Reese sees his soul. Leo sees her potential. Sparks ignite, but the office taboo stands in their way… Reese didn’t realize the EA position she’d applied for would put her working directly under the freaking CEO. Leo is on all the hot lists from brilliant billionaire to beautiful body, and she’s determined not to let their age gap or the office rumors of being hired as eye candy ruin her dream job. There’s a catch, though. Reese has always been able to see inside a person’s trauma, and Leo is full of it. Leo knows the company board will force him to step down if they knew the way he reacted every time Reese walked into a room. Workplace romances are forbidden, and he refuses to put Reese at risk of a scandal, but as an approaching industry event forces them to spend more time together, the line blurs dangerously until it breaks altogether—and almost breaks his desk in the thrilling heat of the moment. But secrets can’t last. As the event begins, their necessary trip to Vegas leaves Reese wanting more, but then Leo finds out who she really the daughter of his biggest competitor and a threat to everything he’s worked towards. She’d meant to heal his past trauma, not deepen it, and now she has to untangle his pain to convince him she was never anything but his. Untangled is the first in a family saga of sequentially connected fairytale retellings starring siblings with mysterious insights. If you want to know what happens in Vegas (and find out what Reese catches Leo doing in the shower) then start reading this spicy office romance now!
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle, Lin always loved stories in any style and pursued a degree in film production, but she later decided she’d rather write books than screenplays. She currently lives in Luxembourg and is learning to speak very poor French (one of three official languages—and no, English isn’t one of them). The local history, castles, and cultures are enchanting, but her greatest pleasure is obsessing over a fandom whenever the opportunity arises. Her oddball brain has always struggled to connect with contemporary books, so she continues to create the queer, adventurous, romantic fantasies that she’s always wanted. Born with more heart than sense, Lin will always find ways to help readers feel seen and loved because the best found families are often hiding between the pages.
Untangled was a fun, steamy combination of contemporary workplace romance and fantasy/magical themes. Leo and Reese are both great characters whose sexy romance is full of heart, making it easy to root for them. An all-around delightful read.
This is a mature and subtle take on Rapunzel. There are the underlying themes from Rapunzel combined with a steamy corporate romance. A small dose of magic completes the package.
When Lin Lustig and I set out to write Untangled, we knew we were writing the first book in the Dispelled Lineage Series, but we had no idea just how much fun this book would be to write. For me, at least, it felt like removing all of my self-limiters when it came to plot, steam, and fun, and just writing Reese from the heart. She's balsy and self-aware, despite her ultra-sheltered upbringing, and that made her a blast to put on paper. She also has a preternatural ability to say just the right (or, in some cased, exactly the wrong) thing due to her "trauma sight." Meanwhile, Leo is in desperate need of letting loose.
I think you can see where this is going... ;)
Neither Lin nor I had ever written anything quite like Untangled, and I hope you can feel the fun we had with it while you read.
