An enslaved queen. A king who longs for peace. Death, destruction, and despair stalk them both.
A wizard queen is captured by a madman who seeks world dominance. Enslaved by magical means, she is forced to wield her magic against her own people. Can she escape her invisible bonds, or will her wizardom fall to the might of the lord enchanter and his golem army?
In another nation, the last remaining wizard is expunged, freeing the Ungifted from wizard rule for the first time in Millennia. While the god king brings the promise of peace, such was not meant to be. The advent of the Drow has come. The world trembles as this new enemy rises, intent on conquering all of mankind.
I love fantasy, adventure, and magic. More than that, I adore my readers.
My books are written to entertain -- fantasy adventures filled with compelling characters, spectacular magic, thrilling action, constant intrigue, and a sense of discovery. I equate them to the "Marvel Movie" version of fiction, intended to be a fun escape.
I would love to have you join me and my quirky characters for one outrageous adventure after another. With over a million published words, my author journey has just begun.
Best wishes, Jeff

A must anticipated book in this series. After book 4, I was dying to discover the next series of events and oh my word was I in for a treat! Although I was also plunged into despair, as sooo many of my favourite characters are suddenly dead! Ok, so maybe not suddenly, but with each impending demise, I found myself begging, NOOOOOO, please Jeff, not him, not her, please please let them survive! But, alas....my words fell on deaf ears and a little piece of my heart dies with them. I find myself consoling myself, doing a quick calculation of who is still alive, and breath a little easier. What an amazing plot, the twists and events TOTALLY unpredictable, I was hard pressed to put the book down for even a second. I absolutely love the characters, Jace and Narine, Rindle, Harlequin and Crusser and the whole bang shoot! They are all so different, each so pertinent to the storyline and each a delight in their own way, Harley with her snarky remarks, the stoic Crusser, the misguided Tempest, to name a few. And Priella, well my goodness, my heart goes out to her. First she loses her daughter, then her husband, then she is trapped into servitude by Ghenton, that she cannot escape from, and forced to do abominable deeds at his behest. As for Reagor, I'm not sure if he's the luckiest man or simply the most unlucky. I love the flow of events, I love how the characters evolve and grow, how many of them question if what they are doing is right or not. Emotions are rife, the scene is set for the Drows to take over and bring a new god to life. There are so many aspects to this tale, so much drama, it is an absolute dream to read. Nothing is as it seems, no one is as they appear on the surface, so many different layers make this a wonderful, compelling, exciting read. Who will prevail, who will be lost and who will triumph will soon be revealed as I look forward to the final installment of this lavish series, which promises to be spectacular
Gods have always featured in the lives of humans so when a void was created due to the vanquishing of the Dark Lord by our team of heroes, when all gods left the world this void needed to be filled. Xavan, the Drow singer knew this and hatched his schemes, first off killing Chandan, and taking over the Order of Sol. The Drow had intentions of becoming the Gods people followed. Narine, Jace, Crusser and Harlequin were adamant they would thwart all of Xavan's plans, however these were many and the Drow were putting their chosen followers in place all over the realm, whilst ridding themselves of all wizards. Wow so much happened in this book, this series is breath taking with Jace and Narine jumping through portals and Ghenton marching with his automaton army from one wizardom to another feeling so powerful and as though no one could stop his mad dash for power. I really loved the action but am so sad to see so many of our old heroes and group of friends dying. This book is quite brutal but then so is life! I am dying to read the last book in this captivating series, wondering who in the end will be left standing, if any. Kohanek has done an R. R. Martin on us in this book.
Wow, so much death and destruction in one sitting, while so fantastically action packed and fast paced, In this book Jeffrey L.Kohanek rips your heart out and hands it to you on a plate. There is few comedic moments that stops you breaking down altogether. I really love this series, down to last book in the series and it really has been an epic adventure, Jeff truly is a master storyteller. If you love epic adventures, then this series has everything a fantasy fan would love to read. As the story continues the Drow and the Order of Sol are intent on becoming the new gods and rule the realm and inslave humanity like they did in the past, But to do so with their scheming they must get rid of all wizardkind. Killing and destroying anyone who gets in their way. Our heroes Jace, Narine and the gang continue to try save the wizardoms from insane old men in a thrilling and terrifying action packed edge of the seat story. Full of creative plots and twists and turns that will leave you reeling. With power struggles, treachery, shifting loyalties, sorrow, loss, courage and friendships that you will love. Travis Baldree continues to give an epic preformence, can't wait for A Sundered Realm, highly recommend...😁🔥😪
This book is awesome... talk about action packed! So much happened in this installment. Things concluded, questions answered, and of course more cliff hangers! What will happen next? I for one am looking forward to the next book. Great work on this one Jeff, keep up the good work!
Queen Priella is captured by a crazy Wizard who forces her to use her magic against her own people and her own Army. If she doesn’t do what he says she is forced to endure untold pain from the magical device he has placed on her head. Elsewhere Nadine and company are continuing on there quest to try to save the realm. This series is wonderfully imaginative. I can’t wait to the next in the series.
I continue to stay up way too late reading this series because I find it so interesting but this is the first time I have found myself crying when some of my favorite characters died. It may be that I have become a little too invested in them. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who likes a good fantasy but also STRONGLY recommend that you start at the beginning or you will be lost and will miss out on a lot of the twists in the plot.
This series keeps getting better, although it also keeps getting darker. The scrapes the characters found themselves in in this book were stranger and more desperate than any of their adventures have been thus far.
There were quite a few new characters introduced to the story, and while that's gutsy to do in book five, it absolutely worked. My favorite was Ekaji, a Zialan warrior, who volunteered to be Reagor's bodyguard. Reagor's storyline has been one of my favorites, and he had a prominent role in this book, but bringing in a character from his past really made him seem like an actual person rather than the larger-than-life role he has to play as god and a king.
Rindle is still hanging out with Jace and Narine, and the three of them are guaranteed fun. There is a scene in which Narine transforms herself into an old hag and pranks quite a few people. I do blame Jace, but I think he's still having the time of his life, so the marriage is going great!
Ghenton continues his mad march across the land. He seems unstoppable and is the major villain of this portion of the story. Well, one of them. Xavan's plans are beginning to come to fruition as well. And there are a lot of deaths, old friends and new, and a few enemies, but the world seems more and more doomed as the saga continues. I have no idea how Jeff will resolve all of the loose ends with only one book left in the series, but I've been surprised every step of the way thus far, and expect I will be again.
I edited this book, which I suppose makes me biased, but I also thought it was a fantastic addition to the Wizardom saga and look forward to reading the next book.
As much as I hated the loss of some of these characters, I -loved- this book.
A lot is going on within these pages, with plenty of POVs and intricately woven plotlines. So many ambitious players are engaged in this game for power, with kingdoms and wizardoms falling and rising as the story progresses. And it gets darker, the further along we are taken on this wild ride. It's hard to summarise the plot without spoilers, so I'll leave it by saying this is leading up to a big showdown, and I am honestly not sure how this will end. I'm scared for the remaining characters.
Like its predecessors, Advent of the Drow is a fast-paced, action-packed, and riveting read. The stakes are sky-high, the humour is on point, and the feels... Don't even get me started. I'm heartbroken, so there.
New and old, all the characters have a way of nestling themselves into your heart, and you can't help but live and breathe alongside them through their struggles and hardships. It'll take me a while to recover from this one.
Note: As I listened to the audiobook, it has to be said what a tremendous narrator Travis Baldree is. I feel like I'm huddling up in a warm blanket on a cold winter night every time I start a book narrated by him. Brilliant!
From a master storyteller, a gripping and fascinating story! The Drow and the Order of Sol are intent on becoming the new gods and rule the realm as they did in ages past! But first they must get rid of all wizards. Killing or controlling anyone who opposes them.... So we continue following Jace, Narine and their comrades in a thrilling and terrifying action packed edge of your seat page turner. With a creative plot full of twists and turns that will leave you reeling. Expect the unexpected, power struggles, treachery, shifting loyalties with uneasy alliances , intrigue, assassins, pain, sorrow, loss, courage, friendship and a bit of humor here and there. The author kept me captivated, shredded my emotions and broke my heart, yet I continue to want more, yes more! This book is so riveting from the first page to the last page you will stay up all night reading it. It is so cleverly written and I can't wait for the next book!!!
Xavan, a Drow, has set his plan in motion with many working parts. This book furthers the plot with the intervention of all the wonderful main characters. The story weaves in and out of the various scenarios with Lord Ghenton and his metal army, Tranadal, Dai-Seryn, and others serving Xavan work to take over the various kingdoms by threat and force. Can Jace and Narine work with Xionne to get world-saving help from her brother, Grodan? Can Priella stop Ghenton's invasion of lands and escape his clutches? Will Brogan, Blythe, Crusser, and Harlequin aid their friends, the elves and druids? Where does King Reagor fit in? Some character stories end and some are ongoing. I'm not sure where Tor's story fits in as it seemed a bit out of place but I'm sure it will have a point. I love wondering how it will come together in the final book!
This deserves more than 5 stars. If you have not started this series, please do. I also advise you to go audible. The cast of characters in this whole series are just amazing. Each story just gets better and better. The narrator is AMAZING at giving each one a voice. The series will just draw you in and not let go. This one really made me sad. Without giving anything away, lets just say sacrifice has a whole other meaning to me now. I loved this one so much and I am so sad there is only 1 more to go. Sword & Sorcery at it's best. Twists that will blow your mind. LOVED it.
Another cracking read from the pen of Jeffrey. I’ll not go into details as others have done but simply to say this is a cracking continuation of this fantasy series. Not everyone’s favorite character survives but the story one again is totally captivating. All the books are such page turners I have no hesitation in recommending these. Well done Jeff.
As with this whole series this story continues to hold the reader in its grip. Frequent readers will see the formula used to write this novel as it is followed throughout. Not a bad thing, as it is a welcome change from strict adherence seen in so many.
