Core Confidence: Own Your Talent • Face Your Fear • Create Your Future

Rate this book
Having admired the ideas expressed in Lean In and The Confidence Code, we found through Core Confidence workshops that the missing piece of the confidence puzzle was having access to a practical how-to guide that highlights both the external and internal building blocks of core confidence. This led to the publishing of Core Confidence - Own Your Talent, Face Your Fear, Create Your Future.

What is standing in the way of creating the career and life you really want?

Core Confidence is the essential how-to guide for working women wanting to maximise their potential and overcome the fears and beliefs that hold them back. It is designed to enable women to face, manage and navigate the personal barriers that are standing in their way.

In Core Confidence, Kate Boorer and Fiona Pearman share their models and methodology that have been developed from more than 50+ combined years of experience as executives in organisations, consultants and coaches. Core Confidence strengthens and supports women to reconnect with their inner resource, confidence and ability to say I've got this in any situation, and mean it.

About the author

Kate is one of Australia's leading experts on career, confidence and personal brand. After a decade working as a Chartered Accountant in both public practise and commerce, Kate pivoted her skills and career towards an entrepreneurial path, launching a consultancy focused on coaching leaders and organisations to create high performance workplace cultures.

Kate is also an active thought leader and advocate for gender equality and leads a community, Young Professional Women Australia, that supports the career progression and personal development of women in their early-mid career.

Kate and Fiona’s book Core Confidence was the result of years of research and insights working with courageous women willing to challenge the status quo. Their research revealed that despite there being lots information about confidence generally – there is very little that provides a practical how-to guide to address this issue. Having shared their work at conferences, forums, panels and within organisations both in Australia and internationally, they have learnt how universal this topic of confidence is. Both men and women find there are times when their confidence wavers and affects their presence and influence which then has an impact on their career.

I very much enjoyed this book from the get-go! Their mantra that the act of confidence comes before the feeling of confidence, resonated strongly. This is supported by their clear building blocks (10 of them) which focus your attention on what can be acted upon in support - from goals, to relationships, resilience and seeking help. The spaces for reflection are frequent and allowed me to build my action plan to move towards increased feelings of confidence.

I loved this book and can’t recommend it enough to all my friends. It offers really practical insights, the chapters are concise and easy to read and I also loved that there was notes pages at the end of every chapter to joy down your thoughts.

What was interesting to me was the definition of confidence. Everyone hears the word confidence thrown around, but what does confidence really mean? And how do we feel more confident? This book delves into all of that and more.

Highly recommend!
