Great concept and simple to understand. I will absolutely be using this for my campus outreach ministry team. I would critique, however, that the examples of these roles in action don’t mirror being a “co-journey” but instead like a signpost on a journey. That’s okay. Both are important. But I would suggests joining someone along in their journey for months rather than moments. The mentor role hits some of this, but it is the shortest section of the book and most vague. Overall, fantastic book and highly recommend. Just have those critiques.
I have read this book twice now - once fast and once slow. It is great material to refresh my aging mind about how to approach those who do not have a relationship with God and might want one. It is challenging for me to remember how I came by the faith I have and what has helped me along the way to make it strong.
4.5 // A quick, helpful guide for Christians looking to grow in walking alongside others in their spiritual journeys. Keith Davy provides simple categories and tools for the reader while acknowledging that each relationship will look different. This is a resource I will return to often. One section did read like an advertisement for all Cru publications, but it was part of a list of resources, and they are certainly helpful.
Great little book to help you think about how to share your faith well. Includes devotions and activities that really help you focus and reflect on evangelism opportunities in your own life.
I have conflicting feelings about this book. I felt like the author was making evangelism sound so easy by sharing all of his success stories and failing to mention any times where it didn’t work out in his favor. This is no easy task and the author liked to pretend that it was which really frustrated me. Regarding the lessons themselves, while I thought some of the points he made were a bit off from my personal beliefs he definitely made a lot of great statements that are excellent food for thought. This book definitely helped me feel inspired to bring up religious views more often in conversation with my friends and also to be more forward with my faith, allowing people to see it as a significant part of my life, rather than being quiet about it like I typically am. Overall, there were a lot of good things about this book but also a lot of things that I didn’t connect with or agree with, leaving me feeling very conflicted about how I feel about it.
