Chump to Champ is an in depth training manual for learning proper boxing moves, increasing mental acuity, finding the proper equipment, and creating a more healthy lifestyle. The idea of the author, in my opinion, is for the reader to use these lessons to become healthier and stronger through these techniques. The reader can use these lessons as a basis for starting boxing as a sport or for exercise. The Author does an excellent job at showcasing former boxers to explain their strengths and weaknesses. This training manual is a wonderful fitness guide for any individual. The fact that you are learning self-defense makes this an awesome guide for women and children. Highly recommended.

Highly informative

Having been a boxing fan for many years I had always fancied giving it a go myself, but I never knew if I had it in me. This book provides all the information that anybody, male or female, would need to take up the sport. With detailed breakdowns of all the different aspects of the 'sweet science' of boxing, nutritional information and useful exercises, this book has everything a novice needs. Coupled with interesting pieces of the history and notable characters in the sport, it is a great companion book for anyone looking to take up boxing.

INCREDIBLE

I doubted the title at first. It sounds like when you want to teach someone how to dance or beat the drum through a book. But, What did I know.

I went through and saw things. I don't like fights. I don't fight, but for defense. If you want to box some, go through. If you want to give someone an upper cut that will make his family say: Aoh! Go through this book.

Ding, ding, round 1!

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I did boxing a few years back and I didn't know some of this stuff. This has gave me the itch to start it all up again but mainly for fitness.
Very well detailed and easy to understand. A great book for a new beginner or even the professional and I'll definitely be checking out the circuit training as it's been a while since I did that too. Great book, well done.

Learn from an expert

This how-to book is very informative and easy to follow. Even as someone who has no ideas about boxing, I was able to learn from this. It’s well-written and even includes external links to back up Hudson’s claims.

I would definitely recommend this.

This is an excellent guide not only for physical fitness but for mental fitness.

When many people think of boxing, they think of fighting. But you don't need to fight to box. It's one of the most physically demanding - and rewarding - workouts. I took boxing lessons in a gym years ago and I regret stopping it.

I'm a very firm believer in "sound mind, sound body." As someone who spends about 90% of his day in front of a computer, it's very important to me to have a physical regimen that helps keep my body in shape.

I'm really happy I found this book because it's a very informative guide on how to use boxing for physical training. Quite simply, I don't have time to go to a gym. I can follow Andrew Hudson's step-by-step process and train every morning. From stances to punch forms and more, Hudson covers it all with great descriptions and photos. I wouldn't want to get into the ring with him!

I highly recommend this book for anybody looking to learn how to box or an amazingly effective workout.

From various styles of boxing to all the actions in boxing are well described. He has also written a bit about legendary boxers personal life which I quite enjoyed a lot

First up let me tell you something I am not a boxing fan nor does boxing interest me in any way shape or form, what I will say however is this. This book was extremely informative filled with all sorts of information regarding boxers and how they start from nothing to working their way up to the top. I would highly recommend it to all fans of boxing myself as it is a great read and the author shows that he is passionate about this subject. 5/5 stars from me.

I know very little about boxing as it has never been a sport I was particularly interested in. However, you don't have to be a boxing fan to appreciate this book. While it is primarily about the discipline of boxing, it can be used by people who wish to improve their health and fitness.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and the diet and fitness tips the author gives are excellent and well worth reading.

Super informative and great guide to boxing

I am not a boxer, but I am interested in to. I have taking the kickboxing and boxing exercise classes at the gym but those classes cannot give what this book can! I can tell that this author is an expert on boxing, from form to benefits to diet and more. The author n it only knows how to box and teach but appears dedicated in being truly accurate. This is an easy read for anyone who wants to get into boxing, know more about it, and even increase their skills if already at a more advanced level. The book gives off the vibe of overall fitness, healthy, and lifestyle. I liked that the author included a bibliography at the end. I feel it makes it more trustworthy and can really sense the dedication to this topic and helping others! Boxing is a tough sport and the tips in this book are well worth acknowledging and applying to the practice

I enjoyed reading From Chump to Champ, having dabbled in boxing myself for exercise. The instructions are clear and easy to visualize, so even if you have never done it before you can do it. Maybe a few more pictures might be an added bonus. I enjoyed the stories linking certain styles and moves to famous boxers and how it either helped them or when they failed. It makes it all very relatable. I think this book is perfect for anyone thinking about giving boxing a go, or if you already doing it. The writer's enthusiasm and motivation shines throughout the whole book and makes it a pleasure to read!

Back in the day, boxing was a bit of a closed society. You had to be a boxer, really. The gyms were just rough-as-guts sweat barns and trainers were hard-bitten old men who kept their secrets close to their chests. I'm very glad that all this has changed and the noble art is now available to all.
This book is an excellent manual as to how to train in the 'sweet science', useful especially for the newbie, but even an old hack like myself can learn a thing or two.
The author certainly has a thorough going knowledge of his beloved boxing and his natural enthusiasm bubbles over to the reader. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this book, I didn’t know what to expect, however I have always enjoyed the sport of boxing therefore I thought I would give it a read. I am glad I did because it is more than just a book on how to box. There are chapters on fitness, diet, stretching exercises along with a good summary at the end of each chapter. It is a book that can be used for any of the mentioned in isolation. Definitely a book that I will not archive and use for future reference. I would recommend this book highly,

Such a good read! Boxing is such an intense sport, that there are some people out there that have no clue about it. Help people know that if they want to be a good boxer that they need to be the best that they can ever be. What I like about the book is when the author talks about former boxers. Explaining the pros and cons of each of them. It was easy to follow, and understanding. Someone who wants to know more about boxing then I recommend this box to all! Good job to the author!

With everything going on in the world today I decided to look into defending myself but didn't want to spend a fortune on classes. Came across this read and glad I did! Now I have the first basic moves and lessons on boxing, which will come helpful I'm sure if and when needed. Thanks for this inexpensive way to learn self defense. Great for those trying to make a career out of Boxing as well, per the obvious lol! Excellent read.
