EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO, THE WORLD LEARNED THE UGLY TRUTH:
GOD EXISTS. HE JUST DOESN’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT US.

After a deadly virus wipes out most of the world’s population, those of us who survive are left as food for the Damned, the walking corpses ravaged by the infection.

Jax Constantine weaves himself into my life with blood tingling charisma and a smile that rekindles my hope in love. But a dark secret lurks beneath his penetrating gaze and sizzling touch. One he’s not willing to share, leading me to believe he might not be the man I thought.

Amazing

I've always been a big fan of apocalyptic movies but I haven't ever read it. This book sucked me in, I had my own apocalyptic movie in my head. It was amazing, the plot, the characters, the whole damn story. I loved the dual POV, Jax and Kate are so well written I can't wait to read the next book.

WOW WOW Couldn't stop reading!!!! Update:

EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO, THE WORLD LEARNED THE UGLY TRUTH:
GOD EXISTS. HE JUST DOESN’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT US.

Afterworld: Road To Redemption by Olivia Boothe and Victoria Liiv is Jax and Kate’s love story. It was a traumatizing meeting for her…and him…

In the beginning, we bounce between Kate’s journal and Jax’s Grimoire in the year 2031.

I love one of Kate’s first entries…out scavenging and she scores some tampons. Aunt Flow still flows, even during an apocalypse. AND, she meets Hank, a service dog who lost his master. They become hard and fast companions. As they fight the beasts, there comes a blinding light…an angel, who gives his life to save hers.

Jax sees the light, knows it’s an angel, and races to get there. It’s his only hope of getting rid of the demon, War, one of The Four Horsemen, who resides inside him. When he sees her fight, he realizes she is more than a woman.

We do have that gruesome, brutal, blood and guts going on, The Walking Dead vibe, but we also have the, sort of, lightness of Supernatural. I found myself laughing in the middle of danger. Couldn’t help myself.

I would think if there is any kind of attraction, sex would arise. After all, how often do you come across a human that doesn’t want to kill you? She found it easy to trust him, but he has yet to tell all to her and how dangerous he can be. I feel there is even a dash of Fifty Shades of Grey…some smoking hot scenes.

At 65% an amazing surprise came to light…and I loved it.

There is one scene with rats in the sewers that The Walking Dead made it so easy to visualize. Also, the movie references made me think of Denizzo on NCIS. So many things I referenced to TV shows made the book even more special because it had those familiar elements that had me smiling or cringing.

Well, I read and read and read, slept, then read and read and read. It was so hard to put the book down, but I couldn’t get it read in one sitting. The pace and danger kept rising, the suspense off the charts, the action so fast paced near the end I was shouting out loud…NO, NO, NO…I was so fearful, but…well…all I can say is, if you love the dark side of paranormal romance, some Supernatural, some Walking Dead, some angels and demons, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse…..this is a must read.

The story does end with a happy ever after, but there is more to come and I can hardly wait to begin. Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Afterworld: Road To Redemption by Olivia Boothe & Victoria Liiv.

I really enjoyed this fast-paced post apocalyptic romance. This post apocalyptic world has been ravaged by a virus and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were released from hell 18 months ago. Humanity is left to fight for its survival.

This story was darker than I was expecting and I really liked the characters too! Kate was a fierce warrior and an all around badass. Jax was a complex, flawed character with secrets.

This story is creative, unique, and I thought it was brilliantly written. The story had suspense, drama, violence, action, gore, emotional turmoil and some steamy moments. There’s more in store for these characters and I’m looking forward to the next book!

AFTERWORLD: ROAD TO REDEMPTION was an interesting post-apocalyptic romance that was action packed from beginning to end. I loved how badass Kate was but boy was she stubborn and not good at taking advice from others. Jax makes a good partner for Kate because he's equally tough and he never tries to hold her back and he respects her strength. Jax does have a dark past and he made a lot of mistakes while he was growing up in the Devil's Army cult and being brainwashed by their ideals. But he wants to fix his mistakes and make the world better and I liked seeing his redemption through his actions and his love for Kate. Together they had great chemistry and while there's only a few sex scenes they were very spicy.

The set up behind the apocalypse was more religious with biblical angels and demons than I was expecting but it wasn't done in a worshipful or inspirational way. In fact, I appreciated that Kate was always questioning the angels about why they didn't help sooner and why God would just stand by. However, one thing I really didn't like involved a miracle pregnancy of a character that was infertile; I hate these kinds of plot lines and really wish it was done differently.

While there was a lot to love about AFTERWORLD and I think a lot of readers will love this one, I don't plan to read the rest of the series because it just didn't hook me enough to continue the characters' stories.

Content Warning: cults; injured dog (recovers); miracle pregnancy; religious apocalypse; past death of husband and child; references to torture and rape

I absolutely loved this book!! I always enjoyed the books, movies and shows on the apocalypse. This book was totally up my ally and I honestly can't wait to read the next one!! Like omg I need it now!!

Katie is such a bada$$. She kicks major butt. She has been through so much. Can't blame her for not doing what should should have done with her husband and daughter. Hard doing that to the ones you love.

Also love her dog Hank!! I was in the edge of my seat a few times praying that nothing bad happens to him. He should be protected at all cost! He is so protective of Katie and you can see their true bond with each other!!

I love Jax!! He is a tough guy who had a bad past because of how he was brought up. Having a demon/huntsman inside him doesn't make it any easier. You can see how much he has changed and how his love for Katie has changed him for the better! He would do anything for her.

If you enjoy apocalypse, angels, demons, end of the world and the huntsmen stuff, this book is for you! Especially if you enjoy spicy stuff too! The spice was great too.

Afterworld is a fast-paced and interesting first book in a post-apocalyptic romance series. In this story the world was ravaged by a virus and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were released from hell 18 months prior. What remains of humanity is left to try and survive and battle the denizens released from hell, in addition to the zombie like remnants of humans that succumbed to the virus.

Our main characters are Kate, Jax and Hank the dog. Kate is a great character. She's kind, determined and empathic but she frustrated me at times. There were a couple situations where she did things that we're very brave but also very stupid. At one point she essentially gambled with the fate of humanity. I was yelling at her in my head.

Jax is flawed character who has done some horrible things in his past. In this book he does some things to work towards redemption. I'm not really sure how I feel about him. I don't like what he did in his past, but I like the person he is becoming, and I think a big part of that is due to Kate and his love for her.

Kate along with her super smart and loyal dog Hank meet Jax early in the book when he saves her from a dangerous situation. They are both attracted to each other from the beginning. And it's not long until they give in to that attraction.

The book follows along with Kate and Jax as they find themselves fighting demons and The Horseman, all while Jax struggles with a secret that could destroy him. But don't worry, they get some angelic help along the way.

I quite enjoyed Afterworld. In fact, I lost sleep because I didn't want to put it down. It's a good mix of story, action, and romance. It has a satisfying ending but there is more story to be told. I look forward to the next book.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

OMFG!! This story is creative, unique and utterly phenomenal! I am sitting here just reeling in my emotions after finishing this incredible story. I am blown away by how remarkable the world building and the imagery was. It instantly transported me to this dark and depraved apocalyptic world filled with the devoured, demons, hellhounds, and all that is left of humanity. It was a fast-paced, action-packed and violent story that had me quite literally on the edge of my seat, biting my nails with anticipation over what the hell was going to happen next, and trying to stop my jaw from continually dropping to the floor over what was transpiring right before my eyes. UNPUTDOWNABLE!

The world has been ravaged by a virus, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been let loose, and demons from hell are roaming the earth looking for survivors to devour. It is a dark and gritty world where humans are trying to survive the unthinkable and where God has abandoned all of humanity leaving little hope left for those that can survive. Amazing theory right!!!

Kate is remarkable, a survivor, warrior and fierce woman who is doing everything she can to survive this new world and protect those that need help. She has been given the ultimate gift and will do anything (even when she shouldn’t) to help others. I loved her bravery and strength but at times I really hated how she would just risk her life without thinking about the consequences of what would happen if she failed.

Jax, I love this guy. He is such a complex and flawed character, who carries around some pretty nasty demons in his past. As the atrocities he has committed slowly get revealed, your heart goes out to the man he is trying to become by shedding the demons of his past and the ones that continually follow him.

The instant connection between Jax and Kate was undeniable, and you just knew that these two were going to be a formidable pair once they worked out their differences. Their back-and-forth banter was filled with hilarious quirky moments and some very intense sexual innuendos – which had my toes curling. The sexual chemistry between them just oozed off the pages and definitely had my panties melting. I loved these two together and I continually cheered them on throughout.

Brilliantly written story that got its hooks into me right from the start, making it very difficult to put down. The characters are so well written that you instantly feel a connection with some of them right away and others you just want to help destroy. The storyline has just blown me away. It is filled with action, suspense, drama, violence, gore, emotional turmoil and some very steamy moments.

I could not get enough of this story, and I am desperately needing more. I never wanted it to end.

Please check TWs.

To be honest it took me a little while to really get into this story but once I did I couldn’t put it down!
It’s a fast paced story with the main part taking place in less than a week.

We watch our main characters Kate and Jax meet while fighting off demons and one of the four horsemen. That was a crazy start to their love story - but I think it was fitting!

Kate is such a strong character: determined, caring, kick ass. She’s been through so much and at one point it seemed like she was going to give up… I’m happy she didn’t. She deserves the life she’s always wanted.
Jax is a darkened soul but his want to be good is overpowering - I throughly enjoyed his character and the little comments he made about movies and the past.

This book his worth reading for Hank alone - aka the dog you see on the cover 🐾 he really is woman’s best friend - always there for Kate, keeping her grounded after her loss.

I can’t wait to see what’s next for these characters!

Afterworld: Road to Redemption was a bit of a genre shift for me (I have been primarily reading academy and omegaverse these past few months), but I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it. I was already hooked after reading the short prequel, so I knew I was in for an intense ride with this one. It did not disappoint. I loved every tense second!

It is dark, as you would expect in a story about the apocalypse. There is a constant threat of death or serious injury, even when you are supposed to be safe. Since God has abandoned humanity, there is little hope left. Hellhounds and the Four Horsemen abound. You get bitten or scratched; you turn. In this darkness, people’s true natures come to light.

We have Jax, who was meant to be the sacrificial host for War but had second thoughts about dying for a cause he didn’t believe in and ran before completing the ritual. Now he shares his body with the demon living like a parasite within him and fighting for control. He meets/rescues Kate, who has lost everyone she loves, and her dog/best friend, Hank, who constantly put themselves in harm’s way to help anyone they can.

In a destined lovers romance, you expect little relationship-building, but Olivia and Victoria did a great job building rapport between Jax and Kate outside of physical attraction. They had an almost magnetic draw to each other. And these women know how to write a s3x scene! The entirety of Chapter 10 will play on repeat in my head for a very long time. Honestly, this book is worth the read for Chapter 10 alone!

There was a real “all these moments led me to you” vibe with both main characters. Jax’s childhood and upbringing within the Devil’s Army pushed him in one direction, but his choices led him to Kate. Kate’s loss of her husband and daughter, plus her drive to save those in trouble, put her on the path that placed her before Jax (he literally had to rescue her). She helped teach him that just because you made bad choices before doesn’t mean you are incapable of redemption.

I was wholly invested in this story. I spent so much energy worrying about Hank, though Kate and I were probably on the same page there, as she also worried about him because he had as much of a hero complex as she did. I admit that I was brought to tears more than once; I felt the pain written in the pages. It was well done.

They say this can be read as a standalone, as there is a resolution to the story at the end of the book, but I know that I will be keeping my eye out for the rest of the series. I am too invested in the characters not to see what happens next.

Where do I even begin?

This was everything I hoped for an more. I'd like to start by saying I DEFINITELY overlooked the cover for this one and decided to read it because of the synopsis. It looked cool visually but not something I'd typically gravitate towards. The blurb tho.... the four horsemen, badass fmc, fast paced romance, apocalyptic world and freaking angels. I mean what could you want more ?

It's definitely the kind of paranormal romance that is not joking about hellish creatures. You're looking for demons ? Oh this is for you. Read the trigger warnings and buckle up because this was a hell of an emotional rollercoaster. I was hooked from the get go. You won't even have time to breath. I was glued to my phone and couldn't get enough. There were multiple instances where I teared up, and the mmc definitely made me swoon. He's the weakness of every woman out there thinking she can "fix him". Jax story broke my heart and I just wanted him to heal and find love. As for Kate, god I adore her. She's strong, fearless but also compassionate. And she takes bullshit from no one. You know I'm always in for an fmc who stands her ground.

And don't even get me started on the plot : *CHEF'S KISS*. The worldbuilding was clear without being simplistic and the way the story flowed was so organic it made my heart swell with joy. Don't you just love it when the plot is as good as the smut ? Because there's smut in here and boiii was it hot. Idk if it has anything to do with both of them battling hellions and their inner demons at each turn, or the fact that the world was literally ending... but oof the spice certainly had a kick. I don't know what it is about blood baths and s-
ok i need to chill
someone needs to seriously research that tho

Thanks to katieandbreypa for sending me this arc ♡ Can't wait to read the rest of the series !!

1st and foremost this was darker than I expected and I loved it.

The Lord behind this is a complete play on John Constantine and I'm absolutely all the way here for it. Throw in some I am legend vibes!!!

1st let's discuss the triggers.
Discussion of noncon
Elluding to child noncon
Kidnapping
Gore and blood
Murder of a child on page
PTSD
Pet harm
Abusive parents

Tropes
Apocalypse, biblical lore
Force proximity
Betrayal/redemption
Prophecy

Kate is one of the few humans who has been able to survive through the Apocalypse... The 4 horsemen are on Earth 3 have been seen... Losing her whole family has caused Kate a lot of trauma and when she finds herself about to lose her dog it's more than she can handle...

Hank is hilarious and I love him. I have a soft spot for German shepherds...

Jax has been transversing a pretty New York looking for something anything to To bring him reprieve from the war raging inside of him. A-war of guilt and self doubt And self hatred. But instead finds Kate and Hank. And she might just be his redemption.

It's not heavily spicy but it's definitely not "clean"

Jax likes a little pain with his pleasure and showing Kate she does too ♡♡◇

It would be unethical of me not to point out that utilizing a belt for breathe play is so unbelievably dangerous please don't do this in real life!!!!!!!!!

About the Book:
The book is about human survival in a world where zombies and nightcrawlers took over. It is a war between good and evil. A test in the faith of humanity.
The story started when Kate is out in search of supplies as she encounters Horsemen who are in the middle of kidnapping a young girl. She cannot turn a blind eye and tried to rescue her. But other than the Horsemen, there are also savage nightcrawlers to fight. Together with her dog Hunt, they tried to fight them with all their skills and strength.
From afar, Jax saw what was happening and he knew that there is no chance that a woman and her dog will survive the fight. He intervenes and helps them escape from the hand of evil.
Kate wonders who Jax is as they try to survive the night being chased by the nightcrawlers. She was glad to meet another survivor but he is hiding something. However, this doesn’t stop her interest in this hot and sexy lad who is now trying to save humanity with her. Will she be able to save mankind? Will Kate still accept Jax once his secret is out?
My Thoughts:
This book is filled with hair-raising, petrifying, and full of action in every chapter. The flow of the story is so good that it is hard to put it down. Each page leads to secret after secret. It is unpredictable and there are no dull moments in each chapter.
I like both characters. Kate is brave and will think about others before herself. Her dog Hunk and their loyalty to each other. Jax is willing to die to protect everyone he cares about. Every scene of the story is well thought up to its tiny detail. Minor details but makes sense like Aunt Flow. I hope the next battle of Kate against evil will come out soon.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book is an apocalyptic tale involving angels, the four horseman, mutated humans and demonic creatures. The two MCs, Jax and Kate, meet when Jax appears to save Kate from some of the demonic creatures, the D’shiad, and one of the horsemen. During which time, an angel appears to try to help them. From there, Jax is ordered by the angel to protect Kate, despite him not understanding why. And so their journey together begins, as Jax falls into the role of not only protector, but gradually of being willing to do anything for Kate.

This book has it all. Fighting, thrills, some hot spice, comedy, and compassion as the characters push to survive this post-apocalyptic world together. I loved how fast-paced the book was. It kept you on your toes. I loved the spice and connection that the two MCs had for one another, almost right away (and that solo shower scene was just the beginning taste of it). I look forward to reading the second in the series, though this totally could have been read as a standalone.

I read this book in 2 days. Could not put it down! I neglected my family and job to finish the book. I love the world that Olivia and Victoria have created. I was fascinated with the description of the demons, angels and the hounds of hell. The virus, the zombies, food hunting and what happened to the city is described in a way that put me in the world and I felt I was walking the streets of a post apocalyptic Brooklyn.
I can totally see this as a Netflix series-It has action, romance, suspense, demons, angels and Hank! Hank steals the show!!! Be prepared for a range of emotions while reading Afterworld because it draws you in during the first chapter and doesn´t let go. The chemistry between Kate and Jax is electric and hot! The belt scene- 5/5 flames on the steam scale. At one point I was yelling at the book and my husband thought I had lost it! You´re going to want more Kate, Jax, Hank and Mikha´el! Please give us the next book soon!

“You’ve given me hope, Kate. That there is still good in this world.”

I have read other apocalyptic romances but none of them involved the four horsemen and the way this story was told was amazing. I really liked how we got both POV, so we could see both Jax’s and Kates internal battles. I also liked how whenever there was a misunderstanding, instead of jumping to conclusions they talked it out.
I absolutely loved Hank. I need a hank in my life.

This has everything you need from an apocalyptic romance and more. It has angels and demons, a cute protector pup. A bada$$ female character who isn’t perfect at all. And a grey hero/villain. I need book two to know what happens!!

An adult action packed adult dystopian romance novel with spice. This was a fun and fast paced adventure.

The world building is excellent and the dialogue is funny and witty. I enjoyed exploring this world along with the characters.

I really enjoyed the banter between the two main characters. Watching them come to terms with being morally grey and still trying for a better world was worth the tumultuous journey that they go through.

If you like a story with post apocalyptic vibes along with heaven and hell battles for Earth, this story is for you.

This book was amazing and intense in all the right places. Although the book was a bit longer than I expected this was a good thing as it really helped to define the new world after the summoning of the four horsemen. Olivia Boothe was also able to lay down some solid background info for all of her main characters as well as for some of the supporting characters. I really enjoyed how the world building and the characters were able to jump off the pages for me and make the book much more real in my mind. I loved this book and look forward to the next installment!!.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book set in a post-apocalyptic world. It kind of took me back to high school when I would devour these kind of stories. It was nice to go back to it and switch it up from my usual genres these days.

Afterworld is everything you’d want from this genre. It’s fast-paced, got a kickass protagonist, and swoon-worthy romance. The stakes are high, the action doesn’t let up and emotions are running high. And besides our two main characters, Kate and Jax, we also got a sidekick: a dog – can’t go wrong with that ;)

Oh my goodness!!! This book was amazing! Nonstop from beginning to end. I loved the characters and the world. Demons and angels and the Horsemen and a virus?!

I absolutely loved the development between Kate and Jax. They were just what the other needed and they fought for each other despite having only known each other for a very short period of time. Their backstories were incredibly emotional and I found myself cheering for them to just be happy!

I laughed. I cried. And for the most part, was on the edge of my seat because this was seriously action-packed!

Fingers crossed for a sequel because I need it now!!!

This one was so interesting! I've never really read a paranormal romance before but this one reminded me of Legend (the movie with Will Smith and also a german shepherd) but it was so good. I read it in one sitting and I ranted to my boyfriend and he was almost as invested as me!

Firstly, I highly recommend you read the prequel “Afterworld, Losing Salvation “ it provides so much information and insight. Max and Kate don’t have it easy, Hell has literally been unleashed on Earth along with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, HellHounds, zombies and other creatures you don’t want to meet. A true Heaven vs Hell story twisted around a romance that has so much chemistry. Full of action, drama, steam and some sweetness and humour to lighten the mood. And epic beginning that has a HFN but the battle isn’t over. Looking forward to the next book.

I can't put into words how much I enjoyed this book. I loved the characters, the plot, and I definitely didn't see the plot twist coming. The authors did such an amazing job writing this book. I fell in love with Kate and her dog Hank. Hank absolutely stole the show in this book. I loved Jax. I loved following him and going through his torment with him. This book had so much potential, and while it wasn't a personal favorite, it wasn't all bad either. The book reads very fast pace. This paranormal romance was loaded with action, sexy scenes, and a really interesting storyline concept. The character development was there. I think the romance piece is where it fell flat for me. The line that kept coming into play was "I know I've only known him/her for a day... or two days, or three days.... but I've never felt like this about someone...". For me, it was lacking some depth and especially in the beginning read almost like a bad porn. It did get better, and I would probably still read the sequel, so altogether I give this a 3 star rating.
