Hudson Slade has a lot to answer for. His brother crossed the family next door and messed them over bad, but he helped create that monster. Mimi Bridges has forgiven him, but she doesn't know the half of it. Worse, he might look like a tough cowboy, but he's got a soft spot for her.
Getting together with Mimi might be harder than Romeo sneaking in to see Juliet, and unfortunately Hudson knows exactly how that turned out.
USA TODAY Bestselling Author, Stephanie Fowers loves bringing stories to life, and depending on her latest madcap ideas will do it through suspense, fantasy, historical, contemporary, and of course... romance, romance, romance. Presently, she lives in Salt Lake where she's living the life of the starving artist.
This was another fantastic Stephanie Fowers book! I really liked Mimi's sass and Hudson's soft, teddy bear heart under the exterior of a gruff cowboy. I was instantly sucked into the story and, having also read River's Song--Fowers's previous book in the Harvest Ranch series--I was already invested in the characters. Do you need to read River's Song to enjoy this book? No. But it'll definitely add some depth to the story, and it's also a fun book. I felt Mimi's frustrations over Hudson't hot and cold attitude, and I even wanted to go shake some sense into him myself! I enjoyed Hudson't story arc from being self-recriminating over previous childhood actions to realizing he can't change the past, all he can do is not repeat those mistakes and ask for forgiveness. And, of course, I loved, loved, Loved the longing glances and the steamy kisses! But the book is clean: no foul language and no sex. Man, now I can't wait to read about the women who tame Hudson's twin brothers!
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review, but the opinions expressed are my own.
I loved Mimi and Hudson’s story! Their story keeps you guessing. You never know what will come next. It’s full of fun small town festivities, pranks, some mystery and plenty of romance! It’s another great Harvest Ranch fun, quick read!
Ooh, I loved the tension and the attraction in this story! Give me a good kiss right away and I'm in. Hudson and Mimi are so good together but that Hudson sure has his hang-ups. Good thing his hang-ups aren't bigger than Mimi's spunk and tenacity!
There was quite a cast of characters in this book so it took a minute to get used to all of them but I think the author did a good job of helping me remember and distinguish between them all. I was really rooting for Hudson and Mimi from the very beginning and I love becoming so invested in characters. Hudson and Mimi have a whole lot of family between them and most of them were also rooting for them to get together. Some even went to some pretty crazy extremes. All in the name of love. (cue hayride kidnapping and cellar lock in)
This was the perfect book to read right now because fall is settling in where I live and the fall setting of this book just felt right. Snuggle up, get a hot drink and this book!
I have read the others in this series and this one was a wonderful addition.
Hudson is a hardened cowboy with a big soft heart only for Mimi. He is a protector of those he loves and he always seems to choose to be the one to sacrifice to keep the peace. He has loved Mimi for a long time but he is made to feel that he can't show those feelings because of something his brother, West, accused him of. I really can't stand West, although, he does redeem himself a little at the end of this story.
Mimi has loved Hudson for years. She gets conflicting vibes from him and she is frustrated that he can't seem to decide whether he wants her or not. Hudson's twin brothers, along with a few others, are determined to be matchmakers in this case. While they are very mischievous and a bit irritating, their hearts seem to be in the right place where Hudson and Mimi are concerned. They even enlist the help of the nephews, too.
This was a clean, wholesome romance with a bit of drama and suspense that ended with a happy ever after ending. This story could be enjoyed by those of all ages.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
This was another fun book in the Harvest Ranch Romance series. This book took place after Stephanie Fowers' River's Song: Spring Flings and Engagement Rings. It focused on the Slade and the Bridges families and I got to catch up with the characters which I really liked. This book was full of romance, mystery, and matchmaking pranks as poor Hudson falls for Mimi. It was an on again off again romance until Hudson was able to deal with his past and move on with his mom's blessing, of course. I am so excited that the third book will focus on Grey, who seemed to have a lot of secrets in this book and I want to know more about them. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Harvest Ranch is one of my favorite places to visit and I loved delving into Hudson's and Mimi's story and discovering that there can't possibly be a better sizzling forbidden romance around.
While this book could probably technically stand alone, I love how it built more upon other stories, giving the setting and characters a richer flavor.
Fowers does a fantastic job of incorporating conflict with tangible chemistry, obtaining the perfect balance of swoon, spunk, and sweetness, and even a dash of suspense. I loved the scenes with family, especially the mischievous twins, but the interactions between sassy Mimi and softie Hudson were the best. Between the harvest festivities, pranks, and flirtatious banter, this one was an autumn favorite!
Content: mild+ romance; mild moments of peril

This is book 19 in the series and could technically be read as a stand alone, but the stories overlap and intertwine, so it’s better if you read them in order. Mimi has had a crush on Hudson since they were kids. Hudson is Mimi’s brother’s best friend and that’s not the only reason she’s off limits. No matter how much he’s attracted to her, it can’t happen. But fate has other ideas. I read this book in one sitting. It’s quite the roller coaster of emotions as some family members are trying to get Hudson and Mimi together, and others are dead set against it. Will they be able to get their happily ever after? You’ll have to read to find out. I’m on to book 20!
Mimi’s had a crush on the boy next door for as long as she can remember, but their families have a complicated history. Can these two overcome all the past mistakes between their families to be true to their hearts? Oof! My heart bled for Hudson. He’s used to shouldering all the responsibility, so that means he’s also used to taking all the blame, too. Even when it may not be his to own. I loved these two together even though it nearly broke me every time Hudson gave in to the pressure and pulled back. I adored Mimi’s fierceness and brave spirit. And now I’m more than curious to read the stories that are going to result from the setups the author has shown us here.
A sassy, sweet heroine and a handsome, tough cowboy with a tender heart who writes love poetry--what's not to love? This author has taken the familiar trope of forbidden love and given it a fresh spin. There are a lot of references to events and characters from an earlier book in this series, River's Song, but the book can be read as a standalone. This story grabbed my interest from the first chapter and kept it to the very end. I recommend it! I received an ARC from the author and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.
This was such a beautiful and sweet story. I love how you get so much of everyone, not just the main couple. It hooks you into the current story and builds you up in excitement for the next ones as well. There is chemistry beyond belief and the entire town seems more and more like home with every book.
I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
I truly enjoyed this installment of the Harvest Ranch series. Mimi and Hudson have such a good backstory. Hudson has taken the burden of his family and tried to help make everyone happy except himself. Mimi has forgiven him for his part in her sister’s divorce but she doesn’t know his secret. What happens when she learns the truth?
This is a sweet, clean romance. You definitely have to read the previous books as it doesn’t stand alone. If you like tough cowboys with hearts of gold and strong women, you’ll be sure to enjoy this author’s newest release.
Love loved it so much. A great story and fits into all the rest of the series. A triple happy ending beautifully written with enough intrigue and romance to make you forget the time you are taking to read through the book in one setting! Fantastic story!
This is another great Harvest Ranch romance. Even though you know how the story will end, you enjoy reading about what goes on with the couple leading up to it.
Ah, Hudson. The one who always feels the need to fix problems and kicks himself when things don't work out. Mimi? A little, fiesty woman who's madly in love with Hudson. In steps the twins. Adult brothers who love pranks. There's so much more! Enjoyable book!
Loved Hudson's Heart! Stephanie Fowers creates heroes to fall in love with, and this is no exception. He and Mimi shared some serious sparks (still sweet and clean!), and I love that their relationship was based on a long friendship. Great forbidden love aspect, too!
This story is really great to read as it is filled with so much exciting adventures with lots of twists and turns. I loved the love hate going on between all the characters.
I wasn't a fan of the story from the inspirational angle. It just wasn't what I hoped for. But it is a good sweet, clean romance with spice. If you enjoy that kind of romance, then I recommend it.
This book resonated so well with me. We each have our personal trials to overcome and a lot of that is what we grew up learning. I loved the story of Hudson and Mimi. A must read.
I understand Hudson feeling guilty about bullying his younger brother when they were kids but I don't understand his guilt or his brother and father acting like he was to blame for West leaving his family. Made no sense to me. Mimi is one sassy gal who never gave up on Hudson. His twin brothers were quite funny and wonderful matchmakers!!!! The dialogue between Hudson and Mimi was wonderful. Loved the ending.
