Loved it! A beautifully written book with gorgeous images of David Mankin’s work. Through the narrative of his process , Mankin generously shares how a painting begins and comes to completion over time from observing the land and sea to photos and/or sketchbook to works on paper to collage to canvas. Very helpful as I think about developing my own process of creating art.

A beautiful book with over 200 gorgeous paintings by David Mankin, a contemporary abstract painter based in Cornwall. I’m interested in everything here: Mankin’s inspirations, influences, and sources; his studio practice, methods, and materials; and the spectacular Cornish coast and landscapes. An intimate look at a painter’s development and process. A rare treat and a treasured volume.
