“I’m not good-looking enough. I’m a prop, not the catch on the team. Everyone thinks we’re the dumb guys on the squad. The loosies and the guys in the back get the beautiful women.” Ryan Foster knew the score. He, therefore, had no expectations when he met trauma doctor, Margaret Blake. Margaret always made it clear how she felt about rugby, a sport she considered only being favoured by dumb and ignorant hooligans. When she met Ryan, the almost chemical attraction surprised her as she felt towards the large prop with his bushy beard and long hair. One evening in his company convinced Margaret that there was more to Ryan than meets the eye and gave in to temptation. A severe concussion puts Ryan's rugby career in jeopardy, and with it, his future with Margaret. Could Margaret convince Ryan (and herself), that they might have a future? And even if they did, would they be able to overcome their pasts to find their own Happy Ever After?

We're back in SA with The Buffalo's Rugby Club & it's Bulky Hot Men 😘 It's the Bulky Quiet one Ryan Foster whose in his final year on the Squad, when he meets a stranger to himself sitting with the Club's Doc Peter & he finds out whom she is & that is Trauma Doc Margaret whom is the eldest Sister to the clubs nurturist Hannah whom we've met prior & their younger sister Emma whom opened up a new Florist.
Both Margaret & Ryan seems like they've hit it off at Chris & Riley's wedding even though Maggie hates & doesn't trust Rugby Players at all since her Uni year in Edinburgh. Though things start off well then goes cold within their first 24 hrs before it goes up again even more so after she opens up to Ryan about her past, then it goes down again 😔 But things go worse for them when she was going back on shift & the 1st patient she comes across is Ryan on a gurney 🤕👩🏻⚕️& he blames her though she has no clue why. And yes I do start to weep 😢a little during this period until Maggie was ready to open up & tell more to Ryan & Ryan like wise & he opens up & talks about his past which is the first time he's opened up. Beautiful ❤️
This is the first book I have read by Francine Beaton. I know nothing about rugby, but do love sports romances. But rugby is not what this book is about. It is first and foremost a love story, one about the glory of two beautifully broken people finding one another. Ryan has a tragic past and he has hidden himself away by throwing himself into his rugby career and trying to make himself inconspicuous with his long hair and bushy beard. Margaret is an ER doctor with her own painful past. When Ryan and Maggie lock eyes at a wedding at the rugby club, both are blown away by the instant chemistry each feels. However, the pain from their pasts colours all of their experiences and actions and leads to a huge misunderstanding. But while beautifully broken, Maggie and Ryan are also both strong - and strong-willed - and so are the intense feelings between them.
This book is a journey and not all of it into light and romance. But it is a beautiful love story about two people who never thought they would be able to move beyond the pain of the past and find happiness in the present.

Margaret and Ryan pulled me in. I had so much fun getting to know these two. Each with their own hang ups yet that sizzling chemistry could never be denied.
Seeing the ghosts that haunt get put back into the past where it won't mess up their future and how descriptive Francine brought them and their emotions and situations to life. I would have no problem recommending this book. 5 stars all day. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

A sports romance that's touching, entertaining with likable characters, and a plot that was well-written. Ryan and Margaret are two broken souls that have let their bad experiences mold their lives but the instant attraction they feel at a wedding may change them.

Great characters pulled me into this story immediately. I loved how the author made them feel real with realistic characteristics. Their emotions literally jumped out at me and made me feel the same as though I was a character in the story. The chemistry between the two main characters was believable and captivating. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Opposites do attract. In the case of Ryan and Margaret, you sometimes have to fight very hard to make it work. I'm enjoying this series of hunky guys with soft hearts and the strong women they attract. This is an easy read that tugs at your heart.
