What I wanted out of life. Sibylla Matilde

Sibylla Matilde grew up on the back of a horse exploring in the mountain valleys of Southwest Montana. She attended a two-room schoolhouse 1st through 6th grade where she had same teacher the whole time. At the age of 12, Siby discovered historical romance, devouring the work of Jude Devereaux, Lisa Kleypas, and Karen Robards. She began writing in 2013 with her debut novel, Little Conversations, and self-published ten works over the next three years. She took a few years off to deal with life (it proved very difficult to move on from her Bangin’ Mofos…they were a blast to write), but is back at the keyboard with new steamy stories brewing in her naughty little brain.

Music is her emotional trigger. Growing up with a Wagnarian-opera-loving mother, Sibylla loves music that digs deep into her soul and covers her with goosebumps. The soundtrack to her life includes different genres and generations, but her favorites include Thirty Seconds to Mars (she’s a bit obsessive about Jared Leto, actually), Kings of Leon, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, and many other artists and bands. Her inspiration playlists on Spotify truly drive her writing, and she loves to share her eclectic taste with anyone who will listen.

Siby strives to write books that make the reader bask in the sweet glow of new love, burn hot with a passionate intensity, and day drink from gut-wrenching heartache. Her characters are not world-famous rock stars or billionaires, rather every-day small-town people experiencing their own extraordinary romantic adventures in the Rocky Mountains she calls home. Siby loves to hear from fans and can be reached at Siby@SibyllaMatilde.com.

I haven’t really read much over the past year, and since the pandemic started, I have been listening to mostly romcoms. On a personal level, I love Siby, and since my friends do too, they read The Naughty Pine before I did, and recommended it highly to me.

Därah is a single mom with a teenaged daughter who she co-parents with her ex-husband. She doesn’t have much of a social life, so when her friend invites her out to a private club, despite her nerves, Därah accepts. What she didn’t expect was that the Master Rogue her friend had been going on and on about would be the guy to make her knees weak with want.

I found Därah to be so, so relatable. A little on the heavier side, her insecurities almost seemed insurmountable, but Rogue was so patient and wonderful, he certainly helped with that.
“I’m tired of waiting, Där. I’m done.”
I looked back at him with a frown. “Tired of waiting for what?”
“For you to figure your shit out. To admit that you need something more.”
“Like what?” I scoffed.
“Discipline,” he replied with a raised eyebrow.
“You need to come back to The Naughty Pine.”

Midway through reading The Naughty Pine, the audiobook came out, so I switched over. After a moment of shock that Därah didn’t sound how I pictured, I actually loved the audio narration. The insecurities and hesitation were brought beautifully to life.

I’m afraid to go into more depth because I really don’t want to spoil this for anyone.

Likes:
•Relatable, older, heavier heroine.
•She’s a single mom that still doesn’t have her shit together.
•I really liked her daughter.
•Holy cow, Siby can write some HOT sex!
•This was so much more than a BDSM romance.
•Great for someone new to this type of romance.
•Brought a ton of emotion that I wasn’t expecting.

Dislikes:
•Her relationship and co-parenting with her ex seemed a little lacking. I am disappointed he let his kid live the way they did.

The Narration:
Overall I loved the narration. At first, she seemed a little melancholy/sad, but then she just seemed real, and I loved it. I hope to hear more from this narrator.

The Down & Dirty:
It’s been a long time since I read a BDSM romance. I expected The Naughty Pine by Sibylla Matilde to be all kinky sex and not much depth, but I was so, so wrong. As someone who struggles with very low self-esteem, Därah was so relatable, and a lot of the scenes really struck home. It was not only hot as hell but an emotional roller coaster. I hope Siby is back writing full time because I look forward to more from this talented writer.

This story took me on an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. The characters were so relatable and I truly fell in love with hope and the hopelessness they were dealing with.
The Naughty Pine was a splendid and delicious story that reminds us that miscommunication and misunderstanding can lead us to a lifetime of sorrow, sadness and unfulfilled love and happiness.
Sibylla wrote a beautiful tale of love that is lost and then found, soulmates who come together and finally become whole. This authors words resonated with me deeply and captured the full circle of the couples passion.
I highly recommend this story!

Darah and her daughter, Madison, are just trying to get through the teen years. Darah is a numbers gal and always has been. But co-parenting with her ex, Jace, is proving more and more difficult. When a co-worker, and kind of her only friend, asks Darah to come to a club with her, Darah thinks to herself, “What could it hurt?” What Darah doesn’t expect is to see her ex, Jace, there too.

Jace knows that he screwed up royally years ago, when Madison was a baby. Leaving was his biggest regret. But how do you go back on something that has defined your relationship?

As Darah and Jace learn whether or not they can trust each other, you get to learn more about their history and you truly start to root for their future. Relationships are complex and these two have more baggage than most. Throw in a teenage daughter and figuring out their roles within their new dynamic, and you get a whole lot of chemistry and love.

This was a fun read and while there were times you wanted to shake both main characters, you’ll learn to love them.

There are parts of this book which I did really enjoy, and yet I was frustrated at times with too many issues being mentioned repeatedly but not delved into more deeply. Whilst I get that much is obvious to us, and yet not to Darah, I really couldn't accept that in 14 years she had never thought beyond her very limited view. She has a good friend in Lissa, is intelligent enough to have a decent job, and had a second failed marriage where she clearly compared the poor guy unfavourably to Jace all along.

Why does she live in a rented house that is described more or less like a hovel? Jace has always paid his way for their daughter and she is working? I get that it made the difference between their two houses more impressive, but what dad wants his daughter to live like that most of the time? These and other little things bothered me, and stopped me being able to fully engage in the story.

I thought the Naughty Pine evenings were done really well, and the fact that she gained in confidence even though she felt insecure about her figure etc, I think was carefully written. Her fear, her courage, her need to have faith was matched by his patience and his pushing. It felt cruel that he wasn't more open about how different it was with her compared to others as inevitably she would think about it – but it made some of the scenes more intense because of it.

A good read which showed that it is not just the beautiful and wealthy that enjoy getting dressed up on a Saturday evening and being kinky!

This book was just meh for me. I don't read a lot of M/F lately. The blurb interested me, but I couldn't really get into the storyline or the characters. I found myself skimming the book to get to the Naughty Pine nights because those parts held my interest, other than that, this book wasn't my cup of tea.

Därah is exhausted with existing. She's thirty-three and a single mother to a teenage daughter. Two failed marriages behind her, working too hard and with zero social life, she lets a work colleague take her to a kink club on the fourteenth anniversary of her first divorce. She's terrified by what she might discover inside The Naughty Pine, and also inside herself, but in all her wild imaginings, she never expected to see Jace, her first husband, the father of her child, and the love of her life. I want to say this straight off. The Naughty Pine is one of the best second chance trope romance novels there is, and hands down the best book that features BDSM I have ever read. Personally, even though I've read a lot of BDSM books in my romance reading career, it's not really my thing. I'm straighter than a plumb line and more vanilla than ice cream. I've never understood how someone could derive pleasure from being hurt, or by 'submitting' to someone else's 'dominance'. However Sibylla Matilde has shown me exactly why so many people love it, and I finally think I understand the basis of the culture and the practice. The Naughty Pine is a simply brilliant book in every way. Matilde's writing is measured, nuanced and mature. You know she is a master writer and story-teller and you are in safe hands. Her characters are brilliantly drawn, and Därah's insecurities were painfully like my own, so I understood her motivations and behaviour. And as for Jace... OMG OMG OMG! What a man!!! Holy guacamole I was sooooo in love with him. For someone who is the dominant in their kink play, Jace is the sweetest, most caring, most loving hero I think I've ever read. He is THE BEST! Swoon x a million... If you love BDSM books then you'll love The Naughty Pine. If you don't love them, then give this one a go and see if it changes your mind. And if you love small town, second chance romance novels that are simply unputdownable then you need to make this the next book you read.

Oh myyy, I’ve been DYING to get my hands on a new Sibylla Matilde book, it’s been so excruciatingly long since her last release. I can’t tell you how excited I was to finally have a new one sitting on my Kindle, waiting to be devoured. And, man, she delivered one again.

Sizzling, raw, deliciously steamy, and with a curvy heroine to boot! It’s beautifully, vividly written, and for once it’s not only the rich and powerful who get to enjoy the kinky depravity an exclusive club like the Naughty Pine offers, but people like you and me. Yes, please!

I loved so much about this book. I loved Darah and Jace – or rather, Chickadee and Rogue, as they call themselves in the club. I loved the care in which the author realistically portrayed the issues a newbie to the BDSM lifestyle is confronted with – safe words, limits and other negotiations essential of this lifestyle included. I loved the way in which Darah’s insecurities, her fear were handled, and how Jace patiently but insistently reacted to them. I loved the unexpected second chance aspect to the story, too, as well as the teenaged daughter thrown into the mix and complicating things further.

So, yeah, I loved this fun, sexy, exquisitely naughty type of read. That’s all I have to say. …well, apart from: Don’t you dare make us wait another 6 years for your next release, Ms. Matilde! You better not! Lol.

If you are the least bit curious about bdsm and the like, then you have to read this book! The story is about a monogomous couple, so no polyamory. This book is about Darah and Jace. They have different names at The Naughty Pine, Chickadee and Rogue. And I just wanted to say, I am that curvy girl who's looking to be loved, just like Darah. Got to love a story about us Rubenesque ladies. Matilde’s descriptions of the scenes Rogue and Chickadee perform are gold! When I was on chapter 14 I already wanted to read this book AGAIN! Rogue is just so dominant. So breath-takingly male. Matilde writes, "Oh, Lordy. Everything about him gave me butterflies in my vagina." AND IT DID! All I want is Rogue now. He has gone and ruined me for anyone else. While this may sound dramatic, you read it and find out for yourself. Okay, honey? Do it now. And, seriously, I'm going to reread it this weekend. I'm so glad Matilde is writing again. I'm putting in my request for a story about Master Louden. (insert sunglasses emoji) The Naughty Pine is delicious perfection. Since I can't rate it a bazillion stars, then 5 stars will have to do!

Spicy! Naughty at the Pine. That's what happens when shy, reserved Darah lets her bestie talk her into a walk on the wild side. Darah aka Chickadee isn't sure about the BDSM lifestyle but she's willing to get it a try. She encounters the deliciously dark Rogue, the Master of flogging. Whoops! He turns out to be her ex husband and the one that got away. Ooh, he's a sexy dominant that has her in sub space in no time. I loved him right from the start as he took control. Daran grew on me as the story progressed and she found her voice. The BDSM isn't too dark. Rogue is a terrific teacher as he leads Darah into his world and she gains confidence and puts some spice into her life. They take a sizzling journey as adults instead of the teens of the past. Such a sexy couple! This is a fantastic second chance romance with a panty melting Dom and his sweet little bird Sub. Worth the read! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

Wowza!!

The scenes in this book were tantalizing. I say this while I cursed the author for making me wait so dang long while simultaneously gorging on every word.

Jace was utter perfection and will forever be put on my self as top five best book boyfriends, hands down.

Därah’s desperation for something new and different is completely relatable to nearly every woman I know. Siby hit the nail on the head with her arc and Jace’s ability to bring her out of the shell he put her in.

But he was made to do the right thing, and he is going to fix what he broke, no question, no apology. He is just perfection. Thank you Sibylla for writing this book, and all the other amazing books you’re going to write!

Because I’m waiting for them! Chop chop!

I enjoyed this book. It was a fun read about two people who were very young when they first found each other. Even though they ended up divorced, they stayed close because of their daughter. Darah isn’t a confident woman and decides to visit a BDSM club one night with her friend. To her surprise, she runs into her ex-husband, Jace. I loved how the author showed communication is important in all relationships. If we don’t let others know what we want or are thinking, we can’t expect them to read our minds. Jace and Dar had to figure that was most of their problems while also having some amazing naughty sex. If you want a book that touches on the kinky but has a great storyline as well, then this one is for you.

This was an amazing book to read. Darah has had a hard life but she is determined to go to a club and le her hair down. Only when she gets there she meets Jace and things start to change for her. She has never ever experienced anything like this before and she is excited to be able to let her hair down and experience a new part of life.

Naughty and exciting

I have really missed Sibylla's style if writing, and this book takes it to a whole new level and did not disappoint.
Rogue was a character I feel like, was made for Darah, and their chemistry when in Dom and Sub mode was electric.
Sibylla has done it again with this book, and I can't wait for any future books.

Welcome to The Naughty Pine, where you can live your most naughty dreams. With extremely well written, sexy and realistic BDSM scenes, Sybilla weaves a story that explores so many issues newbies to the lifestyle are confronted with and shows you how real people can navigate and learn to love the lifestyle. Her obvious care in portraying a BDSM lifestyle realistically isn't always wine and roses. There's bumps in the road and internal struggles to overcome. It's real, but it never reads like a how-to book. I loved that consent, negotiations and safewords are front and center in this book. They all can be done in sexy, sensual, fun and exciting ways. And that's what little chickadee finds with her Rogue.

Sweet and spicy

In the end, this is a boy meets girl, boy loves girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back. A typical pattern but no less sweet because of it. Five stars from me.

This is one of those stories that you just can’t help but love the characters. I love female main character is curvy and oh so relatable. It’s a slow burn at first but once it heats up, WOW. Unexpected twists happen that make the ending so much sweeter. Be prepared to laugh and possibly cry. Very well written. I don’t want to give to much away but if you like kinky romance novels it’s definitely worth reading.
Workaholic Darah has something missing in her life. Her best friend has an idea of what it might be and talks her into going to a kink club on the fourteenth anniversary of her divorce. Can she allow herself the one she thing she truly needs, or will she deny herself out of fear?

The Naughty Pine by Sibylla Matilde ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is my first time reading a book written by Mrs. Sibylla and I have to say I regret nothing. I wasn't expecting so much since I've seen a bunch of BDSM-ish books around and none of them really captured the beauty and commitment that the lifestyle really is. So imagine my surprise when I saw that Sibylla really took the time to show and create the perfect atmosphere for the subject.... I was hooked from the beggining.

It also doesn't help the fact that Därah, the female main character, is me. I can clearly see the "picking fights, but fighting for nothing" struggles she faces because IT'S LITERALLY WHAT I DO IN MY LIFE. Also getting so stucked in her own head, she can barely function... Därah is a real woman with a real life and real struggles. I love when I look at characters and I can think "Oh, this is something that totally could happen to me" and that's what I feel when I look at Därah.

We also have Jace... Oops, sorry, Sir. Rogue... My knight in shining *black leather* armor and Därah's first husband who also is the father of her only child, Madison. I swoon just thinking about the aftercare. *sighs* He's so responsible and so romantic... And so patient. It's beautiful how he iradiates so much love towards his Chickadee and he's always there to make sure she's taken care of even though she thinks she doesn't need it.

The book is an emotional rollercoaster. I couldn't let go of it until I finished because their story is a smutty and cheesy modern fairytail. I highly recommend The Naughty Pine and I will be reading more books by Sibylla.

This book was my first foray into BDSM literature and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I was concerned that the content would be do driven by sex scenes only to be very happy that there was a really good storyline. Matilde did an excellent job in introducing the reader to the BDSM world, and even more so introducing this reader to two amazing MCs.

Jace, my sweet sweet Jace, burdened with being in love with Darah (Dar) for all these years, was written as a powerful and sexy dominant and I am here for it. He didn't seem to be morally flawed other than his willingness to have sex through the powers of BDSM. Dar was written as a flawed by overwhelming weakness and submission, not just to Jace (eventually) but in scenes with her own daughter. I appreciated how she grew into her voice, even through being a submissive and a bottom.

I would have liked for Matilde to give more closure to the "perfect house" scene and have Jace verbalize why he built the house/home the way he did. I would have also liked to have a scene or two when Dar was topping and not topping from the bottom. This would have gone a long way to build more depth/breadth to Jace's character, his vulnerability and willingness to submit to Dar. Although, he had given her his heart for these many years. Perhaps tease that concept out a little more?

Overall, I enjoyed this book and all of the splendid details of the BDSM world. Intriguing, for sure. ;)

Second chance with a twist!

Därah is a single thirty-three-year-old who decides to go to a kink club when her friend invites her. What happens when she spots someone she knows very well?

I fell intrigued within the very first sentence. The book kept me locked in and didn’t let go until the end. The chemistry between both characters was amazing. The aftercare between scenes had me swooning so hard. The spice and smut were fantastic!

Därah has been through a lot and struggles with insecurities. Sometimes I wanted to wring her neck out but then I stopped and thought, we all go through this. We all have insecurities, we all have our issues, and we all have our way of coping with things. I thought it was beautiful to show this character like this.

Jace was so sexy. Like no sooner that man pops into my head, I shiver and close my eyes. He was so sweet and cared so much. The way he would just rush to take care of Därah whether in the scene or not, WAS EVERYTHING. Andddddd, when he was Rouge, I almost died from the heat radiating off this man. This man was just * chef's kiss*.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this book and I loved it so much. I cannot wait to read another one from this author. The characters, the plot, and the style were amazing. She did a magnificent job.

The Naughty Pine is easily one of the best books I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. This story spoke to my heart on a level I didn’t even know I needed. Sweet Darah is so relatable. I connected with her & felt her emotions so vividly. Going through the motions & not really living life is how a lot of us spend our lives. If you had the chance to experience something new & step outside your comfort zone would you? In this story we get to experience Darah letting go & finding out who she really is. And Jace-where do I find him because there are no words to express the love I have for him. Darah struggles with her own self worth & I think it’s something so many of us understand. I so enjoyed watching her come into her own. The push & pull between these two is intense. Jace loves hard & his determination is sexy. This books starts off with a slow burn, but once Darah lets go it’s FIRE. There are a lot of dynamics at play here & so much of it is real life. I secretly wish my husband was dominant & legit want to go to The Naughty Pine. The narration by Kitty was outstanding. She added so much to this story & really brought this book to life. I encourage you to read/listen to this book -I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

I received an ALC & this is my honest review.

I’d heard a lot of good words about this book, but I wasn’t ready for this story. I wasn’t ready for Därah’s lack of self confidence, and just how clearly this was communicated. Därah completely has self image issues, which hits close to home for me.

Watching this relationship- from THAT moment of recognition, to the way Jace inserts himself back into Därah’s life, to how they manage their history, how they stoke the fire of this new passion, and how they work through the problems they both cause, to figure out the future, this story is a complete emotional rollercoaster. From the highs of subspace, to the lows of abandonment, this love story covers every corner of the canvas with shades of joy, rage and sorrow.

With the BDSM aspect, it’s very descriptive, and this part is very important to the story. The trust between Dom and sub, the ability to leave sex out of the scene(and the need to include it, after the intimacy is rekindled), the steam incinerates the pages. It’s completely overwhelming, and yet exactly what is needed. That comfort from the Dom character spreads across these pages like a warm flannel blanket. And these two- they are the one in a million couple that have the most rewarding steamy times!

Story 📖: 5/5

I expected a seriously spicy read when I started this book, but it was so much more. I was totally blown away by the journey The Naughty Pine took me on. I related to Darah, she was a mom of a teenaged girl, Mad didn't really need her much anymore, spending all of her time and energy on work and providing. When you get into a rut it is easy to just continue going through the motions of life without much thought for yourself. When she is brought to an adult venue by her friend she sees her ex husband, the one that got away. I thought this was where the book would just be plain dirty but that is not what happened. Yes, there was a lot of spice but it was more about Darah learning how to express her wants, needs and feelings. Jace and Darah had been divorced for 14 years, but they were meant to be, they just weren't mature enough the first time around. I was stunned by the amount of emotional growth Darah goes through during this journey.

I don't have words for what this book is and how it was nothing like I expected. It went places deep inside of my soul. I connected with the main character in ways like I've never done before, seeing a reflection of myself through her. For some people, expressing yourself and sharing your feelings is hard. It always comes down to the fear of being laughed at or sounding selfish or being rejected. It's a hard, harsh thing to deal with. This book was so beautiful. Jace was everything a girl could ever want. His love and devotion were amazing. The heartbreak and hurt were palpable. And the steam was off the charts sizzling. I highly recommend this book, yes for the steam but everything beyond that as well. I hat off to the author for this thing of complete beauty.

This book is a super hot, BDSM story about Darah, a 30 something mom who goes to a kink club and runs into her ex husband. As their story unravels, you'll get an education about what goes on in such a place. If you're curious (and you know you are!) you have to read their story.
I appreciated that Darah was so normal. She has a teenage daughter and trouble with self esteem. She has a few pounds to lose. She works too much and sleeps too little. She's so relatable. Darah walks through the Naughty Pine and wonders who else is there from her small town exactly as any of us would. The juxtaposition of this very typical woman attending this very taboo club is done so well by author Sibylla Matilde. I'm looking forward to checking out more of her work!

I received a copy of this story in return for my honest review.

The Naughty Pine is a story by Sibylla Mathilde, and Kitty Wilder narrates the audiobook. It's a second chance/ BDSM romance with an equal balance between storyline and smut is equally balanced.

Darah felt so relatable because of her insecurities and her curiosity about the BDSM lifestyle. I loved that she was curvy and very much in her head, also that was familiar.
Jace was perfect, he adored Darah, his love for this woman was so pure and perfect.
The emotions run high in this story. It was easy to get lost in the characters' emotions because the author made everything so realistic.
The sex scene's almost burned my ears, they are so hot. The BDSM part wasn't really dark. These characters had so much love for each other, they only wanted to pleasure each other, and Sibylla Mathilde made that jump off the pages.

I loved how the BDSM lifestyle got portrayed and explained. This is perfect for readers who want to read BDSM romance but don't know where to start.

You won't believe me if you listen to the audiobook, but this was the first audiobook Kitty Wilder narrated. Her voice is so soft, soothing, and sensual. The way she tells the sex scenes adds to sensuality and makes them even hotter. I hope she will narrate more books in the future.

I'm sure reading The Naughty Pine book is a fantastic experience, but listen to the audiobook will take the experience and the story to another level.

This audiobook is a must-listen! It's sexy, steamy, erotic, emotional, and so much more!

Därah is 33 and in a rut, so she decides to go to a BDSM club with her kinky friend. The last person she expects to find there, as a venerated Dom, no less, is her ex-husband Jace. Hilarious hijinks obviously ensue.

What I liked about this book:
🌲grownass adult FMC older than 30 who is not body perfect and is self conscious about it - um relatable
🌲MMC who’s not an asshole that I can root for
🌲they’re parents - hooray for kinky parents
🌲 accurate depiction of BDSM as far as I’ve been told 😉
🌲consistent character development
🌲hot spice that made me jealous
🌲Montana? Who knew it was sexy

What I didn’t like:
A giant misunderstanding that caused years of misery and could have been fixed with one sentence. Come on, characters!! Get it together!🤣🤣🤣

Overall an enjoyable and gentle kinky read.
