Their plans to survive the end of humanity were meticulous. Thorough. Flawed.

They landed back on Earth hundreds of years after their expected return, and now the planet they once called home is unrecognizable. Warring tribes threaten their very survival and members of Sierra team and Dr. David Anderson must work with their now-sentient AI to find a way to live peacefully with the survivors of the African facility.

But a greater threat than the power struggle between humans presses in on them, and they must choose sides to protect themselves from the terrifying plague sweeping over the continent during darkness.

They must find a way. They must survive the Swarm.

Devon is from the UK, having lived in many places until finally settling in the Midlands. His career in public services started in his teens and has provided a wealth of experiences, both good and some very bad, which form the basis of the book ideas that cause regular insomnia.

He first started reading for fun as an adult, having tried his hardest to avoid anything resembling academia growing up, and at that point the world became a far bigger place. He has been reading, at least one book at a time, ever since.

His debut works, the After It Happened series, (Survival, Humanity, Society) were published in April 2016 followed by Hope (July 2016) and Sanctuary (December 2016). The first part of the series concluded with the release of Rebellion which was published in June 2017.

Storming high into the charts with the first books of the After It Happened series, Devon launched into the top 10 sellers listings in the UK, Australia, Canada and the US, and he made the decision to write full time shortly after the launch of Hope.

Devon’s self-published beginnings caused a stir in the publishing world, and resulted in contracts with Podium Publishing for Audible, narrated by R.C. Bray (The Martian, Expeditionary Force, Arisen), before a publishing deal for kindle and paperbacks with Vulpine Press.

Further works have seen the start of a multi-author series, sci-fi/post-apocalyptic cross genre, futuristic dystopian and alternative history zombie apocalypse. Spin-off books from the After It Happened world have been announced for 2018.

Great continuation!
Im really glad i found this series. I ended up enjoying it so much more than i expected. The authors obviously vibe really well together because the book is seemless and flows really well. The characters are great and in this book we get up close and personal with several of them as the plot progresses. I will say that some of the "Tanaka" scenes got kina brutal and rapey which i really didnt enjoy. Kina brought me down and gave me some hella bad vibes. I dont think it was necessary to be that detailed about the mans depravity. We already hated him and wanted him to die you dont have to go into all the sick details of what this punk does to the women in his camp. In the end i guess there was some poetic justice but id have preferred it not be included at all. Im kina sensitive about that kina stuff so maybe it wont bother everyone like it did me but besides that i really loved the plot and characters. Really cool idea with the swarm and the AI is awesome. Worth a listen✊️

This book was easier to read than the previous one. Most of the worldbuilding had already been done so the plot focused more on the new life on Earth and the various challenges.

The pacing was ok, although it did slow down every now and then.

Annie is a good character. She may be a computer programme that managed to evolve and change her own programming, but she's also an important part of the team and plays a key role in their survival.

The fighting scenes were interesting and I liked that Harrison and his people were open to peace. They worked well with everyone from the ARC.

The ending was good and I look forward to reading the next book.

Action packed

I must say that these authors work very well together. Returning to Earth and not finding it how they thought it would be is only the beginning of problems faced by the sleeping survivors. Put together with warring factions and crazy huge insects-mechanical or of natural origin, you'll findnout as you read. The tribes or colonies they interact with, hidden spaces--there is just so much going on in this book, it's mind-boggling how they kept it all straight. And now a new fact-finding mission? I couldn't put this book down til I read the whole thing. It moves fast!

Ich fühlte mich immer wieder an Terry Pratchett erinnert: "[The first version of the novel] was read by Terry Pratchett, aged forty-three, who said: hang on. I wrote that in the days when I thought fantasy was all battles and kings. Now I’m inclined to think that the real concerns of fantasy ought to be about not having battles, and doing without kings."

New Earth sērijas otrā grāmata Swarm problēmsituācijas sižets pamatā saistīts ar Tanakas pēcteču agresivitāti. Bet, par laimi, labajiem tēliem no ARC, kādā brīdī no Tanakām tieši to pārvaldības stila dēļ atšķēlusies grupa, Three Hills, kuras šībrīža līderi Harisons un Torija ir izteikti pretimnākošaki pārmaiņām. Pat, ja sākotnēji cilvēki kaut kur kosmosā, kur nu vēl kosmosa stacijā ir saglabājušies to atmiņās vien kā leģendām apvīts mīts.

I found the first book was too slow with little character development. However, I thought the story line had promise and gave the second book a chance. This book was a great improvement. There is a lot of action, you get to know the main characters, and it's an original story. I like the few strong female characters and Annie the evolving computer system created by the also evolving computer nerd.

It just sucks you in!

Like most books, if not all of them, I've read by Devon Ford this just sucked me right in. It's more like experiencing the story than reading it! The storyline, the characters, even the 'fiction' of the science comes alive to be freakishly believable.

Truly, truly enjoyable! I am so glad book 3 is available!!

When i picked up #1 as a casual read I had no idea this'd be a fast paced futuristic sci-fi story that'd have me glued to it till the end of #2. Now I cant wait to read what Annie finds out at Echo site in #3!!

Good second book

So I’m giving this a marginal 5 starts because I enjoyed it but I thought this book was called the swarm … it was still focused on human conflict. Which I enjoyed and thought interesting. Liked how the women got some revenge on Tanaka

Contrary to book one , book two lost the real science faction and excitement we have experienced in one.
The writers were looking for invents to extend the pages and make it a book .
I am sorry for this , damaging the good book made earlier .

The second novel in the series, it's a noticeable improvement from the first (which was pretty good). A lot of action and a fair amount of human interaction. I'm looking forward to the third in the series.

Here be dragons.

They are like bearded dragons. So cute, no unless a twenty foot one is cute.
Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action.
I look forward to the next one.
