Again, the sight of that smile did insane things to me. It was the kind of rush I only usually got playing football. Making a great catch. Scoring a touchdown. And now, I could add making Faith Pierson smile to the list.
”I love you too,” I said.
His eyes warmed. “Took you long enough to admit it.”
“Someone has to keep you on your toes, you know.”
Dominic slid his hand along the side of my face until his fingers wove through my hair. “I always want it to be you, sunshine.”
“And when Faith's mouth curved into a pleased smile, I knew how completely and utterly wrecked I would be if she ever left me.”
❝I missed you,❞ I admitted. ❝You were gone for two days, and I missed you.❞
❝Why do you say it like it’s a bad thing?❞
❝It’s not, I guess.❞
One, the sport is football.
✎ I prefer hockey romances.
Two, we are TOLD the heroine is sunshine incarnate.
✎ I'd rather be shown that.
Three, the hero is of course the one exception to the heroine's "rules."
✎ I think we can all agree that story beat is very overdone.
Four, Dominic (H) and Faith (h) have an anonymous online friendship.
✎ You guys already know what's gonna happen.
❝With all due respect, Mr. Pierson, and while I apologize for what happened at the ball, you’re not the person I need to convince. I know I should be with Faith, and so does she. I’m just … I’m trying to prove worthy of the fact that she does believe it.❞
“There wasn’t a single rulebook I wouldn’t light in flames just to make space for him in my life.”

“This man, with his dangerous kisses and overwhelming heart, had somehow turned out to be exactly what I wanted. And not just wanted, but what I needed.”
