Is it wrong to fall in love with your kidnapper? *This is an Extra plus-length novel, over 120,000 words long* Dr. Roberta McClelland--Bobbi to her friends--is a Xeno-Cultural Anthropologist living her lifelong dream of studying an alien species. On the peaceful planet of Avria Pentaura, she spends her days tending crops and learning her new people's customs. But her peace doesn't last long--she doesn't count on raiders from the neighboring planet, Saurous, coming to visit and she especially doesn't expect to be kidnapped and held captive by a rogue Kindred named Dragon.
Dragon isn't native to Saurous--a planet inhabited by lizard people called Saurians. His parents were killed when he was little and he has been adopted into the Crimson Blades crime family. As a Hybrid--a mix of two different types of Kindred--he isn't sure of his heritage. He only knows that his mother was a Vision Kindred, but his father's origins and the other half of his own nature are a mystery to him.
The big Hybrid has never met a female like Bobbi before and the minute he sees her, he knows he has to have her. The problem is, his sadistic Saurian brother, Zerlix, wants her too. Dragon can think of only one way to protect the curvy little female--he must marry her and keep her with him always.
But Bobbi is a modern woman and she's not interested in marrying her kidnapper, thank you very much. She's determined to run away no matter how hot her Kindred captor is and she's going to give the evil Zerlix the slip too. But when she gets into trouble in the notorious Blue Light District, can Dragon find her in time to rescue her? And will happen when the hidden half of his heritage comes out? Read Hidden Rage to find out!
Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
I struggled with this rating. I wanted to give it a 3 star rating because truly I liked the characters. Bobbi is a Xeno-Cultural Anthropologist. She studies alien cultures the Kindred come in contact with. As a Cultural Anthropologist myself I found this character fascinating. Then the whole story arc of concerning female rights within a culture basically showing our bias because even today the majority of our societies believe or promote gender equality between males and females but upon closer inspection or during a deep dive there are still concrete battle lines being drawn. So the book had a lot going for it in regards to story and mental depth. What really struck me and caused the low rating is something that triggered me. It was supposed to be seen as good but I saw it as manipulative and damaging. During intimate moments between Dragon and Bobbi, Dragon uses coercion to get what he wants. He said he would never force himself on a female but this is just as bad. Using the pretext of "helping" or marking her to keep her safe, which is only logical Mr. Spock, is very manipulative and technically is forcing himself on her when she said she didn't want for anything to happen. Yes she was attracted to him. Yes he was possessive. Yet she was kidnapped. She wasn't free. Sure he was keeping her safe but he also used coercion, passive aggressive behavior to get what he wanted all while Bobbi used her training as an Anthropologist and tried to use cultural relativism to explain away everything. In other words, he was raised this way so she can't fault him for it. The story was nice. I love the Kindred books and Evangeline Anderson books in general but this time I was triggered and it ruined my reading experience.
Ok! Another Kindred book so u kinda know what to expect. Forced proximity. Curvy heroine. A potion/poison that require our heroine to cum… or she will…. DIE!! 😆
What is different… our kindred hero was raised in a severely sexist society so.. he is … kinda sexist. He is a shifter we all see coming .. except… the characters.
Is it a good book? As good as… the other 50 in the series. You know if u like these or not! You don’t need me to tell u!
Now. Virgin rating…. Is he a virgin..?
Well… he has never successfully had intercourse before because… he is not compatible with the species he lives with. So… what do u think? 2 sexual attempts with non compatible females? I know our heroine thinks he is… “the thought that she was his first….”
I will rate him as a virgin. But… it is really up to u.
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 2/5 Innocence in losing it: 4/5 Build up to losing it: 5/5 Hotness of losing it: 4/5 Busted touching himself: no POV of losing it: female
Dr. Roberta (Bobbie) McClelland is a Xeno-Cultural Anthropologist, an occupation that exists in our own scientific community by those who discover tribes and groups of people who have remained unknown to the rest of the world. She has chosen to visit only peaceful planets and report on their cultures. Currently she is studying the culture of a bird people.
In the same solar system another planet exists that is definitely not peaceful. Dragon is a Kindred Hybrid living on this violent planet. His parents were killed when he was very young, and he was adopted by one of the native clans, a family of lizard people. He knows his mother was a Vision Kindred, but he doesn’t remember his father’s heritage. His biggest problem is the son of those who adopted him, a selfish and sadistic male, Zerlix.
Dragon, aware his brother Zerlix has noticed Bobbie during a raid, decides the only way to save her is to kidnap her himself. The society he brings her to is completely run by males. Unlike the Kindred he would have been if his parent hadn’t died, he has been raised in the Saurian culture of male domination. Women there have no rights and can make no decisions for themselves.
Multiple times Ms. Anderson brings up the idea of Nature vs Nurture. Nature is the type of person you are such as Native American vs first-generation immigrant. In this case, is Dragon more Kindred or Saurian because he was born a Kindred. Nurture is how you were raised such as being raised by loving parents vs being raised by uncaring parents. Is Dragon going to react because of his upbringing as a Saurian or because he is a Kindred? That’s very simplified, but Ms. Anderson addresses this problem very well. This conflict within Dragon builds the action in this novel as we see in contrasting him to his Saurian parents and companions. Ms. Anderson also gives the reader the steamy scenes and angst between the two of them we all love. Plus we constantly face the problem of Zerlix, the cruel son.
I really enjoyed how Ms. Anderson handled the problem of a Kindred raised in a non-Kindred society. Our literature is filled with heroes such as Tarzan, a British lord raised by apes, or Mowgli, the Indian boy from the Jungle Book who is raised by wolves. Hidden Rage looks at the same idea.
Hidden Rage is a novel worth reading more than once. Not only does it have the stamp of a book by Evangeline Anderson, but it also is just a plain good read!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my opinion.
Simply wonderful extended read, full of wonderful characters and great plot Dr Roberta “Bobbi” has spent her life studying alien species, learning all about customs and beliefs and also about anything that may be used to help people from various colonies to enable them to live happy, healthy fulfilled lives. Then one day her life changes dramatically when she finds herself being kidnapped and held captive by a rogue Kindred who is known as Dragon.
Dragon is from a planet where the Saurians live and these are a specialised species in the fact they are a lizard people who have adapted over the generations so that they are able to live, thrive and survive on a planet with very hash living conditions and this has obviously changed their appearance and actual physical abilities.
This very large and extremely attractive hybrid Dragon has never come across a female such as Bobbi before and he cannot help but find her both fascinating and infuriating, she also is very attractive and he is drawn to her. His dragon is determined that they will protect her and the best way to achieve this is to make her his, to marry and mate her and spend the rest of their lives together.
She finds her feelings changing towards her kidnapper and also finds living among these generous and very different people to be something she has started to enjoy; she has started to get to know them and wants to help them if she is able.
A wonderful read, full of surprises. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Book 37 was an interesting Kindred book that revealed new worlds and new characters, both described in mesmerizing detail. Bobbi the heroine has a phd in anthropology, her specialty is studying beings and society from all over the universe. When jumps on the chance to study the people an avian like people on Avria Pentaura where she adapts herself to fit in as best she can. When the Saurians invade this peaceful planet Bobbi is kidnapped by Dragon. He is a hybrid Kindred who was adopted by the head of his clan on Saurous. When his not too nice, jealous, stepbrother Zerlix also wants to claim Bobbi, Dragon instinctually claims Bobbi so she is not subjected to his brother’s cruelty. The Saurians are a reptilian people and live with different rules on a hostile planet. Dragon finds the curvy human female beautiful, stubborn, feisty and is determined to protect her by mating with her. Zerlix is not deterred from this and is a constant threat to Bobbi.
Bobbi has other ideas. Even though Dragon is very handsome though she is aware this might be a touch of Stockholm syndrome. Her growing attraction with Dragon leads to some very steamy scenes as she comes to care for him. Dragon has to learn who he really is, about his kindred heritage although his upbringing by the Saurians was quite violent and brutal. Bobbi has to navigate this dangerous world, deal with her feelings for Dragon, and most important, has be rescued. This is a very exciting, heart wrenching and emotional, scary and dangerous, hot, adventure , roller coaster ride that was a great read.
This next installment of the Kindred Tales is about Bobbi, who is an anthropologist doctor studying the life on a different plant when she is unexpectedly kidnapped by Dragon, who kidnaps her to save her. Dragon was adopted into his family of Saurian, who are a reptile like species. Dragon has never seen another person like himself and he immediately feels a need to protect her and call her his. Bobbi is confused by her feelings for Dragon because she wants to be angry at him for kidnapping her, but his caring words and gentle touch make her care for him in return, however, she has no interest in living on the planet Saurous because women are treated as possessions and are supposed to care for the home and family, and Bobbi wants to pursue her career. Bobbi has a bit of an internal struggle over her feelings.
As always, with Ms. Anderson, we get to go on an adventure an see another species of beings, how they live, and their customs. I always enjoy the mental movie I get to see when I read on of her novels, and this one didn't disappoint. I really liked seeing how Dragon's character evolved and he found out where he was really from and discovered things about himself he didn't know. I love how the characters interacted with one another and how their love blossomed. I'm always a bit sad when the final page is read as I'd like to stay along for the ride a bit longer. Another fantastic read and I look forward to more!
Bobbi, an independent anthropologist whose love of studying beings from other worlds, travels from the Kindred Mothership to live amongst an avian type species learning about their beliefs and daily routines. While on planet Avria Pentaura, a hostile reptilian group from their home of Saurous arrives to cause upheaval while taking what they want. Dragon, a Hybrid Kindred who was orphaned while living on Saurous, was adopted into the Crimson Blades crime family as a young boy. He sees Bobbi and knowing she's in danger from his "older brother" Zerlix, claims her for himself and takes her to his family's compound on their planet. While strong feelings develop between them, there are many contrasting beliefs and customs which have no real room for compromise. Danger is a constant for Bobbi from the sadistic and jealous Zerlix. Can a true bond form between them while living in a hostile world that condones violence against females? When life altering lies are discovered, will strong hearts prevail or will violence take everything? This book is a riveting rock your world ride that you do not want to put down! Dr Roberta McClelland, or Bobbi for short believes herself to be a modern woman. Independent. Intelligent. Ready to travel the universe. She is proud of the remarkable work she has been able to conduct as a Xeno Cultural Anthropologist. That’s exactly what leads Bobbi into a nightmarish journey where she is thrown into a world that believes women are the exact opposite of what she believes and has fought hard to maintain for herself. Enter Dragon. Dragon lives Saurous, a planet inhabited by lizard people called Saurians. Dragon is a Hybrid Kindred. If his adopted father has any say in the matter, Dragon will never know his identity or the truth behind his birth parent’s deaths. Dragon is loyal to his adoptive family, believing that the Crimson Blades family is worthy of his loyalty, even if his adoptive brother is a jealous narcistic brat. I loved the inner turmoil that Bobby must manoeuvre through; does she have Stockholm syndrome, or has she fallen for her kidnapper? The chemistry between Dragon and Bobbi as they learn the truth of not only Dragon’s real identity, but the beast that lives within him. Yet another fantastic book from Evangeline Anderson. You are amazing lady!
I did enjoy this book. Don’t get me wrong. Buuut! There toward the late middle the heroine just kinda gave up and kept thinking “if we have sex I’m stuck here for the rest of my life” uhm… THAT pisses me off. Like you’re stuck and married a decent guy (just brainwashed) and if your rescue comes, you’re going to stay? No. Absolutely not. And I don’t care how much you love someone; if that had happened, she’d have been absolutely miserable. And what happens once they misery sets in? You start to loathe the cause of your misery… which would be… the brainwashed husband. It turned out (obviously) alright in the end, but I’m just saying from MY perspective, if it came down to it (and things hadn’t gone the way they did.) I would NOT have stayed on that planet with my mate. If he loves her (regardless of the matebond) he wouldn’t expect her to remain somewhere where she’s treated worse than dirt (again; regardless of love and a mate bond. That won’t survive in the end when only one person is happy.) he would have gone with her Ugh, yes… this got my back up and frustrations are high lol. Everything turned out alright in the end, but there were definitely parts that ticked me off, especially where I ranted lol
29%: Where can I find my own Dragon to kidnap me? 🤠🤠🤠
Book 90 of 2024!
Only Evangeline Anderson can write a 428-page book and have me not think that it was long. In fact, I was surprised when I got to page 200 as I realized I had actually read 200 pages. I love her books.
This one was very different than the other Kindred books. Roberta, Bobbie, is studying the culture of a bird-like species on another planet when she's captured by a Kindred living in a reptilian society. I found it interesting how Bobbi didn't like Dragon, the hero, at first as he had kidnapped her.
I loved Bobbie's friend, Keelah. I tagged this book as "virgin hero" because Dragon had never had sex with someone he was sexually (biologically) compatible with, so having sex with a warm, wet vagina was a new experience for him, lol.
I could never recommend this without content warnings, but it's still very good.
If you have any kind of sexual trauma, be EXTREMELY careful reading this or don't touch it at all. This book is not for the faint of heart.
It deals with heavy subjects like toxic societal norms and (a metric ton of) sexual assault. Those toxic norms result in an inherently toxic relationship. However, i truly did not expect all the issues with their relationship and the plot to be resolved so well.
I admit, after the first few chapters, I thought this was gonna be a hate read or dnf, but this really took so many turns. Every time I thought the FL was gonna be another "smart" woman, making very stupid decisions, she proved me wrong. This character was actually very capable of critical thinking and making a plan to achieve her goals. She was a bit more submissive than I could ever truly relate to, but I can't hate her. She's a good, well-rounded character.
In the end, she stands by her morals and her way of life. The ML actually grows and learns to respect that, therefore, being capable of truly loving her. That is what makes this a good book.
Bobbi is a researcher who is from Earth and has been living on the Kindred Mother Ship. She has asked Commander Sylvan to let her do research on another planet consisting of bird like creatures who are very primitive and peaceful. Having been there for a few months she has integrated into their routine and become friends with them. Unexpectedly a band of lizard men come to trade for the large eggs they sell when one of them, called Zerlix, takes a liking to her. When Dragon sees her, who happens to be a Hybrid Kindred who had been adopted by Zerlix's parents, he immediately claims her to protect her from his lizard brother who is a known sadist. Dragon kidnaps her and takes her back to the lizard planet to save her from Zerlix , his evil brother. This author's writing is amazing and so imaginative. You feel like you are right their and part of each adventure.
Enjoyable read. Hints of mafia life but not alot of details like other mobster books might give because it's also scifi/alien in nature. I actually pictured a different ending when Bobbi first meets his adopted mom but as things progress that idea goes right out the window. Had they stayed Dragon would've been named as the heir, killed his brother for obvious reasons, and then killed his father in an honor fight/vengeance match/strongest leads the family fight. Of course he shifts into a dragon (I pictured a wingless dragon idk why) and gets all the respect of his adoptive people cuz he is a legend come to life. Changes happen in that culture and they have a HEA with visits to the Mothership of Bobby's work. But the ending Evangeline wrote was much better. Sometimes when outsiders changing a society to their standards the results aren't as long lived.
Will I ever tire of these Kindred stories....I doubt it. This author has the craziest imagination. You know there will be a happy ever after but then again the things that happen make you doubt it while your heart is racing. Bobbi is an independent woman, her job involves studying other cultures and what better than another planet. Dragon was an orphan taken in by a different culture, he's not one of them but what is he? Could he be dangerous or save Bobbi's life? The action and drama in this one is crazy. Great story, I loved it.
Hidden Rage featured another Hybrid Kindred but one who had been completely separated from his people. Bobbi, because of her work exploring and getting to know different cultures and species, was a perfect match for Dragon, a Kindred warrior torn away from everything familiar and “adopted” into a family of Saurian mobsters. I loved how assertive Bobbi was - none of the stuttering timidity from her - and how well she and Dragon fit together. I quite enjoyed this story even though it was a long one.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobooks of this title. (Goodfm)
Raised by another species, the idea of nature versus nurtur could be questioned. The species of reptilian mafia origins have no regard for their female counterparts. Unlike the Kindred, who hold their females to the highest regard. So, anyone would understand Dragon's confused outlook. However, his actions all seem towards a natural instinct to protect. This is again an excellent example of thinking outside the box, for a back story, to the normal boy meets girl scenarios.
Let’s be honest. Any book by Evangeline Anderson was going to be amazing. But this book!!!! Phenomenal!!! This gave me a whole new storyline. Unexpected but fun. Kindred are always so nice and this gave me nice but determined. While it did remind me of some of the older ones, I loved it and read it like my first book by her. Overall, a MUST read!

As always a another amazing Kindred read. I loved the mob theme and the new world and culture which is always interesting in entertaining. With the add it action intrigue, and of course steamy encounters which definitely made for a helluva read can't wait for the next book in the series. I received a free copy via Booksprout and as always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.
I have never read a book where the characters got on my damn nerves! The FMC Bobbi was super aggravating, the whole family except Dragon just ignored how much of a spoiled brat Zerlix was and he was awful! The book felt like the movie Groundhogs Day because so much of the same dialog was on repeat. The story of what happened to Dragon was very predictable! Dragon was one of the better characters and I'm glad he got to know more about the Kindred.
Bobbi and Dragon were 2 characters have a long way before they can have a happy ending. Love the new world and culture Evangeline Anderson continue to create within the kindred universe. There action and the love scenes were super steamy and hot. I really enjoyed how the story plot progress i never got bored i could not stop reading this book. Another great edition to the series.
Look, I’m not gonna bore you with a bunch of paragraphs describing the book to you. I’m just going to point out the obvious, and then tell you to read it for yourself. Ready??
He’s a Kindred named Dragon. She’s a feisty redhead with a PhD.
You have GOT to read this book. Yes, you do. Yes, you do.
He was raised by the same people who killed his parents. A race that is violent and where women are seen as nothing more than items. For a kindred raised in a society the opposite of kindred he still feels the need to protect one human female. But to do that he will have to take her. A great addition to the kindred series.
Dragon can't deny that protective Kindred nature, even though he was raised by some despicable people. Bobbi doesn't make it easy either, but these 2 can overcome it.....or can they??? The planet is a hostile place that is horrible to women but I loved everything about this story and you will too
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a strange "clan" that Dragon was raised with, what a spoiled rotten little brother, just wanted to slap him so many times. Thought for sure that she would have gotten him a checee (not spelled correctly) prior to leaving. Wht does Dragon get to stay aboard the mothership when the others needed to go back to Earth? Will they get to meet along with their Drakes?
This book kept me reading with the unique storyline. Adopted by Saurions, Dragon never really bonded with his Saurion brother and spent his time trying to rein Zerlix's sadistic tendencies in.
This story of Bobbi and Dragon is filled with action, adventure, and intrigue. The interaction and chemistry between them is great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book, as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Another amazing read from Evangeline, the changes that Dragon goes through for the women he loves is breathtakingly beautiful to read.I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did, couldn't put it down.
I really loved Bobbi and Dragons dynamic and chemistry. This story was sooo good. It had a little bit of everything. Great world building I really liked the mafia-esk theme of the story. As always another great read in the series and I can't wait for the next!
