The Loft: Settling In is the exciting return to the original Music of the Soul world of finding love that is right in front of you with exciting and dynamic characters. It follows Zoey's twins, Maxine and Teddy as they move out of the family home and into a place of their own... the loft apartment that their aunt, Eve, left behind when she moved to London to follow a love of her own.
Following in her mother and aunt's footsteps from the Pike series, Max takes her turn at matchmaking, or meddling as everyone else dubs it. Max uses a party in the loft to bring two people, Tracy and Alice, together who have been admiring each other from afar.
But she's continually distracted in a way she's never experienced before, when a punk rock princess, cosplaying as an elf from her favorite book series steps unexpectedly into her life, making Maxine question everything she ever thought she knew about her own life.
(The Loft series is set in the same world as Music of the Soul, London Harmony, Flotilla, Unleashed, and the Pike and can be read as a standalone book.)

This was a decent story which I enjoyed reading, but it really was a bit too sweet. The ‘cuteness’ was nearly overwhelming at times, or maybe I’m just getting old and grumpy. If possible I would have given 3.5 stars.
Erik Schubach's Music Of The Soul books and expanded universe have been a real favorite of mine. And now we're on to the next generation. Maxine and Teddy have been wonderful side characters as they've grown up. Being underfoot in multiple books. Now, they're moving out of the nest and into their aunt Eve's old apartment. Growing up and doing the whole college thing is only a part of their busy lives. Because they are their mother's children, and of course this is a MOTS book, there must be MEDDELING! With a dash of cosplay, a generous helping of scattered appearances from many of the cast of the other books, and a house warming party, this new chapter in this long running, and wide spreading series is a great read.
Back to one of my favorite universes! My adventures with this author started with the Music of the Soul series, so I am very glad to be revisiting some of our oldest and dearest friends. It is always nice to see the ever-growing relationships between the cast of wonderful characters. As always, I look forward to more.
Another refreshing visit to always intriguing Music of the Soul universe. A fun glimpse into the lives of such wonderful people. I can never get enough.
