What sort of girl steals a motorcycle from outlaws?
What sort of girl blooms in the face of danger, like a rose with thorns?

I’m the queen to a dirty throne of men and mania, a dissenter that’s supposed to be a quiet accomplice to the Death by Daybreak Motorcycle Club. The four wicked men I’ve summoned are like the Horsemen of the Apocalypse—albeit dressed in leather and riding chrome stallions—and I’m the last judgement, bringing the end of the world as the club knows it. Only, it’s with my own hands bathed in blood and betrayal.

They’ve always been wrong for me.
But every motorcycle club has its secrets.
These guys … they’re owned by one.
They’re owned by me.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she's not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She's the author of over thirty novels - romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There's a heck of a lot to do there.

Oh, and Caitlin loves to chat (incessantly), so feel free to e-mail her, send her a Facebook message, or put up smoke signals. She's already looking forward to it.

I actually want to give the book 2 stars, just because there we so little interesting parts in this book. And when it got interesting, we needed to wait for the next book.

As always when I’ve read a new book of Stunich lately I’m discovering her talent for tedious inner dialogue. There is SO MUCH inner dialogue that is repetitive that I could’ve skimmed most of those parts, feel less frustrated and have a much stronger story than with it. My advice for Stunich is: scrap about half of the inner dialogue. The book will have less words, but the overall story will be stronger because it isn’t so boring in those parts. The beginning and ending of the book were good. The middle is a lot of relationship and sex. I don’t mind that per se, but this also gets a bit boring and tedious. Except for those few moments that count between the 5 of them. I loved Grey & Reba’s parts in the book and I guess I will read the next book because I want to know how it all ends. But I won’t be starting new series of Stunich, it’s just too repetitive and tedious.

tw: mentions/flashbacks of statutory rape, abuse, animal cruelty, violence against women, mentions of drug use

grey is literally right there. rip to everybody else, a possible romance with reba, or grey possibly being gay or on the ace spectrum, but no matter how many times cm tries to drill it into me by repeatedly writing that gidget doesn’t feel that way about him, i’m still going to ship them and every time she writes that out only makes me ship them harder. they were honestly the best part of this book and she had more development with him than she’s had with literally anyone else, reba included, and minus her mother.

also this book solely exists to justify (and quite possibly glorify) the previous statutory rape that took place. idc how gidget grew up, there’s no justifying it and it seems like cm knew she wrote herself into a hole with this series because it’s so self-aware and repetitive how many times she brings up the age thing and tries to reason it away when she can’t, going as far as to have sin bring up grooming (which they very much did by the way). she willingly wrote a story about a girl as young as 14 going at it with adults that looked at her and felt some kind of way about her as a child and made a literal pact to wait until she was 18 to do something about that. there’s never going to be any amount of reasoning to scrub that away. thanks for coming to my ted talk.

KU READ

I can't wait to read the next book, but we're two books in and I still can't connect to the men at all. Other than Grey. Grey had such a short appearance and I love him more than the guys. Wtf!

I'm fully invested in this series because Gidge is awesome, so is her bestie and her dog❤️

All I'm saying is that I have nothing better to do right now (social distancing) than watch Netflix and wait for this book.

And I can do those simultaneously.

Ups and Downs

And so it continues! I was very excited to read this next installment and it didn't disappoint. The downfall was the inconsistency of the action. It didn't pace out the best and ended up dragging at times and rushing at other points.

I like Gidget although she does have the traditional MC FMC vibe- sassy, smart-mouthed, tougher than they should be can hold their own against men twice their age thing. Not too original but so fun for us as readers and why we keep coming back. I love Crown and Beast, however Sin I never got invested in, something about him feels incomplete. Grainger I'm fine with but don't love as much as the other two.

Grey and the mafia.... Grey's role is still a little puzzling to me. Is he seen as weak to the mafia? Or has he been accepted back and is now true traitor? They seem to go back and forth over little time. The Reba plot line was a bit all over as well. I did like everything with Gaz's confusing roles with the club and mob and the small elements of Nellie's weakness and strength mixes that were added in. Cat took a backseat this time but I'd love to see more of him in the next. The cliffhanger tells me we just might!

I'm enjoying the series, but it seemed to drag a little bit in this book. The story didn't progress much, it focused more on Gidge and her inner monologue.
This one probably could have been cut down quite a bit if the repetitive thoughts were removed.
I am excited to see what happens in the next book. Based on the ending of this one I'm hoping we get the fast paced story back.

RH mc series with plenty of steam, drama, club/mafia business, hot guys and a pretty bad@ss type h, yet I liked her...and I don't always like CM Stunich heroines.

I think guys defo redeemed themselves and are sacrificing a lot for her without losing their "edge".

It's fairly gritty..

Anyway, I really enjoyed it😄

A cliffhanger is pretty neat too - defo want to read the next book.

Ohhh, and this one doesn't have ott OW drama which is kinda good as after "Havoc"... I just can't again 😅

Holy cow. That was so worth the wait. Welcome back to Gidgets world. CM you did it to me again. I don’t think there is anything you’ve written I haven’t devoured and loved. But this was what I was waiting for. Once again, CM has written and sucked you into this world with so much detail that saturates each page. She does such a beautiful job of creating and making dark stories truly wonderful and amazing.

I loved this book. We see different sides to many of the characters from the first book. Gidge gets tougher, sassier, stronger, and even more loveable. And her men…yikes I’ll take one of each. They do everything in their power to keep everyone as safe as they can after that betrayal. Lines are drawn, sides are taken, and holy smokes her men are so swoon worthy. I can truthfully say CM has published another masterpiece. I’m so freaking anxious for the next book to see what happens next. If you haven’t, pick up this series, or any of her other series, you seriously will not be disappointed. She is one of the best!

This was an incredible follow up to the first installment. Gidge and her men are embroiled in more crazy drama with twists and sexiness mixed in too. Great read!

So this was still as addictive to read as the first one. It was gritty and edgy and there was a LOT more spice going on (which I adored, ty author) and overall this read was a wild ride that kept me clutched in its grip the entire time.

I really liked how the FL changed and evolved after being with the Mafia for 3 months. I really liked how her character evolved and learned from that. I was happy to see those changed when she came back to the club and stood on more even ground with her men as she fought to prove she was a real woman now. Adult. Grown. Mature. What killed me tho, is somewhere along the way, she LOST that sparkle of change that had been forced upon her by her collective experiences. She goes from, “I won’t let my anger control me” to reckless loud mouth and on some occasions, devolved backwards rapidly on the maturity scale at breakneck speeds.

Her character has always had the charm of being hard to love and rough around the edges. That mindset and mentality was an interesting change of pace and realistic in terms of her feelings to rage against everyone and everything in the first book. Now in this next book, these feelings were supposed to have been cooled and even exhausted. She’s supposed to be wiser now. She’s supposed to be more observant, more comfortable with enemy’s both posh and brash, cloak and dagger, charming and crazed. Instead, after a brief amount of time where it feels like she’s learning all of her lessons and she’s honing herself into a deadly person, she just, falls of track and misses the target completely (I feel at least).

Like,

There are times she’s just selfish and it’s hard for me to empathize now. Again, she goes through this Mafia experience for 3 months and comes out the other side with a new perspective. I admire that. I loved that. She understands to temper her rage and anger. To not let it control her. To not think of everyone as the enemy (trusting anyone aside). But there are times after she comes back to the club she has these lapses of being a kid again. Not an 18 y.o who’s seen some sh*t and done some stuff, no, she’s reverted back to her 16 y.o self. Or her 17 y.o state of being. Like that time she shouted out to her fathers club of filled with biker wives that she’s calling dibs on 4 men (that her FATHER doesn’t even know she’s hooked up with yet). This is of course while she’s still under suspicion by that same father and club about being a traitor/ spy for the mafia, and her brother is gunning for any excuse to axe her from the land of the not-dead-yet club. All bc she “couldn’t help herself”. That’s just ick girl. Not cute.

Some other things I noticed while I read was that there are times it’s confusing as heck to follow along with conversations. These characters will literally be talking about one thing and then there’s this weird gear switch mid convo that circles back to something else completely separate and it makes it such a pain to follow along. (Example from chapter 18:)

Gidget: “Grey will keep Reba as safe as he can for as long as he can, but I have to find her. He’s waiting for me to figure this thing out.”

Sin: “You might have trust in this guy, but I sure as hell don’t. Gidge, if anyone can find Reba, it’ll be Beast. That is, if she’s still alive.”

(Theres some filler going on before the next sentence about how she’s fondling him rn and that Beast promised to get her Reba back or the wedding was off and then she says next randomly…)

Gidget: “That was a weird night for me, I won’t lie,”
(I saved another example in my Quotes/Highlights thing. These aren’t just one off’s)

More still that irked me as I read was that there are these times she’s just seems so full of herself despite proclaiming to be a feminist.

Quote: “Even were I to marry him (Crown) instead of Beast, he still wouldn’t get what he wants because I will never be the sort of girl who loves only one man. There’s too much of me. I’m too volatile. I’m a white-hot star in a distant galaxy, and I need people in my orbit.”

Quote: “I’ve always been more comfortable with the men in the club—even as a child. And not because there’s anything wrong with the women. I simply don’t like the roles they play in this fucked-up, backward little society of ours.” (Which is totally up to them btw, the women. As we all know, in this fcked-up, backward society of theirs the woman have a voice at the table and a safe space to do so with the boys club. But really, ya kno, she’s “different” 🙄)

Quote: “Cruce, one of the old-timers with a wife half his age. Cue my eyeroll. Not that I can’t admit that I have a bit of a fetish for older men, but I still scoff at everyone else. Because the world is gross; even the slice I’ve taken for myself is wicked pretty.”

Quote: “What was your sister’s name?” I ask, thanking her departed spirit for the ferocity and the love she instilled in this man. She might not be here to benefit from it, but I can—if Sin will allow it.

Overall, look, the themes of these novels despite being catchy and easy eye candy to read till the end, they’re messy. And it’s hard for me to get behind HOW messy it gets without the proper descriptions on those feelings or changes that overwhelm this character (she has an emotional breakdown over a house) and basically, I’m saying that it is hard to fully emerge myself and empathize with the emotions she feels. That the way they are broken down and described is hard to relate to- if at all bc I don’t feel like they’re really delved into or explored as much they should be. I feel the same with any other times she’s broken down or been extremely upset over something. Her relationship with her father. Her half assed attempt at trying to waltz around the topic of outright saying she wants a gaggle with the guys. The way she talks to the guys sometimes. Handles them. Treats them.

Ugh, for as addictive as it is to turn the pages of this novel, what I’ll say is this. It’s messy. It is stupidly, frustratingly, unnecessarily, messy and therefore sloppy and it doesn’t need to be. It has the potential to be more. It could be better. But for now, messy is certainly an interesting way of exploring a new angle with readers and it’s not a bad idea, it’s just driving me insane.

This second book in the series follows Gidget through an intense spiral of danger, suspicion, unexpected friendships being formed and declarations of devotion, loyalty and genuine feelings from the most unexpected sources.

Gidget and Grey get along like two piece in a pot, they share so many similarities in terms of their families and upbringings that it is inevitable for them to form good, solid connection.

When the MC boys come for the FMC it is simply fireworks on all fronts. Some unexpected events take place and Gidget makes some rather surprising decisions along the way.

I can safely say the hat I really like Beasts' character, he intrigued me from the beginning. It is always the quiet ones that surprise you in the most unexpected ways. The connection between the FMC and each one of the guys is fairly strong, sometimes strained and absolutely absorbing. It would be great interesting to see what f there will be a complete surrender to each other.

Curious to see how things will work out for Gidget, n terms of her personal life, her connection with Cat and of course, with Grey and the cartel.

Sin and Salvation 🔥🔥🔥

Holy crap. This will be short cuz I need to start book 3 ASAP!

This book takes off right where book 2 ended.
Only when Gidget walks down the aisle to mafia man - she can literally smell the leather and gasoline that’s on the horizon to save her. She makes it back to the compound and while she thinks she is settling to meet her death, she finds out - Car doesn’t even know what really happened.
She feels like she needs to tie herself down to the club one way or another and asks her father to marry her off.

They test of the book is her building her relationships with these guys, plotting for an attack against the mafia, slewing out traitors and getting ready to be married. Can she keep ALL of her guys at the end of this, what will Cat do when he finds out, Gidget’s kidnapping story is a little tweaked?

*Overall 5/5
*Heat? 4/5
*First person POV
*Cliffhanger

What a cliffhanger!! This a quite an intense series. My only issues with the series so far is that I still don't really have a read on the guys, and Gidget is just a little too tough-ass for me. Having said that, I'm dying to find out what happens next.

I know a lot of us have been dying for this 2nd book. I kinda wish I had done a reread for book 1 but there's just too dang many other books for me read to have done it. CM did a good job triggering my memories so it wasn't to bad just jumping right into this one. Holy cow that cliffhanger 😱 I really hope I have this one figured out. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love this story. Fidget and her relationship with each of her guys. Her love hate relationship with Grainger, love with Crown and Sin and pure devotion from Beast. Her bond with the most unlikely of best friends and her Devil of a Brother. Can’t wait to read book 3.

I didn’t love the first book, but I was intrigued enough that I was anticipating this one. And it doesn’t disappoint. It addresses most of the first book’s problems — the main one being that it wasn’t clear in "I Was Born Ruined" that the guys even liked Gidget. Beast was the only one who ever stood up for her.

Well, that vagueness is gone, here. This book simmers in pages and pages of the guys actually opening up and expressing emotions. It has everything that “I Was Born Ruined” was lacking. This one brings the heart AND there's also no animal cruelty this time or issues with her age, as she's 18. (Aside from its overwhelming nihilism, book 1's main flaws were the lack of feeling in the guys, Gidget's age, and animal cruelty).

Now, this one is still flawed. Every RH has the tough job of conveying what’s so special about the girl that all these guys are into her. Since this one has the additional element of her being a lot younger, we really need to feel a reason why these men are drawn to this girl.

Sin is the by far the most developed. We get his life story here, and since we already knew that Gidget grew up with him hanging around as a protector, their connection feels the most natural.

Honestly, I find Crown captivating as a character and it was great to finally get some feelings from him. The way he handled Gidget's choice to steal his bike at the end of "I Was Born Ruined" was the perfect resolution to that book’s cliffhanger that I didn't expect. But even though we finally establish that he loves Gidget and apparently has for a long time, it’s very unclear why.

It’s fun to read about them, but it still feels underdeveloped why Crown, Beast, and Grainger are into Gidget instead of women their own age. (Okay, maybe Grainger makes sense since he's immature).

Sin and Gidget have a connection because of their shared experience of losing their sisters and growing up too fast. The other guys feel a connection to Gidget....just because? We still know so little about them. They're distinctive and good characters in general, and I like them. But the RH part feels a little forced, like Gidget and Sin are the best match and the others are just kind of there because this book wanted to be an RH.

But maybe that’s just CM Stunich’s style, since Havoc was like that too, with Vic.

I’m pleasantly surprised that this book swerves away from the easy route of making Gidget’s parents the main villains. They’re still not good people and I wouldn't say they're redeemed, but they’re given some shades of nuance, here. Often in this genre – and in other Stunich books I’ve read – parent figures are just utterly evil. So this is a welcome and unexpected turn.

The central plot of the conflict between the MC and the Mafia is also well done. It doesn’t get bogged down in too much technicalities the way this genre sometimes does.

All in all, whether you loved the first book or especially if you thought it was just okay but were curious where this story is going, this is worth a read.

Well damn

What’s the southern saying “slap my a** and call me lassie?” Something like that. That’s how this book made me feel.

Gidget is just a damn force to reckoned with and if not a damn person sees they something ain’t right in their heads. I love her she’s definitely a strong formidable crazy as hell but you can’t help but love her FMC.

EHH I don’t know how I feel about her parents. I feel her on it’s a little to late for a relationship with them but I also can see how they feel. They should just try to be parents after they weren’t for 15 years.

Grainger he’s your typically alpha hole that you can’t help but love. Crown he’s your possessive alpha hole that you can’t help but love. Sin he’s sweet but definitely still an alpha hole. Beast he’s your wall that you try to climb because he’s just that damn good at hiding everything. They’re all alphaholes but you love them.

I just love this series. Also I hate Gaz. Ugh

Here’s my favorite quotes;

“In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments—there are consequences.”

“Before you take that test,” Beast begins, and I shudder at the sound of his voice. It reminds me of how he felt when he was inside of me, and I hate that. I don’t want to remember it because then I’ll want to repeat it. “Know that I’m on your side. Period.”

Guess I was born ruined, but now I’m dressed in sin. It’s an outfit I wear like a designer dress, as proud of it as a red-carpet gown, something to show off. It’s in my blood, that awful, awful blood that I share with Cat.

“Let’s make a pact, okay? No matter what happens, you have my back, and I have yours.” He smiles at me and leans in, pressing a light kiss to my lips, like a promise for tomorrow. “Deal,” he says, and then, when I try to turn over, he moves his hand to my face and holds me there. Even though it’s pitch-black, I can see the reflection of the moon in his pale irises.
“For all my faults, I never lie. I will have your back, Gidge, no matter what.” ~Gidge and Grey

“I missed you so much,” Grainger grates out through gritted teeth as I dig my fingers into his rust-red hair and yank on one of his lip rings with my teeth. “I hate you so much.”

“After Grainger brought you to the compound, you bummed a smoke from Sin, and that’s the last thing I can recall. Only the five of us know you traded us for that boy.” ~Crown

Sin looks devastated; Grainger is furious. Crown is … I don’t even have words to describe that man right now.

“Did you wrong more than once,” Beast admits, shaking his head. “I won’t make that mistake again.” He gives me a long, hard look. “This is the last time I’mma say this: three people. Nobody else. After our wedding, I can’t promise I’ll be inclined to share.”

“Dying is an art, like everything else. I do it exceptionally well. I do it so it feels like hell. I do it so it feels real. I guess you could say I’ve a call,”

permission from a place of submission is often just coercion at its finest.
