
What is in store for you, here is a snippet:
A Young woman meets a violent death after attending a party at an exclusive resort. Veronica Lee is the link between the victim and a prominent billionaire. A friend of the victim on the run wants to expose the ugly truth behind the circle of powerful men and Veronica will get to the truth at any cost....
My thoughts:
With the opening lines Jeffrey Epstein came to mind and I couldn’t stop seeing some resemblance between the facts in Epstein saga and Ms. Woodhall’s fiction. ”Her Fatal Hours” takes us on a journey where sex trafficking of minors and murder are at the forefront and where the rich and famous have no fear. We are immersed right from the start in conspiracies and criminal activities. Along the way we have interesting twists and turns to keep us on our toes and flipping the pages for another exciting outcome. Veronica is once more on top of her trade, as a journalist see goes for the truth first and a story second, digs deep to get what she wants and not shy to asked help from her friends.
I wondered all through who could be the mysterious “Tin Man” that kept popping in and out and killing young women, only in the last pages did his true identity revealed. We also have familiar characters working alongside Veronica to engage us in the drama as well as adding a touch into their personal live for us to discover..
What an exciting story played out by wonderful characters.

Her Fatal Hour is the seventh book in the Veronica Lee Thriller series, each book seems to pull me more and more into the series. Veronica tends to have all these dead people turn up on her watch, to try to figure out who is responsible for their deaths. She doesn't have to chase a story; they just fall into her lap over and over again. Each of the books can be read as a standalone but the series is much better reading it as a series. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.
I received an ARC from Booksirens and am under no obligation to leave a favorable review.
The witness is assassinated on Veronica's doorstep . . . now it's up to Veronica to get justice for her.
Social media influencer and budding starlet Ava Sutton is determined to bring Royce Sterling down. No matter what.
Investigator and reporter Veronica Lee is the only person Ava trusts to help get her story out.
But Ava is assassinated before she can tell the reporter what she knows.
Woodhall's narrative keeps her readers on the edge of their seats. Hard-hitting and no holds barred, what her characters face seems to have stepped right off recent front pages. This was a read-in-one-sitting book, but then Woodhall is a master at that!
Looking forward to Veronica's next adventure!
[I was fortunate to receive a copy of this book from the author through Booksirens, with no obligation to review. The opinions expressed herein are given freely and are entirely my own.]
I just finished the new Nessa Ainsley novella and I was so surprised to find out that another Veronica Lee book was out! I literally squealed with delight when I saw the news. Her Fatal Hour is the 7th book in the Veronica Lee Series and all books in the series are standalone, but I highly encourage you to read the books in order to get the most out of the series and books. I have grown to love the town of Willow Bay and all the characters In the series, especially Veronica Lee and Nessa Ainsley. I love how there’s some overlap in the series and how they are somewhat of an ongoing story for the characters and the town.
Ava Sutton, an up and coming actress and social media influencer, is found murdered at the heart of Willow Bay, the Channel 10 News Station, but not before she was able to warn those who need it and email Veronica Lee on the activities and dangers of the men who frequent Bliss Cove. As the investigation of Ava’s murder continues, Veronica Lee is determined to uncover the truths about Bliss Cove and seek justice for the young women who were preyed by those “untouchable” men who might have been in business with Rex Bentley and the Syndicate. Atticus Ward, the son of a former Syndicate soldier, reports his sister missing and believes she is at the mercy of the Syndicate. As both investigations are under way, Nessa, the FBI, Operation Stolen Angels task force, and Frankie Dawson race against the clock to find out the men responsible for the missing women as more women receive the same fate as Ava. Trying to figure out what is actually happening in Bliss Cove, who is the man the young women are afraid of, and what Calista Roth is up to are the questions you find yourself asking as a series of events seem to unfold the horrible truths about the Bliss Cove Resort and the men who run it.
I enjoyed reading more about Frankie Dawson and his investigation on finding Atticus’s step- sister, Violet. I like how Frankie has vowed to help young girls like his sister, Franny, and how he saw himself in young Atticus. Throughout the series, you see Frankie transform himself into a different person, be accepted into the community, and make something of himself. I love what he told Atticus not to give up hope and that he may never know when his luck may change. It’s like he saw his life come full circle and wanted to give Atticus something that he wished someone told him.
Even though this book has no cliff hanger, I was left with some questions and wanting more. I can’t ever get my fill of Willow Bay and the dangerous situations and cases that seem to surround it. I don’t think this is the last of the Syndicate and Calista Roth. I have some suspicions she is a lot more involved in the evil organization that what she lets on.
I highly recommend this book and the whole Veronica Lee series. The author writes her stories that just grab you by the first few pages along with Veronica’s Nancy Drew like crime solving makes you read just one more chapter just to find out what happens next. Throughout the whole book, I had a couple suspects in mind who the Tin Man was and when the identity was revealed I was shocked that I didn’t guess that person. Needless to say, this book had me on the edge of my seat with the investigations, the action, the revelations, and the people of Willow Bay that I have grown to know and love. If you find yourself wondering if you should read this book, the answer is yes. Its totally worth the one click. You will not regret it!
I received a copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my thoughts on the book.
Her Fatal Hour by Melinda Woodhall Published: September 14, 2021 Creative Magnolia I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.
Melinda Woodhall is the author of the page-turning Mercy Harbor Thriller series and the addictive new Veronica Lee Thriller series. She also writes women’s contemporary fiction as M.M. Arvin. When she’s not writing, Melinda can be found reading, gardening, chauffeuring her children around town, and updating her vegetarian lifestyle website. Melinda is a native Floridian and the proud mother of five children. She lives with her family in Orlando.
“What harm could it do?”
When an up-and-coming influencer reaches out to Veronica Lee but is killed before they can meet, everyone pays attention. Now, Veronica, Hunter, Nessa, and the rest of Willow Bays finest are racing the clock to try and figure out who is killing women connected to a powerful billionaire- before someone close to home becomes the next target.
I have so much appreciation for this series. I have come to love the characters, and Willow Bay, so much. The twists and turns in this book were well done, and the lead-up to what could happen in the next book is tantalizingly intense.
I enjoyed that we get to know Atticus Ward more in this book and get more insight into who he is. His character is so deeply emotional. I hope he is going to join as a series regular moving forward.
I enjoyed all the side storylines throughout this book, including getting to know Greta a bit more. She is still mysterious but charmingly so.
I would like to see some character development with Skylar in the coming books, as she is bound to be a major player moving forward. This was a fantastic installation to the Veronica Lee series, and I am ready for the next book!
This is the seventh book in the Brilliant "Veronica Lee Thriller" series, all standalone but I would urge reading them in sequence to get the most enjoyment.
Ava Sutton was to be brutally murdered before she could warn her friends that "The Tin Man" was out to get them but not before she was able to send a quick text to Veronica Lee.
Veronica and her boyfriend, Hadley Hunter, worked for channel ten news, when Veronica saw a text from a girl who had turned up murdered it set off a chain of events that put many lives at risk……..the syndicate were back in business.
Atticus Ward had to find his sister Violet, but would he follow in his father's dark footsteps to do so ?
This story is gripping from the first pages, Willow Bay is a dangerous place to live, the body count escalates and Nessa Ainsley and her police team are running out of time.
Who is the tin man ? what are the connections to the exclusive Bliss Cove Resort ? how can two dangerous people be reaching out from prison ? how long before they get out ?
Melinda Woodhall has written another page turner that had me reading into the wee small hours, it was great being back in Willow Bay, it was like catching up with old friends. This story is action packed with edge of your seat suspension, a real roller coaster……..and no, I didn't guess the identity of the tin man.
A very well deserved five stars.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
In this , the 7th book of the series, Veronica Lee , Channel 10 reporter, is drawn further into the Syndicates business when a woman is shot dead in front of the radio station where she works. Ava Sutton had emailed Veronica asking for help and was making her way to the station to tell what she knew about the exclusive Bliss Cove Resort that had just started trending on Twitter, and not in a good way.
I really like this series, and while this is a good stand alone read, it’s so much better to have read the previous books. We meet Veronica Lee again, along with a whole host of other characters from this series, all of whom have their own really good bad stories so that it feels like you know them well. The Syndicate features again, despite at least 2 of its top people in custody or dead. This is fast paced, with really good storylines. I also didn’t work out who The Tinman was which, for me, is always the sign of a really good plot. Several story lines that continued from previous books were nicely played out. Very enjoyable read. Can’t wait to see what Veronicas next assignment will be.

I have read, enjoyed, and reviewed so many of Ms. Woodhall's books that I'm afraid I'm beginning to repeat myself, but there are only so many ways to say how much I enjoy her writing. Her characters are not overblown; they are created to come across as people the reader could actually know. (Even though some of the bad guys I sure wouldn't want to know.) Her dialogue and descriptions are clear and concise, with the dialogue flowing naturally and not at all stilted or forced. One thing she does that I especially enjoy is to provide a look into the killer's mind and how they are reacting to the murder and the investigation. The reader 'knows' the killer from a certain standpoint but never their identity and it is almost always a surprise. If you haven't read any of Ms. Woodhall's books, I suggest you remedy that as soon as possible. I received a review copy from BookSirens and this is my honest opinion. I would like to thank them and Ms. Woodhall for the opportunity to read it.
Woodhall recovers nicely in the seventh book of this series and I get a strong feeling she’s setting up a bigger story. The thing I’ve learned as I have worked my way through the previous books is that no one can be trusted and no one appears to be who they seem.
This book took on a darker take with a more ripped from the headlines feeling as Veronica Lee and company work to solve the mysterious death of an up and coming influencer in the parking lot of their news station. A wealthy billionaire and his cronies are suspected of foul play, along with trafficking of young women in south Florida. Meanwhile, witnesses in custody are dropping like flies (sound familiar?) as the Willow Bay crew searches to find one of their own.
As with the previous books, the body count is high and the thrill of the chase is on. I could not put this one down, which is the mark of a well-written suspense novel.

A young woman is killed trying to reach Veronica Lee! A young man is looking for his sister! And, the story takes the reader on a unpredictable journey that is fast paced, filled with suspense and nail biting moments!
Ms. Woodhall creates an exciting world that is realistically opulent and immersed in conspiracies and criminal activities. By sharing her characters’ thought processes and fears, an intriguing storyline is developed. There are answers but also enough questions to guarantee another story to be told.
Her Fatal Hour is book seven of the Veronica Lee Thrillers. This is Melinda Woodhall at her best! The first Veronica Lee thriller I read was book four in February 2021. I have since read all of Melinda Woodhall series. She is an extremely talented author.
This is yet another very enjoyable read from the Veronica Lee series. Starts off with a social media star being murdered outside the TV station, and the pace never lets up throughout.
There are some older names involved here so you would want to have read the earlier books in the series first, alongside some shady individuals associated with a billionaire. All adds up to a gripping, fast-moving story where for once, Veronica isn't fully up front and central. This allows the other characters like Atticus and Frankie to be of more focus.
I throughly enjoyed this and it is probably my favourite of the series so far. Hope there's not too long a wait for the next one.

We thought that the syndicate was done for with the arrest of Judge Rex Bently, but can all the tentacles really be totally removed? In this installment, Veronica gets a message from an influencer from Bliss Cove willing to dish dirt on a billionaire known for his fondness for “young” women. Unfortunately, before they can talk, she is found murdered on the steps of the Channel 10 Broadcasting building in Willow Bay. This sets off another round of missing women, missing prisoners, a lavish playboy resort, and people willing to tell their story.
This is another great mystery in the series. The characters, crimes, and clues keep getting better with each installment. I would highly recommend to read the whole series. Thanks to BookSirens for the copy of this book.
Her Fatal Hour is Book 7 in A Veronica Lee Thriller by Melinda Woodhall. Actress Ava Sutton is at a party billionaire Royce Sterling is hosting at Bliss Cove. Unfortunately, Royce and his rich friends are not good men. Ava decided that since Veronica Lee helped bring down a judge, she can help her escape the "Tin Man". When Ava is murdered in the Channel 10 parking lot, Veronica and her friends work to solve the murder. I have found that all of the books in this series are fast paced and exciting. The writing is outstanding with interesting characters. I can't wait to see what Melinda Woodhall writes next, it will be fabulous. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
When a social media influencer from Bliss Cove is murdered in front of Channel 10 news station in Willow Bay Veronica sets out on a journey with others trying to unravel the mystery of her death. The suspenseful twists and turns keep you intrigued trying to figure out who the Tin Man is. Just when the FBI thinks they are bringing down the top players in the Syndicate they realize that the Syndicate has many powerful people in high places. Tin Man's identity took me by surprise! Thank you Booksirens and the author for a digital copy. Read and reviewed voluntarily and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
This series just goes from strength to strength and although book 7 may be read as a standalone, I would urge that you read the previous ones to get the most from it. Plenty of murders, evil people and wrong doings to keep the reader engrossed along with those trying to uphold the law and be kind to others! As a Brit, I am always intrigued by how many different departments and jurisdictions become involved in America and who is in charge of what. Overall a great read about Veronica Lee and her family, both personal and work wise and look forward to the next book. Thanks to Book Sirens for the ARC to review.
Love the Veronica Lee series!! The recurring characters have become so real, they feel like people you actually know. The storylines are filled with suspense and twists and turns. You just have to keep reading to know what is going to happen next. Melinda's books never disappoint. If you are looking for an action packed thriller, this is the book for you. It grabs you from the beginning until the very end. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.
"Her Fatal Hour" is the 7th book in Melinda Woodhall's "Veronica Lee" series, and they just keep getting better. Loving this series, but I have definitely decided I will never move to Willow Bay - just too much happens there! Let's hope finally all the hard work by Veronica and her friends has finally brought an end to the evil "Syndicate" that has been plaguing Willow Bay and its residents for so long now.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It's no surprise that "Her Fatal Hour" brought a day of reading enjoyment. The series gets more involved, more complex with every new book. Yes it helps to read them in order but great thing is, you really don't have too. The books and characters are intertwined but the reader is not left with a cliffhanger. My only comment is the fact that so much crime is connected to (what I believe) is a small but quaint village.
This follows a group of criminals with connections in high places we have met before. A social media influencer is murdered to protect identities and secrets. Veronica Lee becomes involved in the investigation when the victim contacts her to tell her story. Plenty of twists and turns in the story and the WBPD face plenty of obstacles and opposition to their enquiries. Another great read.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.

This is book 7 in the compelling Veronica Lee series. Investigative reporter Veronica Lee must try and stop a killer before he strikes again. She’s chasing another explosive story involving a prominent rich man, one witness has already been killed and another is running for her life, will she live long enough to tell her story? Another great storyline in this very exciting series
As always you will not be disappointed with this Veronica Lee Thriller. There are turns and twists everywhere. I love the characters in this series, and I feel like I could live in Willow Bay! I have gotten to know these characters so well going through this series. They seem like "friends"! I find myself cheering them on to victory! The book ending leaves little doubt in the reader's mind that this series will continue - which makes me very happy!
Veronica is on the hunt again, after receiving a text of nefarious wrong doings. Money and power become a a heady intoxicating corrupting brew for a group of powerful men. They are capable and willing to commit murder to maintain their secrets. I tried to read this book as fast as possible, becoming immersed in this well paced mystery. I really like how M.W imbues her characters with nuance and emotion.
Sometimes I worry about the people of Willow Bay. Like Jessica Fletcher's Cabot Cove, people are being killed off at an astonishing rate. It's always a bit of a surprise who the bad guys are, but there's always quite a bit of foreshadowing that happens in a Woodhall mystery. This is a good one with twists and turns to the very last page.

When Ava sends a text that she is coming into the Channel Ten News station to speak to Veronica about what her boss is doing, it is not until after her date with Hunter that Veronica sees the text and by then it is entirely too late. Ava has been shot through the heart right outside the station. This latest Veronica Lee thriller is packed full of action and ends in a type of cliffhanger. Highly recommended.
I received an advance review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As with all Melinda Woodhall book, the action is immediate and constant. There really are no down times in her writings. You want a bang for your buck, her stories give that to you. This is the seventh of the Veronica Lee series and things continue on with murder, betrayal, and unsuspected enemies. As always, written with a strong hand and a clear concise voice. Wonderful entry into this series once again.

Another great addition to the Veronica Lee series.
I really enjoy these books, the pace is always good, and the story is written is a really flowing style. This wasn't my favourite in the series, not quite as many twists as some, but still a really enjoyable read. Thanks to Book Sirens for sending me a free copy to read and review.
