A tragic death. A massive cover-up. PI Martina Monroe must face her past in order to reveal the truth.
PI Martina Monroe has found her groove working cold cases alongside Detective Hirsch at the CoCo County Sheriff’s Department. With a growing team of cold case detectives, Martina and Hirsch are on the heels of bringing justice for Julie DeSoto - a woman Martina failed to protect one year earlier. But when Martina receives a haunting request from her past, it nearly tears her in two.
As Julie's case turns hot, so does the investigation into a young soldier's untimely death. As both cases rattle Martina to the core, she now questions everything she believed about her time working for Drakos Security & Investigations and with the United States Army. Martina must uncover the truth for her sanity and her own life.
Pushed to the brink, Martina risks everything to expose the real criminals and bring justice for the victim’s family and her own.
A gripping, page-turning thriller, full of suspense.
All She Wanted is the third installment in the thrilling Martina Monroe PI series.
H. K. Christie watched horror films far too early in life. Inspired by the likes of Stephen King, Jodi Picoult, true crime podcasts, and a vivid imagination she now writes suspenseful thrillers. When not working on her latest novel, she can be found eating & drinking with friends, walking around the lakes, or playing with her favorite furry pal. She is a native and current resident of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The MARTINA MONROE series featuring Private Investigator Martina Monroe and her unofficial partner, Detective August Hirsch of the Cold Case Squad, is a nail-bing crime thriller series full of suspense. If you like high-stakes games, jaw-dropping twists, and embattled seekers struggling to do right, then you’ll love the thrilling Martina Monroe series.
The SELENA BAILEY series is a collection of suspenseful stories detailing one young woman's turbulent path to becoming a top-notch, kick-ass private investigator. If you like thrilling twists, dark tension, and smart and driven women, then you’ll love this new dark thriller series. A Permanent Mark is a suspenseful murder mystery featuring a grown-up Selena Bailey.
In the beginning, I feel like a lot things are repeated and summarized from the last book. Which I get but at the same time it’s a bit annoying. Martina’s personality just keeps trying to change. I feel like she doesn’t always truly believe what she says. This case was also a bit boring, it felt really predictable especially once more details emerged.
“Were we all capable of murder, if pushed hard enough?”
To me, this one just wasn’t as good as the previous books. The stonewalling was broken to fast, everything was OMG. ONG. OMG. Then the murderer wants to talk and ties everything up for them, except where to find someone, the the stonewall breaks and the repercussions against the sister who cracked were bizarre to say the least, and not in accordance of any law parameters I know
Martina and Hirsch are taking on the case of a rich, abusive lawyer who had his wife murdered several years ago. They weren't able to find the evidence to prove he'd hired someone to kill his wife back then, but they're re-opening the case and are determined to get him this time. Martina is also approached by an old friend from her Army days who asks her to help her family get her younger sister, Kira's, death records from the Army. They were told she'd been killed by friendly fire while on a training exercise. They've been trying to get the records for a year, and the Army keeps stalling. They don't know why. I've enjoyed this series very much. I like that Martina and Hirsch are working cold cases and bringing justice to the families who may feel forgotten; who feel that their loved one will never have justice. And I love that they always close the case in the end. Maybe, like in Kira's case, it's not always wrapped up really pretty and in a fair way, but in the end, the bad guys lose. That matters. I will read the next book.
Another fantastic , unputdownable page turner, filled with difficult descions for my favourite duo. Martina navigates through what is right and what any one with a heart would want, supported by Stavros and Hirsch who always have her back. This book takes on both the U.S. Military and the bureaucracy of the departments of the U.S.government. The research done to give an accurate insight into both shows how much care is put into the plotlines, which cover Martina's old case that has haunted her and a new crime that hurts her. Through all of this Hirsch is there, backing her and providing advice and support. We get to see her boss, Stavros, in a new light. The humour and good feelings provided by Betty, Zoe and the new addition,Barney, give the book a depth and overall continuity that allow you to become part of Martina's life. I can't wait to start the next book.
This is the third book in the series. It was a really great one and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I love the character pairing.
Martina Monroe is a private investigator and recovering alcoholic, just over a year sober. She recently teamed up with Detective Hirsch from the CoCo County Sheriffs Dept. to help solve cold cases.
Martina and Hirsch are ready to take down a perpetrator from their first meeting. Both believe that Julie DeSoto was killed on her husbands order because he found out she was trying to leave an abusive marriage. Will they finally find the evidence to convict him?
A request from an old Army friend brings another case Martina’s way. Her sister, Kira, was killed on a training operation-or so the family has been told. They think there is more to the story. Can Martina get to the truth?
Third in the series about Private Investigator, Martina Monroe. Things are coming together for Martina, her mother is living with her and taking care of her daughter and she is a year away from the alcohol. She works along side, Detective Hirsch investigating cold cases.
When Martina is approached from one of her friends that she served with in the Army, she asks for her help to find out what happened to her sister. Her sister was in the Army, but they told the family she was killed by friendly fire, the body was cremated, and the can't get any reports on the accident or how she really died. Martina is also following up on the case against a husband that she knows killed his wife..She just has to prove it.
Martina risks her life fighting against the Army strict rules and conduct in solving this case.
Martina is back working with cold cases when she is sought after by an old friend from the Army to help her family to obtain the documents regarding the death of her sister. Things should be straight forward but they are far from there. It seems there is a big conspiracy to avoid the documents to reach the family and it seems there is a big cover-up operation. At the same time, Martina and Hirsch get involved in bringing to justice the man who killed his wife, and that is another tragedy. All she wanted has a good plot, which is a good mystery thriller with lots of action that keeps you reading through the night. As a member of the author's ARC team, I downloaded a free copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
An excellent addition to this series. This is a spin-off from another of this authors series but set in a prior timeframe. The main female protagonist is a cross over character and follows her beginnings as a private investigator, security provider. The storyline touches on how grief causes people to act our of character and can lead to devastating results. There are two main storylines, both well written and comes at the mysteries with the perpetrators already known and how it is proven. I can't wait for the next installment!
Martina sets out to bring two abusers to justice and avenge the women they have harmed.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
Martina and Hirsch are reopening the case of a wealthy lawyer who had his wife murdered years ago, determined to bring him to justice despite previous setbacks. Meanwhile, Martina's old Army friend seeks help in obtaining her sister Kira's death records, who was killed by "friendly fire" during a training exercise.
The family has faced continuous delays from the Army for a year. I enjoy this series for its focus on cold cases and delivering justice for families who feel forgotten. Even when resolutions aren’t perfect, the bad guys ultimately lose, which is satisfying.
Book#3 - Martina Monroe and Detective Hirsch are still working cold cases. Their two personal team has now expanded to a group of officers to help clear the cold case files. The new case brings Martina back to her army days. A woman who was in army with her years ago, asks for help for her sister who died from an accidental army exercise. The army won’t release any information to the family, which is strange. This pushes Martina to try to investigate and she uncovers secrets, lies and corruption within the army. She fights against the rules and regulations to try to bring closure to the family.
Martina Monroe and Hirsch are back with another suspense filled story. Martina is still feeling guilty over losing her client's sister and is about to close the case when she gets a call from someone in her past looking for help. As she dives into this case, she takes on the army and wonders if she is in over her head. This gripping tale had me turning the pages so see what would happen next. I couldn't read it fast enough. I would highly recommend it. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
PI Martina Monroe and Detective Hirsch are working on another cold case when a new case is also brought to them. They try to bring an end and justice to a family whose daughter they could not protect. Then an old friend’s sister was killed in an army training area where there was not supposed to be any real gunfire. As they dig into the army files and friends of Kira, it turns out she had been sexually assaulted the year before her “accidental death”. This is another great book by this author.
I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest review.
I like reading these books. I only wish the editing was more thorough. I can't help but notice the mistakes are mimicking the social media posts of the newer generations no longer being taught proper grammar or spelling. Though, through, thorough and trough are not interchangeable. Too and also may replace one another but do not need to be used side by side, etc.
I'm willing to be hired as an editor if you need someone to be more observant. I know typos happen but isn't that what editors are supposed to correct?
They say 3s A charm this was one really great story
Sitting here reading this series has really made !e like this author a lot , keeps you in suspense every page . I kept thinking what will I read on the next page who could have killed Kira ? Why did Julie have to die all these answers were just pages away. I have read all three of these in the last two days and love everyone of them. I can't wait to start another one in the series l!!
Martina’s life certainly has turned around, from needing so much help to being able to help so much. She has a wonderful family, friends, coworkers and her partner, Hirsch. I enjoy watching the development of their teamwork. They seem to have untouchable murderers to find and prosecute. I was blessed to be able to read this in one sitting. I definitely didn’t want to put it down.
If I could I would give this book a 10. I felt like I was right there with Martina Monroe while she was investigating the sexual assault and death of Kiera Ortiz. The whole story had a realism to it. It felt like something that has or could have happened in real life. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I volunteered a honest review in exchange for an ARC copy of this book.
I think I enjoyed this book the best of the 4 Martina Monroe that I've read. I appreciate the introduction of Martina's mother and the lessening of the spotlight on Zooey. This case was also more interesting than the others. I didn't like the resolution of the Army storyline but that's on me. Hopefully, in a later book this "case" will come up as others have appeared in subsequent Martina Monroe books.
the military really gets away with everything and anything and this book shows that perfectly. i can’t believe they would CREMATE her body without asking the families permission. I WOULD RIOT.
i also just couldn’t imagine being in the stations that detectives and private investigators find themselves in. never a dull moment

I read this book through ARC, in exchange of an honest review. Martina Is working hard on two important cases with her partner Hirsh. As always , fast paced, great characters and a twisted storyline holds your attention. A good story.
Truly suspenseful. I didn't know to expect nor anticipate what came next. A truly well written book. There is some very heavy things mentioned so this isn't a light read either.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
All She Wanted is the third book in the Martina Monroe series and is a great addition to the series. This book brings Martina's past on a collision course with her present. This thriller is well-written and has drama, danger, and suspense. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Wld make a good tv series. The speed and unexpected turns in story keep it alive. Relayionships are welled developed and personal. Reader can identify with all characters.
Sure a lot of cases to juggle at one time. Fortunately all were solved without having to wait for the next edition. The books are interconnected but yet independent. Which I for one appreciate.
H K Christie knows how to pull at your heart strings while weaving her plot into your heart. Martina and Hirsch again try to solve cold cases and bring give the victim’s family some closure.
I am thoroughly enjoying Christie's crime investigating series. She is truly a phenomenal writer, and I get drawn into all the suspense, action, and emotion. It's like watching TV through words. Can't wait to dive into the next book. LOL!
This book wasn’t as good as the first two books in this series. It was slow to start and took me awhile longer to read - almost 3 weeks. The book picked up at the end, about the last 60 pages. Getting to that point was a bit of a drag.
I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the other books just for the simple fact I didn’t necessarily like the cases that were involved. Not too many twists to go along with them. With that said, I still enjoyed the writing. The author does a good job with characters and telling of the story.
