June 2, 2022If you only knew how much I was anticipating for this new story by Danda K., since I had loved her previous duet!!!
I am really really sad to say that I couldn’t connect with either main characters and the story was dragging. There were also many details and inner thoughts that stole away from my interest and avidity, despite how much I tried to keep reading, It really broke my heart that I dnf it @ 39%. 😢💔

OMGosh
In every way possible, this book broke me, literally broke me into the tiniest fragments of pieces.
At the moment, I'm beyond words. I'm in an uncharacteristically giddy state of joy after reading this book.
I am gripped by awe, no - that's not the right word - I am blissfully lost in a book paradise.
Finally, a book that ignited my love for reading. There's a spark of creativity in every word, a kilowatt of a literary masterpiece.
There was nothing unlikable about the characters because they were so well developed.
It is an exciting coming-of-age romance with two likable characters.
A compelling, complex character, Morgan, and a charismatic character, Kimberly, display their own distinct styles and themes, respectively. From the moment they met, everything else fell into place.
They were engulfed in a whirlpool of unexplored emotions, and the questions that this suddenness raised were beyond explanation. Every conversation between the two of them was wonderful, and I loved watching them interact.
Every step of their relationship was portrayed by the author in a way that captured my attention. In this way, each person provides a unique perspective on the trials of their life they are trying to overcome.
It was easy to discern how much they both share and how many layers of their history were revealed thanks to how well the author wrote dual timelines and dual points of view.
The author has just swept me into a puddle of gratification and appreciation.
The writing style is beautiful - not overly flowery, but definitely gripping.
It is clear that the author has a talent for words. In her book, she describes love as understood from two very different perspectives. It flowed very well when she described each scene and the characters' appearances, as well as the dialogue.
Authors like this are geniuses. In telling a story with such a heartrending plot without sugarcoating it, she highlighted the adage "It ain't always rainbows and butterflies. There are some people who can never have a good life, some dreams and ambitions will never come true.
It pales in comparison to every other book I have read in the past months and years.
Hopefully, this book will receive all the accolades and praise it deserves. Choosing to read this book and the one following would be the most effective use of my time.
This book and author have made a positive impact on my reading progress, and I am so glad that I gave them a chance.

This is my new favourite from Danda! I know I say this a lot but this book truly blew my mind away. I had the pleasure of Beta reading this one and what an amazing ride it was.
I laughed. I cried. I enjoyed.
This book tells the story of Morgan, who has been leading a life of compromise. He puts up a ‘bad boy’ front in public. Everyone thinks they have him all figured out cause he only lets them see what he wants them to see. But inside he’s alone, breaking. Danda did an amazing job of capturing the subtle nuances of his character. He is not going to let anyone in until a dark and curly haired girl who changed his life in just one night.
Kimberly was an enigma. She was fierce, strong-willed and determined. But she has walls of steel surrounding her heart. She’s never had an easy life so she is used to being on her own, not letting anyone close. Enter Morgan!
Their chemistry was explosive. The push and pull made the story interesting and oh so steamy. There was the trademark emotional rollercoaster, Danda style! I can’t wait for the next book.

Book 3 from the amazing Danda K. I’m a little speechless right now. Kimmy is one tough chick. She’s been through so much and doesn’t let people in easily. And then here comes Morgan into her life. And boy does he throw her for a loop! The chemistry between Kim & Morgan is off the charts insane!! You have an amazing way with words, Danda. But I’m so mad right now!!!! Where is book 2? I need it now!!!

Hands down one of the best books I have ever read!
Morgan is the perfect dose of a "bad boy" with a good heart and a good 🍆 ! Lol. Kim is a powerhouse and can't be tamed but Morgan does an excellent job of trying. That ending had me DEAD! I CANT WAIT FOR MORE! Danda has this way of bringing you into their world and making you feel everything they feel! This book had everything you could want and need, it was literal perfection. 🙌🥵😘🤌 chefs kiss!

Having read The Ties That Bind Us Duet recently I've been looking so forward to reading more of Ms.K's work! As soon as i found out about this one i couldn't wait to read it! I picked it up as soon as i could and ended up finishing it in one sitting. I so enjoyed this first book!
This first installment in Kim and Morgan's journey pulled me in! This first book and it's characters had me feeling so much from beginning to end! The way it brought out so many of my emotions and the realness shown by both characters got to me. I loved getting to dig deeper with these characters. I so enjoyed the heat between them!
I wasn't sure what all was going to happen that had me glued to my kindle even more!
With You Broke Me First, Ms.K brought the feels in all kinds of ways! This was such a good read that i couldn't turn away from. I have such a bookhangover and I'll most definitely be counting down the days until book two! 💚

Wow! These two were like watching a soap opera they were so funny and so back and forth with their feelings for one another. The banter between Kim & Morgan was great, they were so entertaining & had the best quick remarks. Morgan’s dirty mouth was amazing & I really enjoyed his character. He was a bit of a playboy but once he met Kim he was a one woman man and his dedication to her even thru the back and forth was really refreshing. The spice between these two was wild & they had really great chemistry. When they were good they were great and when they weren’t they were like a bomb that was about to go off. I’m not huge into the miscommunication trope or any kind of parent involvement and this book had both. The miscommunication seemed to move quickly though. Morgan and Kim’s misunderstandings were frequent but were also cleared up quickly and I appreciated that. The ending left me in a puddle on the floor so unsure about how the next book will turn out but I have high hopes for these two.

This book as two POV’s, Kim’s and Morgan’s. The journey that they go one is a roller coaster, that is guaranteed to make your heart stop. This is book 1 of 2! Make sure to have your kindle in a strong case! Because you will throw it! I can not wait for book 2! With is definitely a 10 star review!

This. Book. Y’all…I don’t even know where to start. Just when I thought my girl Danda K couldn’t create a more amazing couple than Jax & Cameron, she gives us Morgan & Kim! Morgan is the cocky, dirty talking bad boy that we all fantasize about 😍 And boy does he know his way around the bedroom…shew 🔥 If anyone says that weren’t at least a little jealous of Kim, they’re lying to you.
In true Danda fashion, she leaves us with one hell of a cliffhanger…right after she ripped my heart out. I am not happy with her at the moment & she knows it. I NEED book 2!!

Alright Morgan Brookes- I see you 🥵😘
I wasn't sure I could enjoy a couple's dynamic as much as I did Jax and Cameron, but here we are.
It is really exciting to see Morgan in a deeper light after seeing him ever so briefly in The Ties That Bind Us duet. And Danda really peeled back his layers and let his true self shine on through. Lol. The loveable bad guy with another side that is smooth and golden. I love.
Kim is such a firecracker. Her feistiness and fire is no doubt some of the most appealing of her characteristics for me. And its no secret that a man like Morgan enjoys it as well. Lol. I just received the ARC for You Loved Me First and its safe to say that I NEEDED it after than ending.

I hate third act drama, but I absolutely loathe it when a book ends in third act drama, just so a sequel can be published to resolve it. If the ending hadn't pissed me off so bad, I'd have given this three stars - for a book with a shirtless dude on the cover, this wasn't half bad.

The plot was very predictable. The story was quite hallmark, yet I was invested. Wish the author had committed to making the h more than a whitewashed biracial girl. She didn't even have "color". The only features that the author committed to was her corkscrew curls and thick thighs. She didn't even speak Portuguese. Very disappointing.

This. Is. Gold. I am truly lost for words with Danda. She nailed it as usual. She is such an amazing author. I know when I’m needing an escape from my reality her books definitely do the job. This new one “You Broke Me First” honestly has me lost for words. From start to finish I was on edge never wanting to put this book down. Definitely a new favorite of mine! Morgan and Kim have this amazing push and pull between them. I love Kimberly and how tough she is but such a sweetheart with such a big heart and Morgan is this sweet caring man who wants to please everyone and they just know how to bring out what’s needed in one another throughout their relationship. I needed this read during a difficult time. Let me just toss out there Danda doesn’t skip a beat when it comes to her steamy scenes... Phew! 🥵🔥talk about spicey! Warning ⚠️ get yourself a fan because your going to need it while reading this steamy romance! ⚠️ Im living for this series right now!

Kim and Morgan are my new favorite book couple I absolutely love him he is everything! Kim makes me mad because I would kill for Morgan 😂😂. Danda K understood the assignment! Hands down she is brilliant! Where to even start?! I was on the edge of my seat more than once with this page turner. This book has it all. Love, hate, laughter, tears, suspense, and a heaping scoop of steam. I thought I was prepared for the roller-coaster of Morgan and Kim... Man, was I wrong! These two keep you guessing as they play a constant game of tug and pull, trying to figure out the storm they've landed themselves in.Danda has an incredible way of bringing the pages to life. You feel what each character feels. Even though you want to strangle them at times, mostly because they make irrational decisions based on their one perspective, you root for them.Loved, loved, loved this book! That's not to mention we also get some scenes with our beloved characters from 'The Ties That Bind Us.'If you've read the Ties Duet, you know Danda loves to leave us with a cliffhanger. This one didn't fail to have me basically throwing my phone at the wall when I finished it. All I can say is I need book 2 asap! ❤️

Morgan and Kim's turn to have their story is finally here...and wow, wow, wow! I have decided that they are my favourites so far! Kimberley is a girl who has had her fair share of hard knocks, hurt and loneliness and she believes deep down that she's destined to be on her own. That slowly begins to change day by day when Morgan buries himself into her life,and doesn't let go, but make no mistake, Morgan himself had his own hang ups,his own fears,and the way Danda has played this first part of the duet is incredible, because it keeps you on the edge of your "kindle seat" lol,thinking "will they, won't they" and the hotness? Perfection! The kink? On fire!!
Like I said, this is part 1 of a duet, and I can't wait to see what happens, because Danda??? That ending Omg!!! Just phenomenal...Million stars!!

Well danda k completely outdid her self with this book!!! This is currently a stand alone book but follow up is coming and OMG THIS ONE IS STEAMY 🔥 🔥 you will also be absolutely in love with the absolute god that is Morgan, and the bad ass queen that is Kim's story. Even the coldest hearts can be thawed by the right man
DONT WANT TO GIVE ANY SPOILERS but that ending broke me, full on ripped my heart from my chest and stomped all over it yet I can't help wanting to read this book again and again

What happens when opposites attract? Undeniable chemistry!
I love how fiercely independent and feisty Kim is. I love how Morgan drops his mask and can be himself for Kim. And I adore their banter and chemistry.
Can they overcome their pasts, trust issues, and meddling parents? I sure hope so! You Broke Me First ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to dive into You Loved Me First.
As always, Danda K’s writing is engaging, the plot keeps me hooked and makes me stay up way past my bedtime to keep reading, and the spice is 🔥! The plot twist (and cliffhanger) left me asking WTAF?!? Even the prologue came hard right out of the gate!

I’m the storm and this anomaly of a man is the eye of it—luring me calmly toward the center as my common sense, self preservation, and voice of reason spins around me like the chaos of a twister.” Morgan was definitely a favorite side character in the ties that bind us duet. So I absolutely loved seeing him again and getting his story. We learned so much about him that we didn’t know and made me fall in love with him even more. We also meet Kim, his love interest. Kim is a total independent badass chick that knows what she wants and goes for it. And on one fateful night when their paths cross, she decides it’s Morgan who she wants. Problem is giving each other fake names is all fun and games until it isn’t. This duet was absolutely stunning and I loved learning so much about both of these characters grew and developed. These two books will break you and put you back together at the same time. “Dreams can be forgotten, but you never forget your nightmares.”

Problem is giving each other fake names is all fun and games until it isn’t. This duet was absolutely stunning and I loved learning so much about both of these characters grew and developed. These two books will break you and put you back together at the same time. “Dreams can be forgotten, but you never forget your nightmares.”

Hot New Duet!

One of my favorite things to read about is a couple's connection in a story and boy, did Danda K know how to write that! Again! We meet our characters, Morgan and Kim, in her debut duet, The Ties That Bind Us, and just when I thought I already loved them, she writes a story about them that makes me love them even more.
Morgan is the rich guy that has that side to him that not many unsuspecting people would expect from him, and Kim is the girl not to be messed with. They are Rich boy and Savage girl.
There is an insane amount of push and pull that’ll have you wanting to pull your hair out. They keep trying to fight against the inevitable, mainly Kim honestly, and we all know how that works out in the end. These two are hot together. Morgan likes to dominate, and Kim doesn’t like to be controlled, so seeing the development of the trust growing between them was everything, since you knew there was finally some change. I’m not saying why, but I loved seeing Kim connect with Morgan’s brother. Those moments were so special.
Danda K is always able to deliver when it comes to incredible angst, chemistry, and humor. She knows when to keep things light and when to keep things heavy. I knew the built up to the cliffhanger was gonna do me in, but goddamn, was it painful to bear. I never know what to expect and I just love how I’m always on my toes.
I couldn’t have loved the beginning to this duet anymore, especially when seeing moments with Jax and Cameron from the first duet. If you're looking for a flirty banterish romance that’ll hit you in your feels, this is the book!

cliffhanger worth the wait
This is the first book book by Danda that I read and I must confess, what got my attention first was the cover 🤤 boy oh boy! Is that model hot! 🔥
Any ways, I’m so glad I decided to read! Morgan and Kimberly are amazing 💚
Morgan is a 23 yo rich boy from Williamsburg in NY and Kimberly is a 21 year old girl that works at B&N from Coney Island. While Morgan is a genius with numbers and has a great job as the CFO in a law firm, Kim barely makes ends meet between paying her bills and taking care of her grandma.
One faithful Halloween night they meet at a party and everything changes! They don’t believe in relationships, they don’t do “steady”, so a one night stand it is! Except there’s a cosmic connection between them and Morgan wants to explore it further. Kim’s heart is too damaged to trust him and gives him the wrong number. A while later they meet again and more lies are said, but at the same time both are falling for each other… hard!
This book is a cliffhanger and ahhhh!! All the feels! Morgan is my type of book boyfriend. Hot, smart, attentive, invested 💚 Kim has some work to do to catch up 💚 I love their dynamic, as a couple they’re fun and hot and so much trouble!
I love Morgan’s brother Daniel, he’s has a special part in this story. Same as Stella, Kim’s grandma. The group of friends dynamics are pretty cool too! My favorite part is when they finally give in to their feelings and TRUST each other implicitly 💚 goals right there, my friends! 💚

You Broke Me First by Danda K is book one in The Savage Love Duet. I’m already a fan of the way this author writes so when I saw there was a duet that was a spin off to the Ties that Bind, I couldn’t wait to get my eyes on it. So I would personally check out those books as well. But this duet (book 1 and 2) can be read without the other books it takes place in an interconnected world. I will give a heads up that this book does end in a cliffhanger. When I say this book hooked me within the first few chapters would be an understatement. I devoured this read, I couldn’t stop reading it. Also it touches on topics of mental illness and as someone that struggles with depression I really appreciated seeing the representation. But I will mention to check your warnings to be on the safe side. Have you seen the cover of the book, it’s great! But in all seriousness this book has an incredibly addictive plot and fantastic writing. These characters are amazing, I loved reading about Morgan and Kim. (Might have a soft spot for that name) I just loved the vibe of this overall dynamic. I also enjoyed how there was humor and tense moments woven throughout but they flowed so well. And then there’s the twists… this was so good. Like I said earlier in the review it ends in a cliffhanger so be prepared to get book two. Which I am off to go read now. Highly recommend this book.

Holy shit! I thought the first two books were good of this interconnected world but, I think I am officially in love with Morgan and Kimberly’s story. Kim is a little spit fire/take no shit for anybody bad ass with a barrier around her heart completely loaded with sarcasm, wit and denial. Morgan is your rich boy with one hell of a heart and a very dirty/naughty mind. He is a wealthy guy but he is more focused on making a name for himself outside of his family and to be completely independent; however he as one rule when it comes to interests in women and it is very simple, no attachments…. Of course I until one Halloween night when he meets his match and everything changes. Our Savage girl and Rich boy have some serious thick sexual tension and a roller coaster from that point on challenging one another out of their safety nets (I love me some Morgan). However as all duets go….there is a cliff hanger… and damn it had my jaw dropped to the floor… Our amazing author could not have picked a better title because this one broke me and I am anxiously awaiting for part two!!! I need it now!!

Okay I have to confess… I have had this book for months and I have been afraid to read it. Afraid because I know how amazing this author is and how she sucks you into this world so deep you can’t even imagine leaving. Then the bomb goes off and everything is shattered and you’re left with tears, aching heart and gasping for breath. How did I know this would happen? Because in the debut duet of this phenomenal world she did just that!
So I thought I would wait until book two was out and I wouldn’t have to suffer. Well, I gave in and now I am dying as I wait for book two.
Danda K has a talent for building such a realistic world that you absolutely want to be in. You fall in love with the characters and you cry for them, you cheer for them, you swoon for them and then you pick up the shattered pieces and pray they go back together.
We get an introduction to Morgan and Kim in the first duet. Their story is pure fire!! I could not stop reading this book and I absolutely can not wait for the second part.
It’s safe to say I will never look at pancakes the same way again!! Sooooo good!

They end up sleeping together but the FMC catches the MMC in a lie, and she has major trust issues from her past, so this doesn’t sit well with her. When leaving for the night, he asks for her number and she gives him the wrong one thinking that will be the last time she ever sees him.
Little do they both know, their paths were always going to collide. Unbeknownst to them, his best friend is with one of her new friends. Aside from that, the MMC intentionally seeks her out remembering something she told him that night about the route she travels home.
She agrees to go on a date, but still has a huge wall up and he’s never had a relationship either so this is a challenge for both of them. His parents are also absolutely horrible people as well, which proves to be a barrier in their relationship, especially at the end.
This is book one of a duet. Honestly this is one of the best books I’ve read this year if not the best. The writing is absolutely amazing. The character development is outstanding. The spice is good. I laughed. I cried. Every single feel. This book is a must read.

Where to even start?! I was on the edge of my seat more than once with this page turner. This book has it all. Love, hate, laughter, tears, suspense, and a heaping scoop of steam. I thought I was prepared for the roller-coaster of Morgan and Kim... Man, was I wrong! These two keep you guessing as they play a constant game of tug and pull, trying to figure out the storm they've landed themselves in.
Danda has an incredible way of bringing the pages to life. You feel what each character feels. Even though you want to strangle them at times, mostly because they make irrational decisions based on their one perspective, you root for them.
Loved, loved, loved this book! That's not to mention we also get some scenes with our beloved characters from 'The Ties That Bind Us.'
If you've read the Ties Duet, you know Danda loves to leave us with a cliffhanger. This one didn't fail to have me basically throwing my phone at the wall when I finished it. All I can say is I need book 2 asap!

Kimberly the FMC she is feisty and loyalty is important to her. Trusting doesn’t come easy for her and she has built the biggest wall ever around her feelings. But can Morgan change her mind?

Kim and Morgan. A savage girl and a rich boy? What could go wrong? Right… Right. They have both infuriated me so much during this book! What could have been solved with a simple conversation almost always ended up in a huge blow out, but I was HERE for it! The trials they went through for each other was plenty! Him breaking down her walls wasn’t easy and her letting him into her own little world was even harder. Their push and pull game had me on the edge of my seat till the bitter bloody end!!!! The feelings that I felt reading this story can’t be compared! Holy crap! I CANNOT wait until book 2 comes out!!!! GIVE ME MORE SAVAGE GIRL AND RICH BOY!!! Well done Danda! Thank you for creating these incredibly flawed characters! I resonate with Kim so much!

Coming from The Ties That Binds Us to enjoy Morgan’s and Kim’s perspective took me a bit by surprise despite knowing a bit of the characters. It was lovely to get to know them more and it’s always interesting how everything is connected in their universe. Especially because it’s containing mirrored events and while in Ties you have Jax and Cam telling their story, here you get a different view on the scenarios.
I enjoyed reading You Broke Me First Part 1 a lot and can’t wait to read the next part. You could say that I’m thirsty for answers.
