Finding a Bride

Rate this book
A jilted bride. A sexy lawyer. A past full of secrets. What could go wrong?

Caitlyn is planning the perfect life with the perfect man. Soon, she'll be married to one of Goulburn's most public figures and nothing will get in her way. Not even the obnoxious lawyer she keeps running into.

But when her engagement falls through and she finds herself questioning everything she once knew to be true, she has no choice but to turn to that obnoxious, sexy, headstrong lawyer for help. Their lives are a lot more intertwined than she first thought, and falling in love is not the only thing she's in danger of.

Axel’s worked hard for everything in his life and being a lawyer is no exception. He’s after one thing—justice—and nothing will stop him on his mission to bring Andy Graeme down. Not even the pompous bride-to-be who keeps getting in his head.

But when he finds her brokenhearted and alone, he knows something's not right. As secrets reveal themselves and his past comes back to haunt him, he discovers they're both in much more danger than he first thought. But by then, they're already in too deep.

He will do everything in his power to keep Caitlyn safe.

Even if it kills him.

Well, this book was one hell of a surprise.
A sweet romance that pulls you in and keeps you wanting more, only to then have your heart racing because of all the twists and turns.

The way the author entwines Axel’s life with Caitlyn’s is fantastic!
I loved how I was totally thrown off from anything that I may have been expecting.
I always like to read books where the main characters have banter. And they had it in this one. They argued, they laughed, they joked about with one another... it was all so damn good.

This was my first read by R. J. Groves, and it is definitely not my last.
A well deserved 5 stars for a rollercoaster romance and a thrilling ride.

Forbidden romance, danger, and a mysterious past that make for a fantastic read!

Well this book was a surprise! At the start I expected a somewhat complicated romance between Caitlyn and Axel as she leaves her fiancée right before the wedding, and for it to mostly be a tug-of-war between her old life and this man that threw her off her game. What I did not expect was the complexity of Axel’s involvement with people she knew and what he learns that affects her and many others. In short, it quickly became a perilous balancing act of taking down a very bad man while they fight their feelings for each other.

And I freaking loved it. The foundation of forbidden romance was a perfect backdrop for the danger aspect. The layering of Axel’s own past over the already tense events also added mystery and doubt without being distracting. And I didn’t see the ending coming at all. I ate this book up within the span of a day and am on to the next in the series. Highly recommend!

This was a really good, quick read. It starts out really strong with an introduction of characters. The chemistry builds really quickly and I loved the banter between Axel and Caitlyn. For such a quick read, the Criminal, almost suspense-like aspect was really great. It's an all-around really good read and I definitely look forward to book #2.

I loved this book! I inhaled it in about two days—the chemistry between the two main characters was absolutely sizzling and the plot was fascinating and well-plotted as well. I could see the potential for the next books in the series and I can't wait to read them, especially if they include Tash and Liam!
I love that it's set in Australia because I've read so many romance books like this one that are set in the US or Europe or somewhere else in the world and it's great to finally read something written by an Australian author and set here too! I do feel, however, that the setting of Goulburn could have been a little clearer as without the specific mention throughout the book of it being set there, there was no way for a reader who has been to Goulburn or lived there to know concretely that that's where it's set. Personally, I don't know a whole lot of Goulburn, but I do wonder if there are places that feature in the story that are unique to Goulburn—why is the book set here?
Absolutely loved it though and that wasn't a huge deal to me and didn't prevent me from enjoying the book in the slightest!

Couldn’t Put It Down

I really loved the characters. I had an instant connection with each one almost immediately. I didn’t want it to end.

I enjoyed this book. I love the chemistry between Axel and Caitlyn and the twist in the story. But what happened to high almighty parents of Caitlyn?
