If I were to walk past this book at a bookstore or library, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up based on how the cover looked. But, as they say, “Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover.” This book was a real page turner. I love how Cassie used her psychic abilities for the good and to help others. This book has a great story line. Good character development. Quick and short read.

About the Author:
Karen is a multi-genre author and says she is working her way through as many different types as she can. "I've written two romantic/suspense novels and my last book was a thriller, but it is in my short story collections that I'm able to play with the different genres."

However, as an avid reader, she admits to not being as adventurous. I prefer my stories to have a little romance in them, but then romance on its own is not enough. "Throw in some crime, thriller or something interesting into the plot, I will jump on it!"

Besides reading and writing, Karen is an avid book blogger. She reviews every book she reads, both on her website as well as Goodreads and Amazon and you will often find her browsing the shelves of Goodreads to see what other people are reading and doing.

Apart from books, she loves cross stitching and the fact she is 'retired' now and can do whatever she wants!

Karen lives on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey off the North Wales coast. She makes time to walk every day enjoying both the countryside and the ocean.

When I read that this was crime/murder and a clairvoyant, I was hooked. I liked the premise of the story, it kept me intrigued all the way through. I would have liked a little bit more show and not tell at the beginning to make me warm and love Cassie more, but all in all, it was an interesting quick read and I will read book 2.

A woman has been murdered on the Heath and another has gone missing! With the killer on the loose and no clues leading to him, this case is a challenge for Detective Newbold. He approaches his twin sister Cassie for her help. Cassie or Cassidy is a girl with supernatural powers, she is what in layman terms people call a psychic but she is not just a "psychic", she is a clairvoyant empath.

With her extraordinary gifts and due to a chance encounter, Cassie soon identifies the killer but the challenges do not end here. There is a girl to be rescued and charges to be linked to the killer by finding proper evidence. Will Cassie and Detective Newbold succeed?

This short book is a great read if you are looking for some good thriller. I expected it to be just a murder mystery where the protagonist tries to find the killer but when the killer was identified in first few pages, I wondered what was left for the rest of the story! I was amused to see how the storyline progressed and it became a fight to rescue Chantelle on time.

I also enjoyed the chemistry between Cassie and Pedro (while it lasted lol). This was a quick read for me, I finished it in no time and all credit for it goes to the author as she has created a gripping plot by making it more than plain old murder mystery. I just wished there were some major twists and turns, the shock factor was lacking but what I really liked was the fast pace and how engaging it was to read.

I received chapters of this book for free in exchange for my review.

This is a paranormal, crime, love story of a British clairvoyant twin sister and police officer brother working together to solve violent crimes. While the clairvoyant heroine’s comments and actions are annoying at first, her compassion and experiences grows on you. The magical thinking, good versus evil, and flat, static characters were unappealing to me. That said, if this is your genre… I’ll sure you’ll love it. It would make an easy, fast read if you’re looking for time time to kill. I think there’s potential for the story with character development and creation of subplots.

I had the pleasure of editing this book. I found that Karen J. Mossman, as a developing author, uses a mix of classical writing styles with modern - starting with a setup to the story with tantalizing bits to intrigue you into what's to come. She, also, has a lovely blend of detail with a desire of leaving enough of the tale to the reader's imagination to make it a personal experience.

The story crescendos as the excitement amps up with the growth of the tale and case (as a thriller should). I'm not a big fan of the romance with Pedro, but it has an interesting link with the overall plot and Chantelle's investigation. The affects this relationship has on Cassie, herself, is the most valuable aspect - more so than Pedro's familial link to his sister.

I love the historical references from the region as well as the bond between Cassie & Seb. I think this is a great lead into this series and jumping point for these characters to be introduced. I am excited to see how they mature and what new adventures Mrs. Mossman takes them on next!

Cassidy is a clairvoyant empath, who helps out at the local police station. When a few young ladies go missing she is drawn into the murky world of evil and murder. This was a short read but very enjoyable. I liked the main character Cassie and thought her relationship with her twin brother was conveyed very well. It’s a well written book with great description and a storyline that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I find the subject of ESP fascinating and I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Killer on the Heath (The Cassidy Newbold, Clairvoyant Collection Book 1)
by Karen J. Mossman
A new collection of stories from a supernatural author. This book mixes Clairvoyancy and the police work needed to find and recover women who are kidnapped, abused and killed. The connections between the two being twins is a new twist. The darkness and struggle to find the current victim alive is very comprehensible. The characters were believable and the nature of the psychic abilities is handled with remarkable understanding.

I love paranormal stories and adding a thriller with a clairvoyant and empathic character?  I couldn't wait to read it.

What I liked - After the 8th chapter the story came alive.  I was urging Cassie on as she tried locating Chantelle.  Hurry, Hurry, the poor girl might be dead.  I also loved the special ability that popped up between Cassie and her twin brother, Seb.  I can't wait to see how that develops in the next story.

What I didn't like - It took 9 chapters to get into the story.  The first few weren't bad, but they were slow.  And the relationship between Pedro and Cassie drug the pace down, a lot.  It wasn't badly written, in fact, Karen does a great job at writing relationships.  But, this one wasn't necessary to the plot.  In my opinion, anyway.  You may love it.

In summary, The Killer on the Heath hit all the tropes at the end, I couldn't put it down after the 8th chapter, and I love Cassie and Seb's characters.  I can't wait to read more.  I recommend it and give it 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this story about Cassie, a clairvoyant who gets roped into solving a crime by her twin brother, Seb, a detective. Two women have gone missing locally and one body has been found. It was interesting to have both sides of the investigation: what Cassie senses or 'sees' vs what Seb discovers as a detective. I enjoyed the relationship between them -it had an interesting dynamic. The story focuses on Seb's efforts to find missing Chantelle, and Cassie being distracted by an attraction to the missing woman's brother. I was gripped until the end and my only complaint is how short the book is because I wanted more! But as it is part of a collection, I am looking forward to reading more about Cassie in Seb!

A test for Cassidy’s clairvoyant and empathic skills began with a case of a murdered woman. It was interesting taking the step-by-step journey in this power. I’ve always been keen on people with these skills.

It gets pretty eerie when she gets really close to the killer and almost becomes a victim herself. It would seem the case was closed, but then she gets another to find a missing sister for a strange man.

This was an overall well-read and enticing read. Sometimes the diary narrative was lagging and the story didn’t always focus on the hunt for a killer or kidnapper. In fact, most of the time Cassidy and her police brother were trying to make the charges stick for a killer.

The read was not quite what I was expecting, but it was a fairly nice read.
