The first book in the Lancaster county mysteries. Elizabeth,Martha and Mary are three sisters who after their mother’s death move in together and reopen their mother’s second hand store. Opening day goes well until a woman wants all the items she brought for resale back. She says that her father had left her a riddle saying that he had left her a valuable item and not to sell it. The sisters try to get everything back, even the sword that supposedly killed her great grandfather. The man refuses to give it back and things get very tense. They keep trying to solve the riddle but are ready to give up before they finally figure it out.
The Classen sisters simply want to honor their mothers memory when they decide to reopen Secondhand Blessings, a family owned resale and gift shop, but are unaware that items donated by Anita Smucker will suddenly involve them in the midst of a mystery.
Has Anita given away an item that could be worth a fortune or is the riddle that Anita's dad left for her simply a riddle written by a man that was not fully in his right mind? Does the sword that is sold by the Classen sisters hold a long time secret? Can the sisters help solve the mystery or will they lose the shop trying to help Anita chase a treasure that simply is not there?
As the three sisters are wrapped up in solving the mysterious riddle, will they find new loves?
A nice start to a new series. The characters are very different sisters who are working and living together. I don't like to give away the plot and ending to any book a read. I want you to read the book for yourself and decide. It isn't a bad first book of a series.
The beginning of a series built on the storyline of three sisters. One sister lived with their mother, who has recently passed away. The other two sisters move in to help run the business in the family barn. Just before reopening, items from an estate are brought to them for sale, but on the opening day the owner returns and demands all the items returned. This leads to frustration and causes the sisters to want to solve the riddle of what is going on and how to keep it from damaging the reputation of their business, Secondhand Blessings. It was entertaining and had lots of twists and turns. I think a reader looking for light reading would enjoy.
After the death of their Mother; Elizabeth, Martha, and Mary decide to reopen her store, Secondhand Blessings. In their first day, one of their customers demands her things back. Her Father left her a treasure and she believes it's in the things she bought there to be sold! Now the sister's must solve the riddle he left to find the treasure! A great book and mystery!
This took place in Pennsylvania. It has a slow start, but things pick up once the characters begins solving the mystery. The story involves a misunderstanding, a feud, theft, a secondhand shop, and romance. The story has an interesting twist, and the ending is a bit funny.
This is a first in a series of the Classen sisters. The three have returned home to reopen asecond hand store their parents owned. The antics they come up against are humorous and sad at times. Fun reads.
A good story about three sisters who decide to run their grandmother's thrift store, Secondhand Blessing in Lancaster County and of course there is a mystery to solve.
