Save Yourself!

Save Yourself! #4

Rate this book
Will Gigi be able to win hearts and minds and, more importantly, the final battle?
Though Shawn, Commander Sef, and Gigi weren't in the exploding ship that Mia feared they were, there's still Aoe to deal with, and they're not going to be captured without a fight! But Aoe is just part of the problem. Did enough of Earth's population witness Gigi's livestream to expose the Lovely Trio for the villains they truly are? It's all explosions and climactic battles in the finale of Save Yourself!

The first three issues set up a LOT and I assumed this was going to be a series that was several volumes long. Unfortunately, it ended at issue 4, and it ended in a way that feels like it was cancelled. It wasn't, presumably -- the early advertisements (which I looked up just now) call it a 4-issue mini-series. But it has that sense of not having the space to explore its ideas and just having to close off the many complicated political and interpersonal concepts it introduced without actually developing them.

It's bright, queer, fun, and cute -- but it feels like an introduction to something bigger and less like something complete in itself. Still, pick it up -- maybe if the readership's big enough it'll get expanded someday to fill the space that it feels like it wanted to have available to it.

There was so much good here and they completely rushed the ending and threw it all away.

All in all, a bright, queer and fun read with lovely and colourful visuals, but the plot was lacking a bit and the conclusion felt terribly rushed.
