The Sol Federation Marine Corps vessel S&R Black was sent to recover an ancient derelict from the farthest edge of the Sol system. What they found could spell the end of humanity.
Days after escaping the derelict ship Mira and Pluto’s destruction, Black Company is pulled from stasis hours from Trident Station only to discover the solar system has gone silent.
Nearly empty on both ammunition and fuel reserves, taking refuge at the silent, apparently dead station is their only choice. When they arrive, they find they are far from alone, and humanity's future lies in their hands.
Derelict: Trident, the suspenseful, action packed fourth and final installment of The Derelict Saga, reveals the AI conspiracy, the true threat the exo-solar creatures pose to humanity, and the emergence of true non-carbon sentient intelligence.

Yeah this series kept getting better and better. interested to see where Cooley takes things next. Grew to love the characters, was sad to see some of them go. Definitely more of a junk food read, but hey even if it isn't mindblowing junk food can still be pretty tasty.
I took my sweet time finishing this book. It’s hard getting to the end and know the next book isn’t out there yet. In the works, I know.
I’ve been a fan of Cooley’s work for a long time. When I get one of his books, I usually read through it in a couple of days. Not sure why I delayed diving deep into this book right away. I shouldn’t have waited.
Authors grow with each book they put out and this one is no different. Paul set a lot of plot lines in motion and brought everything together brilliantly in this 4th installment of the Derelict saga. It was a long read but I didn’t want it to end.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this series and devour it. You’ll be glad you did.
I really got into the start of the book and was excited to see what would happen nd get some answers. Instead I got points of view from every single character and new creatures and AI intelligence that didn't make sense.
The last 30% of this book tumbled down the hill for me. I got lost with the consent different points of view, creatures that didn't have form or details so hard to follow and AI that just didn't make sense.
The whole plot is SO different from the original idea it's like watching Lord of the rings but ends up being star wars.
I just struggled with following or caring about the god like aliens, AI and the overall plot by the end.
I read all four books in the series. They pretty much need to be read in order and without stopping. This book answers a lot of questions and for the most part comes to a resolution. I think it is my least favorite - a little too much metaphysical discussion and trying to explain everything. I found myself skimming the sections with Xi. However, there is still plenty of action with our favorite characters. Well worth reading.
This book, and the series in general, came dangerously close to being too repetitive. But the author did enough work to switch it up a little bit to make it at least interesting. This book was a satisfying ending to the series. My only complaint is that the book was more action-oriented and really left the character development behind. But I guess being the last book of the series the characters had to be established enough.
The different viewpoints in Derelict: Trident feel tighter. There is a further explanation as to why more probes weren’t used in the earlier books. It feels like the author, Paul E. Cooley, has developed this universe further. There is some repetitive dialogue and actions in the early chapters, but then Cooley hits a groove in writing. This book is a satisfying conclusion to this portion of the series. I hope there is another installment.
Is Been waiting for book 4 for awhile and and almost forgotten about the derelict saga ,this book sucked me straight back in and I devoured the book in one sitting I just could not put it down.
A very fun and action filled story and a great end for this portion of the Saga. I hope Paul Cooley writes more involving these characters and continues a lot of the stuff that is left open. Good stuff.
I started the series because it was space horror and the last book just - was not that anymore. I felt like I had missed another book at times as more AI intrigue popped up and the exo-solars and horror that pulled me in felt like an afterthought.
From the first page of the first book to the last page of the final book, this one doesn't let up. You finish exhausted, sad, but exhilarated. What a fucking ride! This is Space horror at its best.
