The world is in crises. Humankind has fallen far from God's Word. Right is wrong, A man can be a woman. Lies are truth. Truth is racist and ridiculed. Science is the new religion. The earth, God's creation, is to be worshipped. God, who created the earth, is to be scorned. What if, during this chaotic time, there was a calling? What if the 144,000, the twelve thousand from each of the twelve tribes of Israel, were called to proclaim Christ as the savior of humankind? Who would they be? How would they react? Would anyone listen to them? What forces would work against them? This is a work of fiction that explores these questions. The most important question are you one who has been called?
I view books that glorify my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in different metrics from many. As a novel, this book commands high praise, for it’s use of Scripture, true to life portrayal of every day people, and adherence to the Will, Intent, and Purpose of God. Another way to look at this book is it’s true to reality view of humanity. The amount of tears, laughter, reflection, and wisdom that cannot come, but from God. No, it doesn’t follow the Bible, as regards to every word, jot, and tittle. It does however, cover God’s Love for us, encourage people to seek Him, and most importantly, receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. “The Calling” is entertaining, educational, and encouraging. It also gives a very good reason for us to look to Our Lord, and The Word, to see that hatred is never the answer. In Ephesians 2:14-18, the separation of Jew and Gentile is highlighted. There can be NO separation. This is made clear to the casual reader in the form of the character Mustafa, who is changed from ISIS warrior, to a prophet of God, and one of God’s Chosen.
This is a well worth read- one to savor, and truthfully, long for more from the writer, a Brother in Christ Jesus. I wish him and his family, long, healthy, happy, lives…
There are some wonderful aspects of this novel. But I also had some issues. The beginning was really rough for me. I suppose the author was going for authenticity, and realism. But one of the reasons ( there are many) that I read only Christian novels, is to avoid certain things. I hear enough swearing, etc in the real world, that I can 'imagine' what would be said. For example if the author wrote, the young hoodlum called the young woman every disgraceful name in the book, I would 'get it'. I don't really need every foul word written out.
Additionally, there were times in the book, I wondered, is this heading in a prosperity message? Or, is this unity, almost heading to a one world religion? etc.
It is true, that the gospel message was loud and clear, and I very much appreciated that. I guess you have to keep in mind this is fiction.
But when a Muslim coverts and becomes an on fire for Jesus evangelist, but yet..... still may lump Allah, etc. by name in his praise for the Lord God..... I had trouble with that.
When this story was good, it was really really good..... and, if you keep in mind it is fiction..... you may enjoy it.
Also I don't exactly agree with the author's time line.... he even writes that is not really his true focus His message is more: Love God, and love your neighbor and he mentions several times Jesus may come back at any time.... but, maybe even 100 years from now.
I was somewhat conflicted by this novel, I didn't know if I wanted to give this a 2 or a 6 ( if they had one) so 4 it is.
This book does that and more. A moving thought, provoking story wrapped into today’s events and scripture. You will be moved and challenged. Jesus is love and without Him we are lost. Especially love the ending!
Loved the multiple stories of around the world as people start sharing their faith in God and how humanity starts to wake up. I especially liked the concept that the 144,000 already have the seal of God on their foreheads and are in amongst everyday people and they are the once’s to preach the gospel to bring about revival! Great story, it ended too soon.
This is a pretty good story. I recommend reading it. I believe the end times will be just a little bit different with quite a bit more persecution but I love the revival story in this book.
A great spiritual read. I was deeply moved by the message of Christ in these troubled times. Glad to have found this wonderful, powerfully written book.
